Magic in the Dark Chapter 3

Once again an update. Hope you all enjoy this update. Remember that this is an alternate reality where the characters are older and different from the books and movies.

:Chapter Start:

A Month later-Leaky Cauldron-Early morning

Harry slept in one of the rooms the he is renting as he looks for a new place to live. Fortunately it is one Galleon per night and with the Diagon Alley behind the Leaky Caldron it was easy to visit the bank to pay the rent. Harry yawns after awakening and having heavy thoughts on what happened after the DeathEaters tried to assassinate Harry and his remaining family.

One month earlier-Surrey

Dumbledore was sitting across from Vernon and Petunia as they discussed what happened, "I am afraid that during the last few days of the school term. The wizard who murdered Harry's parents made an attempt on Harry's life and his followers decided to target Harry before he could reach your home."

Vernon simply says in anger, "He is not living here anymore. I don't care what you say. That freak put my son in danger!" Dudley flinched at that while looking to Harry in sympathy.

Dumbledore frowns before commenting, "Your family is quite safe. Harry is protected under a blood pact, as long as he lives in the same house as someone with his blood no one can hurt him. That is why I made arrangements to have Harry live with you instead of his God Mother."

"Then he already has somewhere he can live with!" Vernon shouts.

"Unfortunately his Godmother was tortured to insanity leaving their son living with his grandmother," Dumbledore sighs before adding, "Without you Petunia, Harry could be targeted at any moment. Plus another issue has come up," He looks to the two boys and says, "It appears Dudley may have some talents with magic or at least one wizards are not familiar with."

Vernon turned red and shouts, "MY SON IS NORMAL AND NOT A FREAK!"

Dumbledore simply says, "He is not a wizard, but I believe that he may be something even rarer. New blood is normally introduced threw wizards and witches born from none magical parents. Though it becomes more likely in families with someone in their family tree being born non-magical to magical parents. What I am implying is that your son, is most likely in a sense a limited magical."

Vernon sneers and says, "MY SON IS NORMAL NOW GET OUT AND TAKE THAT FREAK WITH YOU!"

With that one youth suddenly snaps, and he was not wearing glasses, "HE IS NOT A FREAK!" shocking Vernon and Petunia as Dudley continues, "Harry is family, you know what the first thing he did when we were first attack. He made sure that you and I were alive, Dad. He could have just run, instead he shouted at those that attacked us and led them away."

Vernon silently listened to his son before turning to Harry and says, "You did this! YOU MESSED WITH MY SON!"

Dudley shakes his head before turning to Dumbledore and asks, "Can I come with Harry? Plus we are related by blood if that helps."

Dumbledore hums before asking, "I do not wish to remove you from your parents' young one."

"They did that, themselves. I will go pack my things," Dudley states while walking away.

They blinked at that before speaking to Dudley to try and save their son. Dumbledore turned to Harry and says, "Well it will take a few days to organise somewhere new for you to live, but the Leaky Cauldron should have some rooms for you to use. It is the off season in a way."

The present-Leaky Cauldron-Hall outside Harry's room

A fully dressed Harry walked out his room and walked to the room next to his and knocks to hear, "Come in!" Dudley shouts to him and they quickly entered the room where Harry sees that Dudley was sitting on his bed in working on a deck. Dudley simply states, "Morning."

Harry simply asks, "Hey, cousin. Any regrets yet?" Harry had been asking each day for the past month, making sure that his family was okay.

"For the last time Harry, I had already planned to move out as soon as I could," Dudley states before asking, "So any word on where you will be living from now on?" Harry shakes his head 'no' before Dudley nods and says, "Happy Birthday by the way," quickly throwing Harry a card.

Harry caught the card before chuckling and saying, "Of course, I would forget. Pity none of my friends have sent me a letter."

Harry chuckles in forced humour before Dudley states, "Well you were attacked, maybe the wizard version of police have been holding your mail due to risks of wizard terrorism." Harry chuckles before they hear a knock on the door.

Harry blinks before opening the door and opened it fully in surprise to see, "Draco? What are you doing here, and what is that in your hands?" Draco sighs annoyed while holding a strange creature with large ears and wearing rags.

Draco simply reached into his pocket and says, "This is Dobby," he pulls out a stack of letters and hands it to Harry before saying, "Apparently my dad made some threats. Dobby here felt that you needed to not go to Hogwarts this year. He won't tell me why."

Dobby was still in Draco's hand before saying, "Mister Harry Potter in danger."

Draco simply says, "Well if he knew the danger he would be willing to listen or even inform Dumbledore or a teacher of said danger. You blasted Elf!" he drops Dobby heavily on the ground, with the House Elf raising his arms to reduce the assumed hit. Draco sighs and says, "Dobby, stop cowering. Your scaring the Muggle."

Dobby was confused before looking to Dudley who was looking at Dobby with a dropped jaw. Dudley simply asks, "So your one of these magical creatures that Harry has been learning about or something?"

Dobby looks to Draco who simply gestures to speak, which confused Dobby but he did as directed, "Yes, Dobby is a House Elf sworn to the Malfoy family until they offer me clothes." Harry looks to Draco who shakes his head as Dobby continues, "Though in the Malfoy family only the head can gift me clothes." Draco nods to Harry.

Draco then asks Dobby, "Well, Harry has been warned he has his mail that you have been stealing and now we can got onto other business," he reached into his other pocket and pulled out four tickets and says, "Who wants to see the tournament?" Draco smile to Harry and Dudley.

Dudley asks, "Will I even be able to go?"

"You will have a ticket and be with us so yeah. Plus considering that you can see Dobby means that you can always claim to be a Squib," Draco informs Dudley, who was confused, "A person born to a magical family only without their own magic, but has enough to actually see magic." Dudley nods at that.

Harry then asks, "Who is the forth ticket for?"

"Hermione," Draco states and looks at the clock, "She has to be here by eleven though," It was nine, "Let's get some breakfast." Dudley packs his deck and grabs his Wizarding Duel Disk, let's face it he needed one. They went downstairs where everyone would eat and drink ale.

The room was rather empty compared to the weekend or the lunch rush, there was one patron reading a book on ancient creatures, specifically serpents. Harry went over to the counter where Tom was cooking breakfast and says, "Three Breakfast meals," the bald hunchbacked man looked to Harry and nods as he continues to cook with magic. Harry returned to the table with Draco and Dudley where Harry comments, "Wonder if this tournament will follow the actual rules of Duel Monsters."

Draco shakes his head in the negative, "My father has basically talked to all the competitors. No idea what he told them though." Tom stepped over revealing three plates of a classic English breakfast, they thanked Tom before enjoying their meal with Draco comments, "This is better then what I normally eat. Wonder why?" unknown to him at that moment Dobby was at a magic friendly muggle style store with a few Knuts counting as he stares at a trey of meat only to sigh being short a Knut and having to get a cheaper cut of meat. Draco shrugs at the thought before commenting, "So Dudley, Harry mentioned at school that you use multiple decks is that really allowed?"

Dudley swallows a piece of beacon before he comments, "Yeah, they stopped requiring giving out a list of your cards in your deck because it became a problem when most competitors used the open card lists to know their opponents strategies before they did. Hence why there is normally judges that can end a duel if they summon an illegal card."

"Illegal Card?" Draco questioned.

Harry sighs and says, "Basically cards that are over powered, a one star monster that has four thousand attack that is immune to all cards and can end the duel instantly without a handicap." Draco blinked before Harry says, "Say that in a tournament, you could not have cards that increased your life points. You play a card that increases life points you lose."

Dudley then says to Draco, "Really it depends on the Tournament with the exception of one of a kind cards that was made but never to be used in a duel."

Draco nods in understanding before he says, "Well I don't think they have something like that today."

Harry shakes his head before Hermione entered the Tavern and sees her friends and walks over as they finish up their breakfast. Harry says, "Hello Hermione, sorry about not calling during the break."

Draco adds, "Yeah, my family's House Elf was stealing his mail."

Hermione shakes her head before saying, "Happy Birthday Harry. I hope I am not late." They look to the clock and sees that she was fifteen minutes before they needed to leave for the Tournament. Hermione asks, "So where is this tournament being held?"

Draco answered, "We will be taking the Flew Network to get there."

Harry blinks, "What is the Flew Network?"

Draco shakes his head, "The fire place, there is a pot with grey powder. You have to say the name of where you are going very carefully."

Dudley frowns before saying, "Not sure I will be able to use it though."

Draco sighs and says, "Won't be a problem. Come on," with that Harry informed Tom that they would be back later. The four stood in the large fireplace as Draco grabbed a large handful of Flew Powder and says, "Muggle Stadium!" and dropped the powder as they all burst into green fire.

Wembley Stadium-Secret Wizarding chamber-a minute later.

Draco and Dudley came out the fire place easily only for Harry and Hermione was sent out violently and in a roll in each others' arms. Harry groans and looks up into Hermione's eyes and says, "Ow."

Hermione quickly gets up and helps Harry up as Draco comments, "Never seen someone thrown out the Flew like that," Draco then reached into his pocket and handed everyone their tickets before leading the group to the booth and Dudley noticed a sign.

"We are under Wembley Stadium," Dudley comments before asking, "that path there leads into the area where people watching a match can get a seat."

Draco nods and says, "My father complains about those who enjoy Muggle sports. When a Muggle event is taking place there is no Wizarding event taking place."

Harry could only nod in agreement, getting to watch a sporting event for free would probably be a tempting offer for anyone in England. They pass the hallway and hand their tickets over to the Wizard official before they were allowed to pass into the main chamber where it was a series of duel arenas surrounded by elevated stands that was mostly empty. Harry blinks before asking, "Where is everyone?"

Draco simply says, "They have been getting smaller every year. Plus the gambling and betting on matches have been steadily reducing the number of Witches and Wizards coming."

Dudley asks, "Who do you expect to win?"

Draco simply states, "either of the two who graduated Hogwarts this past year. On put ten Galleons on each of them."

Harry frowns, "What odds?"

"two hundred to one," Draco admits before commenting, "Each. No rule against betting on more than one. Except you lose five percent of your bet for each one you bet on."

Harry asks, "How many will be duelling?"

"Thirty Six," Draco answers before the duels started and the four were heavily disappointed in that the two that Draco bet on duelled in the first round and the winner ended up winning the entire tournament due to everyone else using the weakest monsters imaginable, basically what Hogwarts started out as. By the end Draco simply says, "This was a letdown."

Harru simply says, "Not so sure, you just made two thousand Galleons," pointing to the goblin walking over and handing him a chest with the Galleons. Harry stands with Dudley and Hermione following Draco and Harry to the Flew Network to return to the Leaky Cauldron where they had a early dinner together before Hermione made her way home by bus while Draco used the Flew to head home while Harry and Dudley went upstairs and decided to spend some time duelling before retiring to their rooms for the night.

The next morning

Harry awoke to the sound of Hedwig tapping on the window. Harry opened the window allowing Harry to get his mail, including his Hogwarts Letter with the list of items the second years would be needing. Harry reads the list before frowning at the sight of a series of books that sound like fiction written by this one guy. A Gildory Lockhart. Harry shakes his head before getting dress and feeding Hedwig a snack before he started to walk out the room and knocked on Dudley's room.

"Come in," Dudley states Harry sees Dudley adjusting his decks again.

Harry asks, "You all right?"

"I think I will look into joining the Wizarding league of duelling," Dudley states simply.

Harry nods in understanding, "Hopefully Dumbledore will have something ready for us soon." With that a knock was heard at the door before Harry opened the door and saw Professor Dumbledore along with a somewhat well dressed man, only the clothes were heavily repaired and a large scar over his face. "Professor," Harry let Dumbledore along with his friend.

"Hello Harry, sorry I missed your birthday, but I believed that young Draco had plans and what needs to be done will require a few more hours than would have been available. Basically once you have purchased your school books you will head over to Gringotts with Mister Lupin here," Harry shook hands with Lupin before Dumbledore continued, "You need to sign your cousin and Lupins' names into a book to allow access along with anyone else you wish to allow access. Like Miss Granger or young Draco."

Harry simply nods before asking, "Then I take you are our new guardian."

Lupin simply says, "Yes, at least until I am no longer needed or too dangerous to be around."

Dudley frowns at that before suddenly asking, "What are you a werewolf or something?" Dudley's questions were met with uncomfortable looks before Dudley says, "I was honestly joking."

Lupin simply says, "Well, please keep that under wraps. I don't like advertising my illness."

Dudley and Harry nod in understanding before Harry quickly looked to the Headmaster of Hogwarts and asks, "I noticed the book list and was wondering about the books written by Gildory Lockhart fellow. Why are we being asked to purchase so many of his books?"

"He is your new Defence against the Dark Arts teacher. Though I was unaware of so many alterations to the book list," Dumbledore states before saying, "I will have a list of books for those actually wanting to learn to read in the library."

"Thank you professor," Harry states.

Dumbledore then continues, "Well I suggest the three of you go and get some breakfast before the breakfast rush starts and the shops fill up," with that Dumbledore said his goodbyes leaving the three alone in an awkward silence.

It was broken when Dudley suddenly asks, "Sorry curiosity is pain but do you turn into a werewolf during a full moon or is it a case of you transform at anytime you want?"

Lupin paused at that before saying, "Once a month I turn into a monster for a couple nights a very painful experience. Both physically and emotionally." With that they went down stairs and had a decent breakfast, Harry even ordered Lupin something more substantial when he only ordered some toast but was twitching at the smell of beacon and sausages. That was when The Weasley Family arrived through the Flew Network. Ron arrived holding his mother's hand while the twins taking turns looking after the youngest family member, Ginny Weasley.

Harry blinked at the three as they saw him and Ron suddenly shouted, "Where have you been? We went to your house and you weren't there," Ron suddenly had his mother pinching his ear and tugging.

Molly Weasley, a loving mother wearing homemade fashion was very cross with Ron as she says, "You young man are still in trouble. You lied to me about Harry being in danger in Surrey last night and you stole your father's car. You were with us when your father told us about Harry's situation hence why he had been working so hard for the last few weeks. The least you can do is actually listen. The only reason I knew that left was when Fred and George inform me out of concern."

Harry looked at the two who simply said together, "We wanted to be the first to go for a joy ride." Getting Harry to nod in understanding.

Molly looks to Harry and simply asks, "Were you able to find somewhere stable to rest your head Harry?"

"Dudley and I have a couple rooms upstairs but Mister Lupin will be taking us to Gringots later to sort out our residence," Harry admits.

"You are always welcomed at the Burrow," Molly states looking at Harry and ignoring Dudley. Which was noticed by Harry but not commented on. Molly then asks, "So where are you going to be staying?"

"Not exactly sure. Won't find out until later," Harry admits before the Weasley family, Lupin, Harry and Dudley walk out the back to Diagon Alley just as the morning rush begins.

Dudley was the first to comment, "Wow, compared to the last month, this place is packed."

"Hogwarts Letter day," Fred starts before George finishes, "Everyone comes running to get a everything they need before school starts," Fred then says, "Dad says that all the stores are given ample warning at the cut off date for the number of students that are expected for the next year giving all the stores ample warning for items they need."

Harry and Dudley nod at that before they continue to the book store where a long line was growing. Harry looks to the side and says, "Well that explains what is going on," as the sign indicated meeting with Gildory Lockhart. Harry looks at his list of books and says, "Wish I knew which books second years are meant to get."

Lupin looked at the list and says, "I will grab a couple books that should help you Harry. You follow that list for the actual books."

Harry nods before hearing Hermione, "Harry!" Hermione rushed over and says, "I see that your mail is working again."

Harry shakes his head before saying, "Yeah, fortunately that has been cleared up. Anyway, I will be moving tonight question is where."

Hermione nods as they are directed to the line by Molly waiting to have a set of books signed by the Author, only they were her personal set. Harry notices Arther Weasley arrived with some money to purchase books before taking Fred, George, and Percy to get their books while Ron and Ginny was with Molly, along with Harry and Hermione were waiting in line. Dudley was somewhat ignored as the excited older women were waiting for this apparently famous Author. Harry could only sigh as a photographer was apparently hidden to take a photo for the paper. Suddenly Gildoroy Lockhart stepped out while introducing himself causing the photographer to step out knocking Hermione over only to be caught by Harry. Lockhart notices Harry and says, "Harry Potter," this resulted in Harry being grabbed by the Photographer who took Harry to Lockhart. Lockhart posed with Harry and whispered to him, "Thank you Harry, because of me you will be on the front cover of the Daily Prophet." Lockhart then directed his attention to those wanting their books signed. Lockhart continues, "when Harry came to have his copy of 'Me, Myself and I,' he had no idea that he would be leaving with my complete works, free of charge," he smiles to the crowd as he shoved twenty books into his chest to carry away as he started signing autographs.

Harry then made a show to everyone, "Here Ginny, enjoy," he handed Ginny the books which actually allowed for the Weasley Family to afford all of their books for the year. Harry then got his books and paid for both his and Hermiones' books along with extra copies of the books that Lupin recommended for the year after introducing Hermione to his new guardian.

Harry, Dudley, Ginny, Fred and George started walking out to meet up with Lupin only for Draco to speak above them on a set of stairs, "I take it that that was not intentional."

"Not really," Harry stated before adding, "Though you should get these books instead of his books."

Draco smirks before saying, "Why would his books, there is no mention of spells or anything worth reading," Draco had walked down the steps only for a cane with a snake head was on his shoulder stopping him from talking.

"That is enough boy," Draco's father spoke, "I believe that I should introduce myself properly, Lucius Malfoy," he offered a hand shake. Harry accepted the hand only to be pulled in close as Lucius says, "Apologies," he moved Harry's hair so that he could see the scar from Voldemort, "You survived the Dark Lord and only received a scar. Impressive in that you must have been extremely powerful to face a wizard that would scare even Dumbledore."

Harry removed the hand and cane before saying, "Voldemort, was just a man who did whatever he pleased. In the end he is a body-less ghost who couldn't even beat me in a children's card game."

Lucious revealed his own Duel Disk and says, "Then perhaps you can prove it."

Harry was ready to duel only for Dudley to get in between the two and says, "You want to duel him, you duel me first."

Lucious sneered and says, "Begone Muggle," he glares at Dudley with disgust.

Dudley frowns before saying, "Then you are a coward."

Lucious sneers in anger, before taking a calming breath, "Then when I win, your life will be in my hands."

Dudley smirks before saying, "Then when I win," Dudley smirks, "I get your deck."

Harry frowns at that, knowing that it was in poor form for normal duels but as this is a Wizarding Duel he could only sigh at the lack of commonsense as Lucious says, "Fine," through gritted teeth before they head outside the store.

Harry asks, "You sure you want to do this Dudley?"

Dudley simply says, "I want to see this guy piss himself at the sight of my decks," Dudley opened his coat revealing three decks over his heart and pulls out the lowest deck and shuffles and insert the deck into his Duel Disk.

A crowd formed as Draco stood to the side and says, "This duel is between the Wizard Lucious Malfoy and the Muggle Dudley Dursley. Opon victory, Malfoy will have ownership of Dudley, while Dudley will win Lucious' deck. Duelist Ready?"

DUEL! Both Dudley and Lucious states before Lucious begins, "I will go first filth!" he drew a card and Dudley was silent at the broken rule. Dudley's arms were crossed as Lucious started his turn. "I summon, Armed Dragon in attack mode and end my turn!"

ARMED DRAGON LV3 attack mode-1200-three stars

Dudley blinks before sighing and draws his card and looks up and says, "Well, due to the fact I have no monsters on the field and you do," he selects a single card and says, "Means I can summon this! CYBER DRAGON!"

CYBER DRAGON-Attack mode 2100-five stars

Dudley continues, "This is a special summon meaning I can still summon another monster that I place face down in defence mode. Now my dragon will attack your monster." The attack hits causing Lucious damage.

Lucious grits his teeth before summoning a new monster as he says, "I summon!"

Dudley though shouts, "I haven't finished my turn! I play three cards face down and end my turn."

Lucious growls and says, "You are cheating!"

Dudley simply says, "You already cheated when you drew a card on the first turn. How did cheat in your eyes I would like to know."

Lucious says, "Those face downs behind your monster!"

Dudley raised an eyebrow before stating, "You have never duelled a 'Muggle' before have you?"

Lucious grit his teeth before drawing and says, "I SUMMON MY STRONGEST DRAGON! BLIZARD DRAGON!"

BLIZZAED DRAGON-Atk 1800-four stars.

Dudley sighs and says, "You realise that my Cyber Dragon is stronger right?"

Lucious smirks before saying, "That is where you are wrong! I am attacking your face down!"

Blizzard Dragon attacked revealing Dudley's face down;

ANCIENT GEAR GADGET-DEF 2000-four stars

Lucious' attack resulted in him taking damage.

Lucious blinked before asking, "HOW IS YOUR MONSTER STILL ALIVE!?"

"My monster has stronger Defence. I take it you, end your turn?" Dudley states before asking. Lucious nods. Dudley draws the last card he would need for this duel. Dudley chuckles before saying, "Cyber Dragon is not my strongest monster. First I play the spell card, DOUBLE SUMMON, this lets me summon two monsters this turn. First I summon Yellow Gadget but he won't be staying on the field for long as I use my two Gadgets to tribute summon my GOLEM! Come forth ANCIENT GEAR GOLEM!"

ANCIENT GEAR GOLEM-ATK 3000-Eight Stars.

The Golem was gigantic and only barely small enough to be concealed by Diagon Alley's stealth wards. Lucious was shocked at the monster as he trembled. Dudley though spoke, "But I have one face down left to play before he attacks. I flip my last face down, ENEMY CONTROLLER, and one of the two effects I can use, let's me shift your monster's battle position to defence mode."

Ron and Molly arrived just as Dudley activated the effect, "Wouldn't that just make it so that Malfoy senior won't lose any life points?"

Harry spoke, "Not for Dudley's Golem," Ron realises who is duelling.

Ron says, "Why is he duelling? Doesn't he know that Wizard duels can be deadly?"

Harry sighs and says, "Ron, he is about to win with Ancient Gear Golem's effect. When it attacks a defence position monster the difference is deducted from Lucious' Life points. And with Cyber Dragon attacking next it is Dudley's easy win."

As if by prophecy, that is exactly what happened before Lucious groans as his deck was now in Dudley's hand where he looked at all the dragons including the three Armed Dragons LV3 and says, "I am surprised that you failed to pay attention, when Harry defeated Draco."

Lucious glared at Dudley before shifting his ire to the Weasley family as he went over to them and sees Ginny holding a cauldron with books inside and decided to pull a book out of Ginny's cauldron and says, "I see your family is so poor that you have to purchase second hand books," he then dropped two books into Ginny's cauldron expecting no one to notice except for Harry. Lucious then got in Arthur's face before saying, "Your entire department is pointless you know."

Arthur simply replies with, "Considering the number of wizards not erasing the memories of Muggles who bought something as simple as an enchanted chair that moves itself. The ministry has had to clean up five such chairs in the last week."

Arthur and Lucius were distracting everyone, Harry reached into Ginny's Cauldron and stole a black book and hid it in his robe before stepping away as Lucius and Arthur got into a fist fight, something that they would not get into trouble due to not using magic. Harry concealed the book with his books before finishing his purchases for the day and Harry convinced Lupin to make a stop at the Leaky Cauldron before heading to Gringotts to speak with the Goblins. Harry hides this book under everything in his cauldron that was upside down. Harry then walked back down stairs and said his goodbyes to the Weasley family, Arthur sporting a black eye. Draco said goodbye as well before he left to visit his mother in hospital, she had given birth to a little girl, apparently this upset Lucius but he could do nothing about it, she is a daughter of the Black Family.

Lupin led the two young duellists to the goblin bank where they spent a full hour filling out forms and adding names to a list before the Potter Family hired Goblin says, "Congratulations Mister Potter, the deed to Potter Manor has been reverted to you and your cousin Dudley Dursley, with your current Guardian Remus Lupin. The Flew address is 'Hollows Stand.' May your vaults fill with gold."

Harry nods a thank you before saying, "then may your enemies wither and die," and received a blood thirsty smirk from the Goblin.

Harry led Dudley and Lupin out the bank, after purchasing a second magic pouch for his vault with Dudley receiving permissions to access the Galleons inside. They walked over to the game shop to see that it was now under new management, specifically five Hogwarts Alumni from the last few years taking over and fixing the shop properly, apparently using connections to the Daily Prophet to advertise the actual rules of Duel Monsters were spread out. Harry was later invited to the back where the owners discussed business before Harry agreed to help fiancé the new card shop. Harry though did take a free copy of the rules translated for the Wizarding world. Lupin comments, "I was always fascinated with Duel Monsters, every card has its own lore with weaknesses and strengths. Never was able to play in public though." Which was met with the game shop owners giving him a free starting deck and instruction manual, while Harry bought Lupin a duel disk to use when they got to Potter Manor that night.

After their visit to the game shop they returned to the Leaky Caldron where before they returned down stairs Harry asks Lupin, "What is stopping people from hearing where we are heading?"

"Notice me not charms," Lupin answered while helping Dudley and Harry with their luggage and placing Hedwig in her cage before they went to the Flew Fire Place and proceeded to travel to a large castle outside of London, not far from the Muggle Trains station, that would take them straight to Kings Cross Station. Harry shakes his head before they looked around the literal castle they were living in. Lupin gave them a tour of the castle and were enjoying their time in the castle though when they found an original Duelling Platform enchanted to work around magic. Either way after some searching Dudley and Lupin found some empty guest rooms while Lupin led Harry to his Father's room where they sees several stacks of cards along with several decks and finally several dozen un-opened booster packs that had not been in production for several years. Harry smiles as he finds some cards that interests Harry as he starts rebuilding his deck for the coming year before pausing when he feels a tug towards the book that Lucius gave to Ginny.

Harry grabs the book and a quill and Ink well and went to write only to paused and suddenly rights, 'Who are you?'

The ink vanished before suddenly words were written, 'Tom Riddle,' Harry paused at that before being juvenile as he draws several dicks on the pages before Tom Riddle writes in a shout, 'Stop! What is wrong with you!?'

Harry smirks and writes back, 'You shouldn't try playing with other people's minds. Who are you?'

The book was silent before words appeared, 'I am the dark lord Voldemort!' that resulted in Harry closing the book and finding a couple chains and tying sealing up the book and proceeded to find Lupin. Harry found Lupin and says, "Guess what Lucius Malfoy tried to sneak into Hogwarts. This book claims to be Voldemort and it tried to take over my mind."

Lupin took the book and with a frown asks, "I will contact Dumbledore so he can look over the book. You look so much like your father, except your eyes, they were your mothers. Though you definitely gains her mind as well."

Harry was silent before he returned to his room that night and sent Hedwig to deliver some mail to Draco, Hermione, Fred and George, informing them of the change in residence and how to get there, before resting his head for the night.

The next morning Fred and George arrived the next morning with Ginny, Arthur and Percy. Ron was still grounded and stuck doing chores at home with Molly keeping watch. Arthur though took the tour with Harry holding what appeared to be a clip board and none enchanted quill. Harry would ask what he was doing and Arthur answered, "Well, my division was not active during your Grand Father's time and yesterday when you inherited the castle the Ministry decided that you needed to be raided. Fortunately I could handle that when you sent letters out to Fred and George, I messaged the ministry saying that I can do it by myself." With that Arthur took notes and used his wand to scan for magic enchantments and a some Muggle items that were not enchanted before Arthur found the Duel Platform and only found the enchantment that allowed it to work before Arthur comments, "Well congratulations Harry, your new home is one hundred out of a hundred in the case of enchanted items," Harry blinks before Arthur continued, "The Enchantments on the Duel Platform is one of only two enchantments that can be applied to Muggle Based objects. Much like every Duel Disk in the Wizarding Community. Though the Malfoy's are currently getting raided for dangerous objects, considering that he believes the entire division would be raiding your new home."

Harry returned to the front of the castle where Dudley was duelling Ginny apparently helping her in learning to duel. Ginny though was using one of the twins' Duel Harnesses. Though she was using her own deck that the twins helped her build. She appeared to be learning quickly. Harry paused before looking to Arthur and asking, "Mister Weasley, how would someone implant an echo of a person's spirit or will into an object?"

Arthur frowns before saying, "That is very dark magic Harry. Did you find such an object here?"

"No, in Ginny's Cauldron after Lucius placed a book in Ginny's Cauldron before I took it when you punched him in the face for the crowd," Harry states before Arthur was worried for Harry's safety, "Lupin should have contacted Professor Dumbledore and decided on what to do with the book."

Arthur sighs in relief before saying, "Consider the Weasley Family eternally allied with the Potter Clan," the two shake hands before commenting, "Though I have to ask, are you really friends with Malfoy's son?"

"Yeah, I did kind of destroyed his life in Slytherin at Hogwarts in front of his father," Harry admits before Draco arrived behind them sporting a black eye. In the end, Harry let Draco spend a few days at Potter Castle before returning home and that night, Fred, George and Ginny stayed over as well going over most of the cards in Harry's extended collection before he gifted them each a some cards and a Booster pack each along with one for Ron when they went home. In the end Ginny decided on the type of duellist that she would become and the theme of her desk. While Fred and George decided to make a singular deck of a hundred and twenty cards that they then randomly split into two decks and were happy with the results. Dudley even helped Draco make a deck that he could be proud of using in a duel.

Over the next month Harry and Dudley enjoyed spending time with their wizard friends, Though Dudley even started talking with his duelling friends to get signed up to return to the tournament scene Lupin acting as his Guardian as he started duelling again. His previous disqualification was rescinded by the request of the Duellist Vernon attacked.

By the time Harry and his classmates were ready to start school up again Draco went with Harry using the Flew to access the platform and avoiding the Muggle Entrance where Harry would later discover that Ron would get stuck on the wrong side and steal his Father's car and almost exposing Magic to the world except that the Muggles just assumed that it was a Duel on a rooftop or Duel Monster Publicity stunt which was believed due to the fact a new series of cards came out styled into vehicles in the wrong setting such as flying cars or bicycles underwater. All of which became a big hit in Muggle society and completely missed in the Wizarding World.

Harry sat silently in a cabin with Draco before Hermione, Fred, George, Ginny and a blonde girl with a permanent dazed look in her eyes, though this girl was already wearing her Hogwarts Uniform. Ginny introduces her friend as Luna Lovegood and lifelong friends with Ginny. Threw the trip Draco, Harry, Hermione, Fred, George and Ginny duelled each other without using their duel disks. Harry did not use the Seven Roads Magician or his newer cards he did not have the year before. Harry then looked out the window between duels before asking, "Is it normal for flying cars to follow the train?" Fred, George and Ginny look outside and could only sigh in disappointment when they saw a certain Red Head driving.

Draco and Hermione could only face palm at this before Hermione took Ginny to go get changed, Luna just read her book as the boys get changed. Luna appearing to not peek only for her to smirk when Hermione and Ginny she simply said to Hermione, "Harry appears to be just the right size for you Hermione," Hermione blinked comically before blushing red and sat down on the seat with Luna between her and Harry.

Draco speaks, "I spoke to Dobby some more he still refused to explain what my father is planning."

Harry nods before saying, "Probably that book he tried to pawn off on Ginny with a part of Voldermort inside it." That caused an audible gasp from everyone before Harry smirls and says, "Pity that its attempts at messing with my mind resulting in me being an immature boy. Chained it up before giving it to Lupin to take it to Dumbledore."

Draco frowns before chuckling and says, "Well that is good. Hopefully Dobby will get the memo. So what did my father plan to do with the book?"

"Never got that far with the book," Harry admits before he says, "We probably will never know," which would turn out to be true as Dumbledore would speak with the book to learn its secrets and discover a dangerous secret that would be removed from the castle next summer break before it was used to find a way to destroy items much like it. Harry then says, "Not really any chance for this year to be boring. Not that it will stop the Duelling clubs from wanting to beat us."

Draco nods before asking, "You bring your pins?" Harry reached into his trunk and proceeded to add them to his school uniform. Draco then comments, "I did some research apparently this year, the clubs for Tag, Board game and Free for all are in the process of changing leaders of the clubs. Meaning they won't be accepting challengers this year. Oh Harry are you interested in joining the Quiditch team?"

"No," Harry said simply and was about to be asked why he simply says, "I am not really a big fan of heights," receiving looks of disbelief from the boys and Ginny, which caused some confusion.

Draco recovers and says, "Wow, any idea why?"

"Uncle Vernon's idea of a punishment was to threaten to throw me off a cliff when I was younger. Unfortunately something crazy occurred at the time and then being dangled over a cliff by the Ankle," everyone was shocked, "I was three at the time."

Hermione simply states, "He can't hurt you anymore." Harry nods in thanks to her before Hermione comments, "I wonder what Professor Lockhart will teach us. The books were rather strange, if I had to guess he must know of a time travel spell or maybe and enchanted clock."

Harry frowns before suggesting, "Or it is a complete work of fiction," Hermione blinked before pinching the bridge of her nose at her stupidity. Harry simply asks, "Which books?"

"Twilight," Hermione admits before blushing in embarrassment, "Only reason I did not realise was because he reversed the Gender and made it about French Vaala instead of vampires and got with all of them to stop them from killing each other."

Hermione sighs in annoyance as they look at her in sympathy before Harry spoke, "Let's actually see if he can teach before we judge this fraud." Everyone nodded at that before they fell into a relaxed conversation along with some more duels that they enjoyed.

Hogwarts-Path to the castle-Once the Hogwarts Express dropped off the students.

Harry pulled his trunks and empty cage towards the castle as they walked over to the foot path leading up to the castle that had carriages that pulled themselves towards the castle in a round trip. Harry and friends used one such carriage with Neville who apparently was bullied the entire trip on the Hogwarts Express. That being said they helped Neville to the castle while Harry mentally planned to help Neville. They rode the Carriages to the castle where they past the black lake as they saw Ron in the family car flew over the Black Lake. They heard nothing more about it until the next day where Ron was given detention and his family was apparently reprimanded only to not get in trouble as he sold the designs for the Magic Car to be used by the Aurors' of the Ministry.

Harry sat with Draco, Hermione and Neville near where the First years would sit. Dumbledore made the speech as they all noticed that Snape was missing along with Professor McGonagall, leaving Professor Flitchwick to call on the first years names, where Ginny was placed in Gryphindor and Luna in Ravenclaw.

Dumbledore gave a quick speech informing the students of the normal rules along with stating the third floor corridor was no longer out of bounds and mentions that one of the girls Bathrooms were out of bounds for the next year as apparently a former student left behind a dangerous ward that needed to be removed away from the students. Dumbledore then surprised everyone by stating, "This year Hogwarts will have a tournament between the four houses. Quidditch will still be on, but we will be including a Duel Monsters Tournament to the house cup," everyone muttered to each other in excitement as Dumbledore continued, "Each house will have Sixteen students apply starting tomorrow night. In one month's time, brackets will be decided at random. Though those applying are to decide on what special skill they will be able to use once per duel, no skills that cause an instant win, and you can have the same skills. Each house Common Room will have a list of Skills to choose from. Along with a list of rules for the tournament."

With that Dinner was then served before Dumbledore silently excused himself quickly while Lockhart did the same thing only to come back ten minutes later disappointed as whatever he had planned apparently failed.

Harry finished his meal as Ron came rushing in and says, "Sorry I was late. Car trouble," he smirks at his bad joke before Harry finished eating and decided to go to bed for the night much to Ron trying to tempt Harry into waiting for him. Only for Hermione, Draco and Neville to make a hasty retreat with Harry. Harry wrote a letter that night and proceeded to send Hedwig on a night flight.

The following week-After the start of classes.

During the week Each House suggested Harry and his friends, minus Ron and the twins, Ron because he had detention one day a week for the next year disqualifying him from duelling. The Twins choosing to having their club entertaining students while the top Duellists at Hogwarts were getting ready for the Tournament. In the End Harry, Draco and a surprised Neville were signed up for the tournament.

Saturday-Great Hall-Morning

Harry was silently eating with Draco, Hermione, Neville and Ginny, Ron was still sleeping off the detention from last night. The mail then arrived with the Owls flew into the great hall, as Ginny and Neville received package each. When opened they were surprised to discover that they both now had a Duel Harness each, Neville receiving a black and Crimson Duel Harness while Ginny received a Pink and Gold Harness. They read the notes that came with it to then look at Harry who ignored them as he ate. Harry only stopped eating when a familiar owl called out. Harry looked up in time to see Hedwig carrying what appeared to be a paper wrapped broom through the air before dropping it down to Harry, who raised a hand and caught the package before he opens the package revealing a brown with golden shine broom.

Draco being the closest to read the name at the tip of the broom, "A Nimbus Two Thousand! Man someone must want you to play Quiditch."

Harry frowns before looking through the remains and not finding anything detailing the sender so he silently took the broom and went over to his head of House and says, "Professor, I was just sent this and there was no details on the Sender."

McGonagall accepted the broom and says, "I will have it examined. If there is no dangers I will return it to you. Do you intend to try out for the Quidditch team?"

"No, I am scared of heights," Harry stated before starting to walk away before stopping and looking over his shoulder and says, "If there is nothing wrong with that, can I loan it to the team?"

McGonagall chuckles before commenting, "I am sure that the team would be thankful."

McGonagall walked away with the broom as Harry returned to a surprised Draco who asked, "WHY?"

"I don't know who sent me a broom," Harry stated before commenting, "I chose to be careful over tripping a booby trap."

Draco blinks before sighing and says, "Yeah that makes sense," Draco stands and looks to Neville, "Come on I will teach you how to use your Duel Harness." Draco then took Neville away from the Great Hall before Ron arrived to start eating everything that was left in the last five minutes of breakfast before it vanished quickly to be thrown out. Harry quickly leaves the Great Hall with Hermione and Ginny, heading to the Library where the trio went to practice for the coming tournament avoiding the use of a Duel Harness to stop people spying on them. Proven by the Slytherin First years who had been following them. Of course the day became longer when a Gryphindor First year arrived and took a photo of Harry with an over sized camera. Harry blinked the light out of his eyes before the two talked about not doing that in the future and Harry giving him some knowledge on living with Wizards and how to avoid being left destitute outside of Hogwarts.

That Night Gryphindor Common room

Harry was duelling against Hermione with her yet to be completed deck she had yet to complete, every card needed to be calculated and tested before they were a permanent part of her deck. Harry though was finally using some of his new cards that were making it difficult for Hermione to use any of the cards she had decided on for her deck. Eventually Hermione could only sigh and say, "These cards you used to make your deck are way to powerful."

Harry nodded and says, "My father had really good taste in cards and the old owners of the card shop having a bargain bin," getting a snort from Hermione. Harry then looks to the entrance as a commotion at the entrance where when it opened they saw a stunned Neville and Draco surrounded by supportive House mates celebrating Neville. Harry asks, "What happened?"

Draco spoke, "Neville just won against a last year from Slytherin."

Flashback-An hour after Neville and Draco left the great hall.

Neville had been learning how to use his Duel Harness. So far Neville had been able to get comfortable with this new way of duelling for Neville. Neville's plant monsters were very difficult to use, but the majority of his cards were low level along with spells and traps, his true ace monsters were in his extra deck except for one monster. Neville was about to start another practice duel with Draco only for Draco to be knocked away by Crabbe with his wand while several other second year Slytherin boys surrounded Neville while Crabbe spoke to Neville, "Nice Duel Harness, I think I will take it," he activated his Duel Harness, "Once I show the school that some loser like you can never win against your betters," he activated his Duel Harness while those surrounding Neville forced his Harness to activate. "DUEL!" Crabbe shouts. Crabbe drew his hand and then drew a card, "I play Celtic Guardian in attack mode and as you passed your first turn I attack you directly." Celtic Guardian went to attack as Neville drew his hand and placed one card in the graveyard resulting in Celtic Guardian turning around and attacking Crabbe. Crabbe shouts, "What?"

Neville says, "I played the hand trap, Flower's Allure, when a monster attacks me directly I can sacrifice this card from my hand so that the monster attacks their master."

Neville LP: 4000

Crabbe LP: 4000-1400=2600

Neville continues, "is it my turn?"

Crabbe shouts, "No it is still mine as you skipped your turn again," Crabbe drew another card and says, "Now I summon my Alligator Swordsman! To attack you directly!" with that Alligator Swordsman attacked only for Celtic Guardian to step in the way and be destroyed.

Neville states, "Flower's Allure then places your monster on my side of the field and you receive the battle damage when it is destroyed."

Neville LP: 4000

Crabbe LP: 2600-300=2300

Crabbe states, "My turn," he drew never noticing that Neville was drawing his card as his right whether he plays or not. Neville looked at his card and could only smile lightly as Crabbe played a card, "I summon Knight of Landstar and have both monsters attack you directly!"

Crabbe smirks only for his two monster to be destroyed as Neville speaks, "When my opponent attacks with two monster while I have none, I can tribute your monsters to summon this monster to my side of the field, Thorn Bird," Thorn Bird is green and covered in thorny vines, "a level five monster with one hundred attack, this monster's effect causes your turn to end and mine to begin, though it will be destroyed at the end of my turn. I draw and summon a Tuner monster," many students had rushed out the castle and towards Hagrid's hut as Neville began the final turn of the duel, "Rose Tuner," with that a small rose monster appeared on the field as Neville spoke, "I TUNE ROSE TUNER WITH MY NONE TUNER THORN BIRD AND SYNCHRO SUMMON! Come Forth my Dragon! BLACK ROSE DRAGON!" with that a monster that was a fusion of red rose and black dragon appeared on the field scaring the Slytherin students and Crabbe to piss his pants as Neville continues, "Black Rose Dragon has an attack of twenty four hundred. Meaning I win. Attack," with that Black Rose Dragon roared launching Crabbe back and Neville winning the due on his third and only turn to play.

The cheering from the Gryphindors was deafening as they celebrated the stunned Neville who was only looking at the field in shock as Black Rose Dragon returned to his card and everyone started asking him questions on how he summoned the Dragon as the Slytherin's dragged an unconscious Crabbe to the Hospital Wing.

Luna had watched the duel over her book and could only smile in thought as she was actually looking at her own deck of cards specifically a special Synchro dragon card and a black card. Luna smiles as she returns to reading her book while her feet were bare on the grass as she sat on a stone.

With Luna-The present

Luna did her homework as the other Ravenclaws searched through their decks organising them and reading carefully searching for Tuners and not having much luck. Luna smiles as she continues doing her homework as one of the other first years walked away with a pair of Luna's socks.

Tournament rules

Four brackets with four duellists from each house where they will be randomly placed against others from their bracket.

Skills are only to be used once per duel with the assigned limitations.

Life points are 8000

Skill list

Double Draw-discard one card from top of your deck and draw two cards.

Quick attack-send three monsters from the field to summon a Level 6 or higher to attack directly

Absorb-when life points are less than a thousand direct attacks for one turn increases life points instead of dealing damage.

Instant Spell-You can activate a chosen spell from your deck in exchange for a thousand life points.

Instant Trap-same as Instant Spell only with traps

Token Defence-when about to be direct attacked by one or more monsters summon tokens equal to the number of attacking monsters.

Dice Chance-Dice roll, One of six possible effects
1: No direct attacks for the rest of the duel
2: Half one monsters attack and defence
3: Draw three cards
4: Summon without the need to tribute once
5: Both players banish five cards from top of the deck
6: Both Players receive damage equal to half the attack of all monsters they control.

Card Banish-Both players choose a monster type, (Beast, warrior, Spellcaster, etc," their opponent cannot play these monsters.

Final turn-when Life Points are less than a thousand at the beginning of your turn before drawing a card, when the card is drawn and if it is a monster summon the creature with double attack. If they do not win they lose at the end of their turn.

:End of Chapter three:

Yes the Harry in this story is smarter than the books and movie, and his friendship with Draco means Draco would give Harry some warning. Dudley is also more friendly with Harry compared to the books and movies. That being said in this story, the Chamber of Secrets will not be of any use in this story for now.
