Magic in the Dark C6
So now the finals for year two, this may take a while.

:Chapter Start:
Hogwarts-Gryffindor Common Room-Couple days since last chapter
Harry, Draco, Hermione, Neville, Ginny, Luna and the twins were studying for several tests coming in the next three weeks after the finals. They were silently studying as eventually Ginny asks, "Is it Levi-Oh-sa or Levi-oh-SA?" Hermione chuckles at that and explained it to Ginny.
Harry smiled at that, remembering what happened last year with the Troll, he then returned to reading his defence text book that Lupin got him. Apparently the DADA tests were written by the Ministry for security reasons, apparently teachers in the past had accepted bribes resulting in criminals getting into the Auror forces of the ministry. Luna suddenly looked up from her upside down book as she asks, "What is wrong, Harry?"
Harry simply says, "I was wondering when Lockhart is going to get fired." Getting nods from everyone. Harry continues to read before finally adding, "I need a break."
Draco hums in thought before admitting, "We all should. Three of us have important duels and we don't want to burn ourselves out before then."
Neville frowns from his potions text book before looking up to say, "Yeah, I am not looking forward to my duel."
Hermione frowns before commenting, "You will do fine Neville. You are in the finals, win or lose that is a big accomplishment."
"My Gran won't care, she felt that Duel Monsters was a big waste of time and one of the reasons that she lost my parents," Neville admits in sadness.
Harry frowns at that before asking, "How did you lose them?"
"They are in Saint Mungoes Mental ward, tortured by death eaters after You-Know-Who's death. Trying to find out what happened to their master," Neville admitted sadly.
Harry places a hand on Neville's shoulder and says, "So there is a chance you can get them back," Neville looks to Harry in surprise but smiles at the thought, thankful for having a great friend. Harry then looks at everyone and says, "Don't hold back Draco."
Harry's statement and smirk was met with Draco smirking and countering, "I was hoping you would," getting a laugh from everyone.
The twins though added in their twin talk, "Then you are in the wrong contest," patting each of Draco's shoulders and added, "We already have our money on Harry."
With that the group of friends split up with Hermione helping Neville with his deck, while the twins were joking around with Draco, leaving Ginny and Luna were getting assistance with their decks for fun. Though he found Luna's Star deck was really interesting for a deck, especially if it was part of a tournament. It was getting late and it was time for dinner when everyone suddenly looked to Luna and blinked as after several hours of studying together they realised that a Ravenclaw student was in the Gryffindor Common room. They walked out the common room silently before walking to the great hall for dinner. Luna would sit with the Gryffindors that dinner before going back with her House mates for the night.
Day of the DM tournament finals-Saturday-Lunch.
Harry and Draco were sitting across from one another eating lunch as they waited for the time to head to the Quiditch Pitch for the duels. Neville was several seats down with the twins and Hermione doing their best to support their friend before their duel. The Slytherines were busy trying to taunt the three Gryffindor competitors to knock them out tournament. Harry and Draco ignored them while Nevile was struggling to handle everything. The time went by quickly and silently for Harry and Draco as they finished their meals before Harry finally says, "Good luck," before standing.
Draco smiles and says, "We don't need luck for this. May the better duelist win," joining Harry and the two walked out the great hall before completing everything they needed to do before meeting at the Pitch. Everyone started moving around the school to the Pitch.
Harry and Draco were sent to the Quiditch locker rooms for the colour they were assigned for the duel. They would be given ten minutes to prepare and allow all the students to find their seats in the stands.
Quiditch Pitch-Time of the first Duel.
In the middle of the Quiditch Pitch were two wooden platforms like the last time that Harry duelled in the stadium. The teachers were sitting to the eastern side of the pitch while on the western was all the duellist who had lost prior. On the North side of the pitch behind the one platform was Gryffindors and Luna where sitting in support, while on the South side of the Pitch was several Slytherine's waiting to for the duel to start. Though several Ravenclaws and Hufflepuff students joining them to watch the duel.
In the Gryffindor Locker Room, Harry was sitting down at a bench going over his deck as he switched one or two cards from his side deck before finally nodding at having his deck ready to duel.
In the Slytherine Locker Room, Draco was doing the same thing only with less cards to be changed as he finishes he hears Dumbledore's voice shout to everyone.
"This is a momentous event, the final of a new sport to be played at Hogwarts. Which has not been done for over two centuries. I would like to thank Mister Potter's actions last year revealing to the magical community of how Duel Monsters is played, something that had not been properly explored. Now with my little speech complete I call out Mister Harry Potter and Mister Draco Malfoy to begin the finals of this tournament."
With that Harry came out the South West door leading to the pitch while Draco walked out the North East and walked over to their platforms with Harry hesitant as he looks at it before shouting to the teachers, "Did you remove the levitation charm from when I duelled here last?"
Draco was also hesitant to stand on the opposite side and waited for Dumbledore to answer, "They were removed right after your Duel, Mister Potter." Harry nods before walking on to the Platform easily as Dumbledore took position as the Ref for the duel. Once Harry and Draco were in positions with their Duel Harness activated with their decks inserted. Dumbledore simply waited for both Wizard duellists to nod to him to start. Dumbledore pulled out a coin and says, "Mister Malfoy, please call which side of the coin."
"Heads" Draco simply said before Dumbledore flipped the coin.
Once at the height of the coin's arc before it expanded to show which side the coin was seen face up. The side pointed up was the heads. Dumbledore asks, "Mister Malfoy, do you wish to go first or second?"
Draco hums in thought before admitting, "I will go first."
Dumbledore nods before banishing the coin and says, "Then let the duel begin," with that Dumbledore was sitting with the teachers as the two duellist draw their first five cards.
Before the duel could begin, Snape was silent as Lockhart was talking about how he taught Harry everything he knew about Duelling. Snape grit his teeth at the words knowing full well that Lockhart was lying, he knew quite a lot due to being Dumbledore's most trusted informant. Snape knew it was just a nice way of saying spy but that is what happens when you have a dark load detector on your arm. Snape did not mind mainly because of Dumbledore stopping him from going to Azkaban after the war. Lockhart continued talking about what he expects to happen in this duel.
Duel Start
Harry LP=8000
Draco LP=8000
The two faced one another ready to duel when Draco starts, "To begin I summon Armed Dragon LV3 in defence mode and play two cards face down and end my turn."
Lockhart to the side spoke to Snape and the other teachers, annoying them, "What mister Malfoy clearly plans for is Harry to attack his monster only to reverse the attack back at Harry."
What they did not expect was Draco planned something completely different. Harry drew a card as he says, "My turn, to start I summon Skilled Dark Magician before playing the spell, Double Summon and with it, it lets me summon a second monster, Magician's Valkyria in defence mode. I play one card face down. Now I attack your Armed Dragon LV3."
Skilled Dark Magician charged it's weapon and attacked the dragon causing Draco to smirk and says, "I activate my trap card, Level up. This lets me switch out my Armed Dragon LV3 with Armed Dragon LV5!" the small brown and orange dragon was replaced with a large Black and red dragon with what appeared to be spiked boxing gloves.
Harry smirks and says, "Spell card activate, Attack Stop, this forces all attacking monsters to stop their attack and return to their positions. With that my Skilled Dark Magician's effect activates, by tributing it and it's three counters I am aloud to summon my Dark Magician to the field!" with that Dark Magician was on the field in attack position. Harry then continues, "With that I end my turn, as I have summoned after my attack phase. I really should have looked at your duels more, I see that you are using the Armed Dragon cards your father had."
Draco smirks as he draws a card before saying, "True, but your cousin was very helpful in that he apparently had these cards in some of his older decks."
Harry nods while saying, "Yeah, though he had a slight problem with them, they are for long game duels."
Draco laughs and says, "And this won't be?"
Harry simply argues, "They haven't so far."
Draco smirks in mischief before admitting, "Then I will make you enjoy it! I play my Knight of Landstar in defence mode and now I attack your Magician's Valkuryia with Armed Dragon LV5," Magician's Valkuryia was destroyed before Draco says, "I will now end my turn, causing my Dragon's effect to activate. When he destroys a monster on the field, during the End Phase I can tribute my Armed Dragon LV5 to summon my Armed Dragon LV7 from my hand or deck," he reached down to his deck and was received his Armed Dragon LV7 monster card to summon while sending his Armed Dragon LV5 to the grave.
Harry crossed his arms as the winds blew as Armed Dragon Lv5 was replaced with a less cartoony dragon with it's dark reboot, with more serated blades along it's body the roar actually scared a few students. The stand literally shakes with power as the monster glared at Dark Magician as it was now Harry's turn.
Harry drew his next card and looked smirks as he knows what was going to happen next, "I will start my turn by playing one card face down in my spell zone and play the spell card, Swords of Revealling Light!" creating the glowing swords in the air around the Dragon. Harry took a deep breath before he says, "I end my turn."
Harry watched Draco carefully as he drew his card and says, "You should have destroyed my dragon, even with it unable to attack I can still discard a card and have all monsters are destroyed if they have the same or less attack," Draco smirk was met with a look that said I know. Draco simply says, "Unfortunately I don't have a monster that can destroy your Dark Magician yet. So I end my turn," Draco ended his turn.
To the side Lockhart spoke again, "A great move on Harry's part, but all he needs to do to destroy his dragon with the special card I gave him." Snape glares at him as the duel continued.
Harry drew his card and says, "My move," Harry looked through his hand and thought of his hand to find a plan. Harry looked at his hand deep in thought going over the three cards in his hand. One he cannot use yet so he had two cards in his hand he could use. Harry closed his eyes and took a deep breath before calmly making a decision, "I end my turn," without playing a card. He has two turns to find a way to win this.
Draco draws his card before saying, "I play one card face down and end my turn," he played a single card in the spell zone. Draco then spoke, "I take it you will be doing a final move once the swords are down."
Harry smiles and says, "Probably, though I will admit so far in this tournament, you and one other has actually given me a challenge. Knowing you, we will be putting on a show once the swords are down," Harry drew his card and looks at the four cards in his hand and says, "I play three cards face down," leaving one card in his hand. Harry then goes on to say, "I end my turn."
Draco drew his card and says, "Then I play one card face down and end my turn."
To the side Dumbledore spoke to an elderly man next to him as he says, "Are you impressed Minister Fudge."
Minister Fudge simply says, "I have already seen enough Albus. After I will contact the Muggle Ministry and organise an expert to organise access to the Duel Monsters Rule book."
"Yes, that will be for the best, though after the tournament finals I would like to speak to you in my office," Albus Dumbledore simply adds, "I need to speak about one of my staff." Fudge simply nods as the duel continued with a running commentary only they were completely wrong as his assumptions and duelling knowledge.
Draco began his turn, "I play one card face down and end my turn. Have your final turn Harry!"
Harry drew his card and smiles before saying, "Well then, if this is my final move I better make it worth it! To start I activate the spell card, Exchange, we pick a card from the other's hand and add them to our hands." With that the two walk forward and proceeded to look at the other's hand, though they only have a single card in their hands. Turns out Draco had Buster Blader in his hand while Harry had Clear Kuriboh in his hand. The two spilt and proceeded to opposite ends of the duel field. They faced one another and Harry continued his turn, "I activate two of my face downs, Polymerisation and Red Eyes Fusion!" Draco blinked at that before knowing full well what was about to happen, "To start I Fuse my Dark Magician with your Buster Blader to summon Dark Paladin! And with Red Eyes Fusion, to fuse my Red Eyes Black Dragon and Summon Skull to create Black Skull Dragon. Due to the rule where Fusion Monsters cannot attack the turn they were summon. So I end my turn."
Draco hums before the swords vanished as he says, "Interesting move," he draws his card and proceeded to glare at it before admitting, "Yeah I will admit that I have yet to get more than one copy of Armed Dragon LV10, and this ain't it. I end my turn."
Harry drew his card and says, "Well then," he looks at his singular card and says, "I attack your dragon with Black Skull Dragon," the dragon created a ball of fire at Armed Dragon LV7.
Draco activated one of his face downs as he says, "I activate Negate Attack. Ending the combat phase."
Harry watched Draco before he says, "I discard one card to activate Dark Paladin's effect to destroy you Negate Attack card, letting my Black Skull Dragon continue his attack."
Draco though activated his second and final face down, "A second Negate Attack, and without a card in your hand, means you cannot use his effect to stop this." Harry though was smirking heavily cause Draco's smirk to turn into a frown before Draco asks, "Your third facedown?"
Harry activated the card revealing 'Double or Nothing!' as Harry says, "Yeah, This is rough for you," Black Skull Dragon's attack doubled and the attack connects.
Harry LP=8000
Draco LP=8000-3600 = 4400
Draco stumbled a bit from that attack before standing as Harry says, "With that I end my turn."
Draco stands and draws a card before saying, "I play Battle Ox in defence mode and end my turn."
Harry watched his opponent as he put up his defence, knowing that he had a defence to last an extra turn. Harry drew his card before saying, "I play Monster Reborn and summon Armed Dragon LV7," causing Draco's dragon to appear on his side of the field before he says, "Considering what the card you took from my hand can do, just means you can handle this. Dark Paladin attacks your Axe Warrior," Dark Paladin managed to strikes Axe Warrior. The attack met destroying it before Harry adds, "Now Black Skull Dragon attacks you directly."
Draco simply discards the Kuriboh as he says, "Discarding Kuriboh from my hand negates the damage taken by your monster's attack."
Harry simply says, "Well, it won't stop Armed Dragon LV7!" Harry using Draco's dragon to attack him directly.
Harry LP=8000
Draco LP=4400-2800 = 1600
Harry simply says, "Your turn Draco."
Draco frown before drawing a card and the card he received was going to be a double edged sword. Draco takes a deep breath before muttering, "Can't win without a risk," Draco became determined as he says, "I play the spell, 'Card of Sanctity' causing us both to draw until we both have six cards in our hands," Harry and Draco proceeded to draw until they have six cards each causing Draco to wince before he continues, "Now I play 'Double Summon' meaning I can summon twice this turn. So with that I summon I summon two monsters face down and two cards face down before ending my turn."
Harry nods before drawing a card giving him seven cards causing him to realise what was going to do, "You made a mistake letting me draw six cards," causing Draco's eyes to narrow before Harry added, "But then that was all you could do. I play Advanced Ritual and summon Magician of Black Chaos by sending two monsters to the grave. Now I begin my attack, Black Skull Dragon will attack on your first Monster and then have Armed Dragon LV7 attack your second monster."
Draco suddenly says, "Yeah, then I activate my two traps," and points to Harry to continue.
"Then I discard two cards to disable them," Harry states as the two 'Giant Soldiers of Stone' and as Harry discarded two cards and proceeded to destroy the two traps sending them to the grave. Harry continues, "And with Dark Paladin's effect to gain attack points for every dragon on the field and graveyard, giving my Dark Paladin 2500 extra attack attacking you directly."
Draco could do nothing as he received 2900+2500=5400 attack points hitting him directly.
Harry LP=8000
Draco LP=1600-5400=-3800
Winner Harry Potter
Harry was victory was not considered a surprise as he managed to do what he has been surviving his duels without suffering damage. Everyone besides the Syltherines in the older years clapped in celebration as they went through the motions of victory. Harry walked over to Draco and the pair shaked hands easily completing the round on a friendly terms. Much to the surprise of many with how Draco was beaten with his own monster but overall Draco showed his hand to Harry where the sixth card he drew was Armed Dragon LV10.
Dumbledore stepped forward and says, "Well done, Well done, an entertaining duel between friends. Though I ask that you step to the side, for the second duel of the day. Perhaps you two would enjoy taking over Lockhart's commenting. He appears to have not understood either of your strategies."
Harry and Draco simply shrug as Harry says, "We would need to have intimate knowledge of both Duellists' decks." Draco simply nodded leaving the teachers to nod in agreement and take some seats near Professor Dumbledore and Minister Fudge.
Minister Fudge asks, "Hello, Harry. Please humour a myself, where have you been since that night all those years ago?"
"You mean the night my parents died?" Harry counters.
Minister Fudge simply comments, "Well, I did not want to cause your mind harm."
Harry simply says, "Well, my magic hating Muggle Aunt and Uncle felt that my freakiness could be beaten out of me. Though my Muggle Cousin actually allowed me to keep my sanity and introduced me to Duel Monsters."
Minister Fudge was uncomfortable as Dumbledore spoke, "Certain wards were needed to ensure Harry's safety after the events of that night forcing him to stay with his Muggle Aunt. Since the end of his first year, we have since found alternative housing that will ensure these wards will be at full strength outside of Hogwarts. I expect that this will be kept between us and out of the Daily Prophet."
"I will endeavour that it stays that way," Minister Fudge states simply.
"Yes, I would hate to reveal some dark secrets of anyone who tries to reveal that information," Dumbledore states as a small beetle could be seen flying away from the area.
Minister Fudge then looks to Draco and asks, "So, Master Malfoy how have you been finding Hogwarts so far?" being polite.
"It is better than spending time with my father at recent times. He tried giving a cursed book to the Weasley Family's youngest and I am not sure why," Draco admits as Dumbledore stepped over to announce the next match, "May Neville Longbottom and Augustus Filtch step forward to begin the second duel of the finals," Augustus Filtch stepped out the Ravenclaw Locker room while Neville was not seen. After five minutes of waiting Neville never stepped out and Severus Snape went to search for Neville only to come back out with Madam Pomfrey quickly to return to the Hufflepuff Locker Room only to come back out a couple minutes later to find Neville on a stretcher being moved to the Hospital wing with two broken legs and single broken arm. No spells had been used and the damage was caused by a Beater Bat that was taken from storage. After some discussion with Snape and Pomfrey before the two took Neville to the hospital wing to get healed up. Though Harry found it strange that his Duel Harness and his deck was untouched. Dumbledore spoke up to the students watching the duel tournament were upset that Neville was going to miss his duel and be declared the looser by default, "I am afraid that Mister Neville Longbottom has to forfeit his duel because of injury from an assault from an unknown assailant. With that being said, we will have to move on to the final match of the tournament. Mister Harry Potter and Mister Augustus Filtch please take your positions for the finals of the tournament," Harry Potter stood across from Augustus Filtch ready to duel.
:End of Chapter 6:
So I have had a rematch between Harry and Draco, similar results but at least Draco had a fighting chance.
