Time Period: Post Lucky's traumatic birth

Place: Peyton's hospital recovery room

Karen (looking at Lucky's face): Lucky's face is a little bruised

Peyton (still resting in the bed and holding Lucky): Lucky had a traumatic entrance into the world. She was stuck in the birth canal. The doctor used forceps to get her out.

Karen: I understand

Lucas (choked up): I almost lost Peyton and Lucky during the delivery

Karen (hugging Lucas): Everything will be alright because they are here now

Lucas: I believe and trust you, mom

Peyton (touching Lucky's neck): I see traces of a rope or something else on Lucky's neck. Maybe the umbilical cord was tied around her neck.

Karen (looking at Lucky's neck): The rashes on Lucky's neck are very concerning and alarming

Lucas (leaving the room): I'll be back. I am going to get a nurse.

Peyton: ok thanks, honey

(True to his word, Lucas comes back with a nurse who is willing to help)

Nurse (friendly): Hello sweetheart. Your husband told me that a guash or rash is on Lucky's neck.

Peyton (showing Lucky's neck to the nurse): My husband is correct. We wonder if the umbilical cord was tied around Lucky's neck.

Nurse: The umbilical cord was indeed tied around the baby's neck

Peyton, Lucas, and Karen (shocked): OH MY GOD

Nurse: Please don't worry. Lucky will not experience any developmental delays.

Time Period: A Flashback

Situation: The umbilical cord is tied around Lucky's neck

Peyton (pleading with the doctor): The forceps are hurting me. Please get them out.

The doctor (putting away the forceps): I don't need the forceps anymore. The baby's head is almost out.

Peyton (contracting and pushing like crazy): GRR ... AHA...AHA

Lucas (choked up): Peyton, you are in the final homestretch

Peyton (still trying to push out the baby): AHA .. AHA

The doctor (feels the umbilical cord on the baby's neck): Peyton, please stop pushing

Peyton (fighting back the urge to push): The contractions are intense and coming quickly. Why should I stop pushing?

The doctor: The umbilical cord is tied around the baby's neck
