Nobody Told Me it Ended

A/N: For once, I'm revisiting an old fandom and I don't really see a lot of SBSP fics in the fantasy genre and I'm a sucker for fantasy. Granted, this will be rated T-M due to some blood and murder, maybe even wink-wonking I dunno, this is all just in case so it's T for now; now without further delay, I bring you Pearl Rosary.

Sandy swallowed as she looked at the blue and silver castle up ahead of her. It had been four years since she left the land of Bikini Bottom and even longer that she had a prophecy concerning the Prince. The first time she had her vision, her husband was concerned. She was doubled over in pain as what felt like a blade ran through her chest, vision blurry as the kingdom flashed before her mind's eye.

She left home that night, cloak hiding her face and that too far away look in her eyes.

She breathed, clutching her bag as she made her way to the castle gates. The guards looked at her, bored and uninterested as one of them asked, "What brings you to Nightwell?"

"I'm here to see Prince Spongebob," she said, taking in a deep breath as she continued. "I'm an Oracle."

The guards moved aside, shouting to open the gates. It was rare she had to state what she was. Oracles were rare nowadays and, quite frankly, nearly killed off. Especially down here. Sea folk never understood what they couldn't see.

Sandy passed through the gate, lifting the hood off her head as the castle doors were opened for her. It was time to visit an old friend.

Spongebob picked at his dinner, barely listening to his mother talk about the neighboring queen's daughters and how they lovely they had gotten. Ever since he had turned twenty-three, all she talked about was how it was time he settled down, made a permanent alliance with the neighboring kingdom.

It was something he never really thought about. Marriage. . .was something that he didn't get. Well, he understood marrying for love. But power? More land? It just seemed selfish then.

Spongebob sat up in his seat, clearing his throat. "May I be excused? I think I'm going to retire early tonight." He asked, chewing on his lip for a moment as his mother looked at him.

"Of course, dear. After all, the princess is coming tomorrow and we have to look our best." She said, taking her husband's hand as he stood up from the table as well.

Spongebob nodded, wishing the weather would turn from its peaceful state. Not that he would wish the princess, or anyone, harm. He just wanted their meeting to be delayed. Canceled even, but that was wishful thinking. He entered his room, smiling as his pet snail slithered towards him.

"Hey, Gare-bear," he mumbled, picking the snail up and carrying him to bed with him.

"Meow mow mow," Gary mewled, looking at his owner in concern.

Spongebob sighed, looking up at the gold inlay of the darkened ceiling. "The Princess of Elden is coming tomorrow. I don't know, Gary, it just feels like I'm not ready for marriage yet. Even less so to someone I don't know." He complained, sitting up in bed. For once in four years, he thought of Sandy. She'd have some advice to give him or at least spend time taking his mind off the situation. Maybe. . .maybe before the princess got there, he could send a letter. Check in with her, see how her children were doing and such.

He sighed, turning over in bed to prepare to go to sleep. The cracking and shattering of glass is what made him still, back taut as someone broke into his room.
