Darkness You Don't Show
A/N: I feel like I'm slowly getting back into things. Well, in the fic writing department not so much on my original works. Anyway, thank y'all so much for reading and leaving reviews, it means the world to me.
Sandy panted as she finished off the last guard, making sure reinforcements weren't coming before she made her way to the room they kept Rune. She threw open the door, finding the black dragon spitting small flames at the guards in the room.
Rune looked at Sandy, letting out a screech as he transformed inside the cage, filling it to the brim. Sandy ducked behind the bed, shielding herself as fire and heat filled the other side of the room. She slipped from her hiding place, thankful the keys had cooled on impact and her gland dispenser worked well underwater. She unlocked the cage, grinning at Rune's familiar weight on her arm and back.
She turned to leave, scoffing as Holly stood in the doorway, the golden Nightwell crown on her head.
"You sure you wanna do this again?" Sandy asked, grabbing a sword off the wall.
Holly dropped her weapon, smiling. "Oh no, I can't possibly fight you again. . .I have a favor." She replied, stepping into the room.
Sandy kept the sword in her hand, just in case Holly tried something. Holly stood in front of Sandy, hands raised in placating gesture.
"Which is?" Sandy asked.
"Join me, you'll be the most powerful Oracle in the land," Holly said, outstretching her hand.
Sandy snorted. "You think yer the first to offer me power? I don't need it," she replied, green eyes beginning to glow purple as she took Holly's hand pulling the other woman forward.
Holly gasped as her blue eyes rolled to the back of her head, purple light filling her body. "What are you—." She croaked, a scream leaving her.
"You think I'm jus' an Oracle?" Sandy asked, multiple voices speaking through her. "You're wrong,"
Holly's scream rose in pitch as she tried to pull away, body jerking.
"Sandy?"
Sandy looked over, seeing SpongeBob safe and sound. Here. Why was he here?
SpongeBob went over to the pair, pulling them apart and wrapping his skinny arms around Sandy's middle. "This isn't you," he cried, pressing his face into her stomach. "think about us, think about your family."
Sandy huffed, the light in her eyes leaving her as she slumped against the wall. "What are you doin' here?" she asked. "I can handle—."
She stopped as SpongeBob jerked, his body sagging forward as Holly slashed him across the back with the sword Sandy dropped. Blood ran down his small body, a scream ripping from Sandy's throat as she held onto him.
Patrick swallowed, tackling Holly as the female sponge teetered backward. Whatever Sandy had done knocked her out for the moment. But. . .
"Where's the infirmary?" Sandy yelled, holding SpongeBob body against her. She ran out into the hallway, throwing open doors frantically. She couldn't heal him like this. She didn't want her prophecy to come true.
