Scene: A Doctor's Office
The Doctor (reading test results): The baby has Down Syndrome along with a possible heart defect. You will lose the baby. It's just a matter of time.
Peyton (feeling numb, she places a hand over her stomach): I understand
The Doctor: I hope you will enjoy the rest of your pregnancy
Peyton (sheds a tear): Thanks
Lucas (distraught, he hurries Peyton out of the door): Lets go home, sweetheart
Scene: Lucas and Peyton's house-The bedroom
Action: Completely devastated, Peyton sobs long and hard into her pillow.
Lucas (rubbing Peyton's back): I love you
Peyton (still sobbing heavily): I have wanted this baby for so long. It just hurts now.
Lucas (lays down beside Peyton): I prefer the word capability over disability
Peyton (clutching her stomach): The doctor has given our baby a death sentence. Whatever will become of her in the future?
Lucas: Lucky will soar high
Peyton (leaving the bedroom): I am going to my art studio
Scene: Peyton's home art studio
Action: The doctor's grim prognosis has inspired her to paint a picture entitled "Precious Down Syndrome Baby".
Lucas (holding a sleeping Sawyer, he admires Peyton's artwork): What is the title of this beautiful masterpiece?
Peyton (beaming with joy): Precious Down Syndrome Baby
Lucas (amazed): Cool
Peyton (experiencing abdominal pain, she sits down on a couch): Ouch?!
Lucas (torn between answering the door and tending to Peyton): The doorbell is ringing. You are in pain. What should I do?
Peyton (takes Sawyer out of Lucas' arms): My pain is temporary. You can answer the door and bring back some medicine.
Lucas (leaving the studio): Alright
