Heard a Scream

A/N: Ah, I swear I didn't abandon this, life just got in the way by a lot. I have commissions open for two cents per word.

Sandy turned as a scream rang out from the hall. No. No. This was too soon.

The scream rose in pitch, no longer sounding like SpongeBob the closer she got to the ballroom. It was deeper, almost like—

"Patrick, Patrick, it's okay," SpongeBob said as his friend and guard screamed, pointing at the sponge and Holly.

"But SpongeBob, there's two of you."

Ugh. Of course, it was Patrick making her anxiety spike for no reason. Sandy breathed, feeling Rune ress against the palm of her hand in a comforting gesture and having it work.

"Wh-SpongeBob," she started, walking towards the prince. She looked at him, closing her eyes for a moment. He was still here. Alive. Breathing. Right in front of her in fact.

She opened her eyes, taking SpongeBob's hand in hers and leading him to the throne room. Holly watched them go, trailing behind and stopping only when the guards barred her from entry.

"Y'all need to leave," Sandy said again, worrying her lip between her teeth. "My cave ain't too far from here n no one will know where y'all are except me."

The queen nodded, taking her family through the secret passage that was in the throne room behind a tapestry. Sandy turned as they left, her own scream echoing throughout the room as Holly charged at her with a sword.

"You," princess Holly growled, striking her sword downward. Sandy blocked, Rune transforming before Holly could lift her sword again, breathing fire between the two women.
