A/N: I planned on finishing this chapter last week but hurricane Ian struck Florida. Managed to get power restored shortly afterwards but much of South Florida isn't so lucky as Fort Myers and Cape Coral took the worst of the damage.

Carefully opening the envelope, Carly grabbed the letter and unfolded it as Gary lightly rubbed her back.

Carly… I hope you're doing okay wherever you're living and I hope that the family that you're living with is treating you better than I have over the past year.

I've been in therapy for the past three months and have been going to AA meetings, I've been sober since July… I often wished that you would run off and that's not fair to you… I feel like I failed you when I was supposed to make sure you're supposed to be protected and loved, kiddo.

I have no right to blame you for what I caused and I know things will never be the way they used to. I know I also have no right asking for your forgiveness after hurting you so horribly but I'm hoping one day that we'll be able to fix things.

You don't have to respond to this letter… just stay safe.

I love you, kiddo.

Mom.

Carly brushed her tears away and set the letter down as Gary pulled her into his arms and they held each other, Carly sobbing as Gary rubbed his right hand up and down her back… and fighting his own tears to try to calm Carly down.

When she stopped sobbing and went quiet, Gary lifted her up into his arms and placed her onto the unmade bed before tucking her into it and climbing under the covers before they held each other and her head rested on his right shoulder.

"Daddy, no! Don't hurt Mommy!"

"You little brat! Stay out of it!"

Gary flinched at the memory of his dad hurting him when he was 7 and trying to protect his mom… the abuse had eventually led to his dad being arrested when Gary was 13 and his mom getting a divorce granted.

Looking at Carly, Gary saw that her eyes were closed… and he kissed her on her forehead.

"You rest as long as you need to, Carly Jade." Gary whispered before he fell asleep as the storm raged on.

When both of them woke up, they didn't hear any signs of a storm anymore… and Gary saw Carly looking at the letter on the nightstand, Gary sitting up and lightly rubbing Carly's right shoulder to get her to look at him.

"What did she write to you?" Gary asked as they looked at each other.

"She explained that she's doing her best to get sober and control her anger. I thought she was still mad at me." Carly explained.

"Parents are complicated at times." Gary responded.

"They are." Carly replied before they kissed and heard Miss Danvers speak over the intercom.

"Attention students and staff, the flash flood warning has been lifted. Please be careful if you go into town and do not go to the carnival as it is temporarily shut down."

"Let's get out for a bit. Take your mind off of things." Gary suggested.

"Good idea." Carly responded before they stood up and got ready, Carly looking at herself in the mirror after putting makeup on before putting a handheld mirror, a nude lip gloss and her flip phone in a brown faux leather purse.

She brushed a stray hair off of her slightly oversized blue plaid long sleeved dress and grabbed her purse before she and Gary left.

On their way to the movie theater, the two saw Dash, Russell, Jimmy and Zoe fixing up a motorbike… and Dash saw Carly before they nodded at each other and Carly and Gary left.

"Is your car okay, Dash?" Zoe asked, Dash turning back to her.

"The windshield got broken badly by a tree. Hoping the insurance deductible will cover the damage." Dash explained. "Are you guys up to anything tonight?" She asked.

"Not much. Was thinking of going to see the original Halloween." Jimmy responded.

"Thoughts on the recent remake?" Zoe asked.

"Eh, it was alright." Jimmy answered.

"Russell likes the original better." Russell explained.

Carly and Gary purchased their tickets, drinks and snacks and walked to the theater room where Halloween was going to be aired, the two sitting down next to each other.

"When my grandparents decided to go see this in 1978, they got so scared that they got up and left halfway through the movie. In some ways, Haddonfield is similar to Ludendorff." Carly explained quietly as the lights dimmed and the movie started.

"Small town, everyone knows each other. No serial killer escaping a mental hospital though, right?" Gary whispered, Carly turning to him after briefly closing her eyes.

"In 1995, someone dressed up as Myers and attacked twenty people on Halloween night. Five people died from their injuries but the police never caught the killer." Carly responded quietly, startling Gary.

"Holy shit. Eerie to think they could still be out there. I bet the media and families blamed the film." Gary replied as he wrapped his right arm around Carly's shoulders and she rested her head on his right shoulder.

"They did. Police did too." Carly whispered.

She remembered that Trevor disappeared a few days after the killings and didn't return to Ludendorff until January of 1998… long before his return, the police had stopped looking for leads as to who the killer was.

In Bullworth Vale, Jazmine was watching Dash and Sally from a distance… and she started planning.

'Not tonight… but someday soon.' Jazmine thought before she left.

September 20th 2007…

'Now or never!' Jazmine thought as she loaded her silenced pistol and got out of the dark grey Sentinel, carefully closing the driver's side door so the neighbors wouldn't be woken up.

She pulled the hood of her jacket up and snuck into the apartment building… and quietly opened the unlocked apartment door, seeing the clock on the wall.

It was just after 2 in the morning… she didn't have time to waste.

Jazmine heard snoring and the Tv at a volume that would've woken anyone else up except for Dash… and Jazmine walked over, grabbing Dash by her hair.

Dash yelled out as the alcohol was still in her system and threw a punch, catching Jazmine off guard and Jazmine yelling after being struck before they struggled for the gun… and Jazmine throwing Dash at the wall, aiming the gun at her.

"You bitch!" Jazmine hissed.

"Takes one to know one! Except I own up to being a bitch, you hide behind a fake personality!" Dash snarked before Jazmine heard the door being forced open.

Jazmine yelled out as she was tackled and held down, the gun being forced out of her hands as Sally and Gary ran in and checked on Dash as Jazmine threw a punch.

Her right wrist was slammed against the wooden floor and Jazmine screamed in pain, Carly standing up after grabbing the gun and aiming it at Jazmine before Jazmine ran off… and Carly handed the gun to Sally before she and Gary ran downstairs.

Jazmine had already ran off… and Carly and Gary knew that the vengeful blonde would be back.
