Hazing 24

Nina started to worry as the minutes flew by and there was no Jax. She dialed his number only to get voicemail. Where was he? Did he have second thoughts? Nina shook her head to expel the negative thoughts. Jax would not have second thoughts when he fought like hell to keep her. After an hour Nina was frantic. Something was not right. Where was he? Nina quietly walked into her bedroom to check on Lily. She was fast asleep, and Nina smiled as she listened to her little snores. Nina's cell rung, and she leaped for it on the bedside dresser.

"Gemma?" Nina knew instantly something was wrong.

"One of the guys is coming to get you to take you to Stockton Memorial. Jax has been in an accident."

Nina gasp as tears instantly fell down her cheeks.

"Is he dead?" Nina asked her voice shaking.

"No, he is not dead. I need you to stay calm for Lily. He's going to pull through. He has too."

After Gemma's call Nina quickly changed out of her lounge wear and grabbed Lily's coat to put back on. Lily was knocked out and did not budge as her mom put on her coat. After about 20 minutes of pacing back and forth Nina heard a knock at her door.

Nina opened the door to a worried looking Opie.

"Let me get Lily." She told him before dashing into the bedroom to grab her and Jax's child. Opie's eyes became soft as he saw you carry out a sleepy Lily. Once down at Opie's vehicle Nina asked if he could hold her as she took out her car seat. Opie was happy to oblige.

Nina switched car seats from her car to Opie's SUV, grabbed Lily and quickly and efficiently buckled Lily in.

"He's going to be fine." Opie told her starting the car.

Nina nodded her head and successfully held her tears back.

Opie and Nina rode mostly in silence as they were deep in worry for Jax.

Gemma stopped Nina dead in her tracks before she rushed in Jax's room holding Lily tight.

"No, Lily does not need to see her father like this."

"That bad?"

Gemma shook her head yes.

"I heard about what happened earlier today. Don't think we are not going to talk about it." Gemma looked at Nina sternly. Nina had nothing to say. She knew it was coming, so she just nodded her head in acknowledgment.

Nina walked in Jax's room and found a tall, dirty blonde woman sitting by his bed. Nina stopped in her tracks off guard as to who this woman was. Nina slowly walked up to the bed preparing herself for what she was about to see. She gasped when Jax came into view. He was a mess. His right arm was broken, he had bandages around his abdomen no doubt due to broken ribs. His handsome face had road rash on the right side that started at his cheek and went up just above his hairline. His nose was broken, both eyes were black. His helmet must have cracked and fell off. Nina shuddered to think what would have happened if he did not have on the helmet. Sensing someone else in the room the blonde turned and looked at Nina up and down with curiosity.

"You must be Nina. I'm Wendy. Abel's mom." Nina stuck out her hand and shook Wendy's. She heard Jax mention her a few times, but it was nice to put a face to the name.

"Hey." Jax whispered softly.

"Hey." Wendy moved out the way and let Nina take her place. Nina leaned over and kissed Jax's dry lips.

"You can't be getting into wrecks Jax. Your family needs you. I need you."

Jax smiled at her confession.

"So, does this mean you will marry me?"

Nina ignored the gasp she heard from Wendy. Why was she still in the room?

"Yes, I will marry you." Nina kissed his lips again and noticed Wendy finally left the room. No doubt to relay what she heard to Gemma.

"Is that Jax's daughter?" Wendy ask looking at Lily in Gemma's arms.

"Yes, can't you tell. Spitting image."

"You think it's wise for Jax to marry her? The club accepted her?" Gemma frowned with confusion.

"Marry who?"

"Nina. She just told him she would marry him." As usual Gemma held a poke face.

"He loves her Wendy and Jax gets what he wants."

"Yeah….but is that good for all parties involve. She is so young."

"….and black. Go ahead say what you really want to say."

"Well that too Gemma. She's going to be a target."

"Anyone involve with Jax will be a target no matter the color."

"Nina will be fine. She has me and the club looking out for her."

"So, the club accepts her."

"The club will accept whoever Jax wants to be his old lady. It is not a club decision."

Lily stirred awake in Gemma's arms.

"Hey baby girl." Gemma soothe kissing her cheeks.

"Nana!" Lily Rose hugged her Nana's neck before looking around confused at her whereabouts.

"Mom?"

"She's with daddy. She'll be back soon."

"I can watch her while you go in and see Jax. Gemma shook her head no. She did not trust Wendy just yet.

"Opie can watch her."

"Gemma when can I stop by and see Abel?"

"You need to talk with Jax about that. It was at a courtesy that I called you to tell you about his accident. You still need to go through him for everything." Gemma called for Opie.

"Watch her while I see Jax real quick." Gemma handed Lily to Opie and Lily Rose immediately hugged Opie's neck. Wendy eyes the pale child with reddish brown hair in front of her. She did look like Jax. It was uncanny. He could not deny this child if he tried. Wendy wondered what made Jax fall for her mother. What did she have that Tara and her did not have? Wendy sat down to make herself comfortable. She needed to see Jax one more time to ask when she would be able to see Abel. She knew this was not the idea situation, but she needed to get him while she had his undivided attention. With him laying up in a hospital bed she would have just that. Once he left the hospital she knew it would be hard to get in touch with him. As news of the accident circulated the hospital wait room started to fill up with the Sons. It never ceased to amaze Wendy the loyalty these men had to Jax and the club.

"So, you are getting married." Gemma walked up to Nina and Jax.

"Who told you?" Jax asked trying to sit up. Nina gently pushed him back down.

"You need to rest. Wendy heard. I'm sure she told her the happy news."

"Yes, she told me. You should have been a little more cautious with her in the room. I don't trust her."

"Ma, don't start now. They didn't give me enough morphine to deal with your paranoia."

"You know I'm usually right Jackson. Just be careful."

"Have you been in to see him?"

Wendy looked up from her phone to find a tired looking Tara standing in front of her.

"Yes, for a few minutes."

Tara looked around as she received some looks from some members.

"Is she in there?" Tara looked over at Lily.

"Yes."

Tara let out a sigh as she brought her thumb to her mouth and bit her nail. She shuffled her feet as she wondered if she should go see him or not.

"You should go see him. He is the father of your child. We have every right to be in there just as she does."

"I know." Tara sat next to Wendy.

"Tara what the hell happen? How did you let a teeny bopper pull Jax from you?" Wendy whispered hoping none of the guys heard her.

Tara shrug her shoulders. She told Wendy honestly, she did not know how it happen. It felt like it just snuck up on her. She thought everything was fine with her and Jax and next thing she knew she was operating on his baby.

"Does he let you see Thomas and Abel?"

"Yes, with supervision."

Wendy shook her head.

"Fuck that supervision shit. Thomas is your son. You raised Abel. You should have joint custody if not full custody."

"I'm working on that. I just have to play the song and dance and soon I will have joint custody."

"I know at first I was hesitant with you raising Abel, but I would be damn if I would have some little girl raising our children. No telling how she is raising them. She is just a kid herself."

"She is in her twenty's Wendy."

"Stop being so passive. That's probably what got you in trouble the first place."

Tara sat back and did not argue. In a way proving Wendy was right. Maybe she should have fought harder for her family. Wendy took Tara's hand.

"Come on let's go see Jax. We are not taking no for an answer."

Nina was applying chapstick on Jax's lips when there was a brief knock at the door and Wendy and Tara entered the room. Nina noticed Tara was in scrubs. She did not know Tara was back at work.

"I just wanted to stop by real quick before rounds." Tara told the room. Nina noticed Tara would not look in her direction. Nina knew Tara's hatred for her was something she may have to live with the rest of her life. As for Wendy she was giving Nina side eye. Did Tara corrupt Wendy against her that fast?

"I'll be out in the waiting room." Nina told Jax before leaning over and giving him a soft peck on the lips. She wasn't sure from who, but she heard a grunt of disgust from Wendy or Tara. As Nina exited the room she looked at both women. They ignored her, and Nina realize she might just have a problem in the future with them both.
