Attacked-Ch 6
Derek and Fran sat by Penelopes bedside watching her and listening to the swoosh swoosh of the ventilator and the beeping of her heart monitor as those two sounds filled the room. Fran put her hand on top of her sons hand and said, "she's going to be fine, she's got a tough road ahead of her but she's a fighter and we will all be there by her side to help her".
He sighed and said, "my heart is breaking for her momma, she was raped, beaten, stabbed multiple times and probably left for dead, what if I hadn't shown up when I did"?, Fran said, "don't think about it that way, just be glad that you did arrive in time, she's alive honey everything nothing else is important right now".
Derek nodded his head and said, "momma what if she's pregnant from the attack", Fran shook her head and said, "they gave her their version of the morning after medication". Derek gave a sigh of relief knowing that at least she wouldn't have to worry about carrying a rapists child inside her, he knew that if she would have done that it would have completely broken her, not that she'll be totally complete, not now, not after everything that's happened to her.
Fran smiled at her son and said, "I'm glad that you're finally going to tell her that you love her", Derek said, "things were just never right, either I was seeing somebody or she was but now we are both single and no other woman means anything to me, she's the woman I love with all of my heart, she's the woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with".
He glanced down at her and said, "and I'll tell you just as soon as you open those beautiful eyes and look at me and I promise you that I will never let anybody ever hurt you like this again". Fran sat back in her chair and watched as her son intertwined fingers with Penelope, it was oh so obvious that they loved each other but she knew her son and she knew that he would tell her the truth and as far as she was concerned, the sooner he told her the better.
Fran knew that things were going to be hard on Penelope, when a woman is raped she locks herself off from everybody and everything, she feels shattered, destroyed and she's afraid that Penelope will do the same thing. As she watched the rise and fall of Penelopes chest she silently vowed to be by Penelope's side and help her through everything because that's what a mother does, she stands by and protects those she loves.
Meanwhile at the BAU they looked at the footage that was sent to them by the police department and you could see the masked man so they could get an approximate height and weight but nothing else. JJ said, "well whoever he is I'll give him one thing, he's smart, he's smart enough to wear a mask" and the others nodded their heads yes in agreement.
They were pulled from their conversation when Hotch's cell phone started ringing, he pulled it from his belt and said, "Hotchner" and they watched as his body stiffened. Hotch said, "how long ago" and they waited and then he said, "how is she doing"? and then he said, "I'll send some of my agents to talk to her at the hospital, thank you for calling me and letting me know" and then after the call ended he put his cell back on his belt and looked up at the others.
Dave said, "what happened"?, Hotch said, "another woman has been attacked in her home just like Garcia was" and JJ said, "do we know for sure that it's the same man that assaulted Garcie"?, Hotch said, "the woman said that all her rapist kept saying was that she wasn't as good as Penelope was" and everybody looked at him and Reid said, "so we definitely have a serial rapist on our hands".
Hotch looked up at JJ and Emily and said, "I want the two of you to head to Mercy General and interview our newest victim", the two women nodded their heads yes as they turned and walked from the room. Reid said, "so that's two victims in two days, what's he gonna do next"?, Dave said, "hopefully slip up and the sooner the better".
Reid looked down at the pictures again and hoped that they would catch this unsub before he hurt another woman like he had hurt Penelope.
