Place: A Doctor's office

Situation: A Conference

Doctor (reading over paperwork): The baby has down syndrome

Peyton (rubbing her stomach): Correct

Doctor: You will have to take many precautions. She will never be normal.

Peyton (fighting back tears): I know the risks

Doctor: She will never be successful

Peyton (crying): How dare you say that about my baby

Doctor: You are better off sending her away

Lucas (offended, he yells at the doctor): You know nothing

Doctor: I am preparing you for what is to come

Lucas (escorting Peyton out of the doctor's office): Come on, Peyton. Lets go home.

Scene: The Hallway-Outside the doctor's office

Peyton (sobbing): She will never be normal. What if the doctor is right?

Lucas (holding Peyton): Kids with special needs are successful

Peyton (rubbing her stomach): I will wait and see

Lucas (kissing Peyton): I love you and Lucky

(Afterwards, Lucas and Peyton visit a local special needs school where anything is possible)

Time Period: The Present

Date: 2-16-2011

Scene: The Hospital-Peyton's recovery room

Action: Resting in bed, Peyton is drawing pictures when a nurse walks into the room. The nurse has medication for her.

The nurse: Aren't you that woman with the down syndrome baby?

Peyton (smiling): Yes

The nurse: She will never be normal

Peyton (shocked): Excuse me..

The nurse: She will never be pretty, good, or smart enough. She will never be successful.

Peyton (yelling): Get out of my room

The nurse: I need to give your medication

Peyton (still yelling): I don't want my medication. Please leave me alone.

The nurse (becoming angry): I will give it to you regardless

Peyton: I want another nurse

(The situation becomes so bad that Peyton's blood pressure goes sky high. A visit from Lucas helps Peyton to stay calm. Eventually, she takes her medication and gets a new nurse. )
