Every country needs a place where rules don't apply.
Sometimes, when the sun hit the cliffs just right, the dried clay shone like streaked blood. This, she remembered, as she watched the crimson glint off his eyes. The rush of wind in each hollow and ravine sent chills down her naked spine, down her dusty, golden skin and hooked ankles. It was a sensation only found pressed between hard, dry earth and another's flesh.
Eventually the Sharingan red cliffs would subside to dusky violent and his eyes would darken. Heart pressed against pulsing heart synchronized with the howling wind- the rhythm, identity of their country.
Limb wrapped around pale limb; she played the sun to his hidden flesh. First she'd warm it, then kiss it, then mark it as her own. His immodesty shone in sharp contrast with his wire hair and plum-rimmed eyes, lips, cheeks. She found herself a moth dancing treacherously close to his candlelight skin. She'd learned to find pleasure in the eventual burning.
She found a twisted satisfaction in knowing she was his first, his only. It was an unspoken agreement between them when they visited the Badlands. Only in the heady perfume of scattered sage and sweet grass, stippled across the high plateaus. Only without boundary, secret, excuse, or shame. This was the nature of their relationship.
Although sometimes she hoped he'd become impatient and enter her bedroom one night. She left the candles burning for him regardless. Then she'd see his pale skin unfold atop her in its true identity, his black robes discarded on her tile floor. She dreamed of the beautiful contrast and the secrets held beneath it. She dreamed of limb wrapped around pale limb without the hard earth holding her back.
But it didn't matter at that moment, when the earth felt dangerous and the night felt alive. It didn't matter that sunset washed over their bare bodies. It didn't matter that the canyons swarmed with bandits. It didn't even matter that they were siblings. She felt connected to the streaked scarlet cliffs and his flushed skin and her pulse, her blood inside of him. Anyway, the rules didn't apply here.
