After the defeat of St. Ajora, Razma and his team were thought to be lost to the shadows of the nether world. Only Olan has seen Razma and Alma, and only briefly. They remained hidden from the world, silently defending the helpless they come across. Occasionally someone would disappear with them. Each of the zodiac stones were hidden and the children of the heroes guarded them. A lone alchemist tricked one of the guardians to leading him to the stone and petrified the guardian.
He successfully resurrected the Lucavi in the stone, under his control. The Alchemist used the Lucavi's power to take control of several towns. The Lucavi poisoned his mind, furthering his lust for power. Eventually he took control of all the stones. During his attempt to resurrect the twelve remaining Lucavi the guardians interfered. The spell broken halfway through the ritual, the stones were flung across time and space into other realms. The Lucavi that was successfully revived was once again sealed and thrown with its brethren.
The thirteen stones left holes in the fabric of time and space, small ones that caused no harm. Three of the stones remained in Ivalice, reborn as humans, their powers not yet awakened.
Before Sephiroth's defeat and the Geostigma incident, the night Cloud told Tiffa that he wanted to become a member of soldier, they sat out watching the sky. Two of the stones fell to earth that night, mistaken for shooting stars. They too were reborn into humans, their powers dormant. Two others fell to the Earth that Squall and his friends lived on. Another two stones fell to the lands of Gaia, Garnet and Zidane's home. All were mistaken for shooting stars. All were reborn as humans, with no sign of their powers shown.
Four of the stones landed in two unknown areas. A new realm, plagued with monsters. Most humans were destroyed by the vile and aggressive creatures. The remaining pulled together in an underground facility. Here the humans live in fear of attacks, a small army to protect them. The elves sealed themselves in their homes, only one helped the humans in their struggle against the creatures. Two of the stones landed in this world.
The final two landed in the borders of the nether worlds, sitting silently awaiting the day they were discovered. Over the course of sixteen years the holes grew larger, as the stone children grew up. The different realms of the netherworlds fused together, the power of the stones slowly resurrecting the evils that were defeated once before.
