Authors note: Hey guys!
I know people have read this fic as a few people have favourited and followed it, however I can't see how many people have viewed my stories anymore. It's a recent problem with my stories. My latest chapters on my other stories say no one has seen them, with this story it says no one has seen it at all. I don't know how to fix this or if I even can but if anyone knows how, let me know. It's not a huge problem so... Meh.
With this story I'll jump from different scenes, like how in my last chapter they were on the train and now they're in the great hall, I'm doing this so I can get to the more important/interesting parts of the story.
Anyway, sorry for talking for so long. The Harry Potter universe belongs to J.K Rowling. Have a great time reading! :)
Sophie entered the great hall staying close to Neville and Hermione.
If someone were to call her nervous it would be an understatement.
She looked around before looking up at the roof along with Hermione who quietly whispered, "It's bewitched to look like the sky outside, I read about it in-" "-Hogwarts: A History." Sophie finished. Hermione grinned at her.
Professor McGonagall placed an old looking hat on a stool.
Sophie knew she should have been listening but she was too nervous so she just stood quietly looking around at the four different tables.
The thing that made her come back to reality was the name 'Potter.'
"Potter, Harry."
Harry walked confidently forwards, sitting down happily on the stool.
Seconds after the hat touched his head it screamed, "GRYFFINDOR!"
Harry jumped off the stool, a smug look on his face. He sat down at the Gryffindor table and Sophie turned her attention back to McGonagall.
"Potter, Sophia."
Sophie nervously walked up to the stool while the whole school broke out into whispers.
"Another Potter?"
"Who knew there was another Potter alive."
"Was she kept a secret?"
Sophie sat down on the stool and let McGonagall place the hat on her head.
"Another Potter." A voice in her head said. 'The forgotten one.' Sophie thought, feeling slightly annoyed, did no one know she existed? "Maybe," The hat said. "But you're certainly more powerful." 'Yeah right.' Sophie thought sarcastically. "Now, where to put you." The hat said, completely ignoring her comment. "Courageous, yes but also smart, cunning, loyal," 'So which one is it?' Sophie asked impatiently.
"GRYFFINDOR!" The hat shouted.
Sophie sighed, tugged the hat off her head and walked over to the Gryffindor table.
She sat down next to Hermione and looked down at the empty plate on the table.
"Do you know where the food is?" She asked.
"It appears after Professor Dumbledore says his speech." Hermione answered quickly.
"I wish it would appear now." Sophie grumbled.
The last of the first years were sorted and Dumbledore stood up to address the school, "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak! Thank you!"
Sophie burst out laughing but she wasn't heard over the loud applause coming from the rest of the school.
She glanced over at Hermione to see her stifling a giggle.
Sophie then looked back down at the plates and was pleased to see that the food was now there. She filled her plate and began eating.
"Slow down, you'll choke." Hermione told her. "Don't care, need food." Was all Sophie managed to say with her mouth full.
Hermione sighed and turned back to her own plate.
"So Hermione," A boy named Seamus tuned to her, "What's your blood status?"
"I'm... muggleborn, yes, I think that's the term." Hermione said thoughtfully.
What about you Sophia?" Seamus turned to Sophie.
"Sophie please." She muttered before saying, "I'm a half-blood, my mum was a muggleborn witch and my dad was a pure-blood."
"How d'you know?" Harry asked a few seats away. "I did research." Sophie snapped at him.
Everyone stared at her as if surprised that she would be so short with the-boy-who-lived.
"I lived to, you know. I'm here." Sophie rung her hands. "Yeah, but he defeated you-know-who." Another first year named Dean said indignantly. "Yeah, whatever." Sophie muttered in annoyance, turning away.
Once everyone had eaten as much as they wanted, the desserts appeared.
Neither Sophie or Hermione had any, stating that, 'they didn't think it was healthy, eating so much food.'
Once the desserts had disappeared Dumbledore stood up again and informed them about a deadly third corridor before telling them to go off to bed.
"That was reassuring." Sophie muttered along with Hermione.
The first years followed Percy Weasley up to the Gryffindor common room and went up to their dormitories.
Sophie and Hermione chose beds which were next to each other, undressed and got into their beds.
Before Sophie could say anything she fell asleep.
