She couldn't remember when
He had said goodbye
Cast her that last lost look
And spread his wings to fly
She didn't want to see those images
In her blurry memory's eye
When he had told her of his love
And she broke down and started to cry
He had lost his life in the color steel
Lost everything he had in the span of sigh
But he felt nothing more
As he took to the sky
She looks up at the sky everyday
Hoping that she can see him there
Wondering if she can still see him
In the blue they wanted to share
Nights went by quickly
And the girl grew old
But she never let the story of she and the boy
Go lonely and untold
And he was still flying
Wanting to hold her close to his heart
Knowing that even the gentlest of winds
Could blow them apart
She still sits there today
Singing of their lost romance
Feelings that weren't rusted in age
Formalities not lost to nonchalance
And she still cries today
As she writes love letters to heaven
Knowing they'll sustain his spirit
Until she can see him again
