It was 1 am when Maria had woken up or more like something had woken her up and it wasn't the girls since they were still sleeping, no one had broken into the apartment Maria had checked and double-checked.
It was when she had gotten a glass of water that she had noticed how heavy and swollen her breast felt she almost panicked until she remembered what Laura had said about how her breast always felt swollen and full when she didn't feed Cooper or Lila. As Maira went to massage her breast her thumb made contact with her nipple making her hiss, something Laura seemed to forget to say was how sensitive her breast became.
Maria was thinking about staying up and doing some paperwork when she heard whines coming from her room Fuck. It sounded like only one of the girls was up and by the sounds of it they were close to crying and if what Maria heard was true if one cried they both cried and the last thing she needed was 2 crying babies.
Maria practically jogged to her room as she saw the only one awake was Wanda. The toddler had been looking around the room frantically until Maria brusted into the room. She looked relieved if that was something babies could feel or express.
"Привет, девочка. Что случилось, а? Поговорить с мамой." (Hey baby girl. What's wrong, huh? Talk to mama) As she made her way to the bed swiftly picked Wanda up without making Natasha stir.
"Мама."
"Yes, baby mama's here," Maria said to Wanda as she bounced the girl all the way to the living room, she didn't need a diaper change Maria checked her diaper was still dry and not full so she didn't know why the girl was up.
"Молоко." (milk) Wanda whined as her little hands tried to snake their way into Maria's shirt before she stopped them which only caused Wanda to whine more as Maria tried to shush her.
Maria had seen the way Laura would hold Cooper in order to feed him so Maria tried to copy it as much as she could. She knew Wanda was supposed to be sim-laying down and head supported although she thinks that's only for babies and not toddlers she still does it.
"Молоко." Wanda was now harshly tugging at Maria's shirt creating so much fraction the shirt brushed against her sensitive nipple causing her to hiss. It made Wanda stop and eyes watered unshed tears threaten to spill," Я причинил боль маме? Я плохой." (I hurt mama? I'm bad.) Maria didn't know why Wanda thought she was bad because she wasn't(well she hadn't been bad for as long as Maria had the 2 girls)," Нет, девочка, ты не плохая, ты очень хорошая. Просто будь осторожнее, ладно?" (No baby girl, you're not bad, you're very good. Just be more careful okay?).
Maria got a nod from Wanda, the little girl choosing to dry her tears on Maria's shirt. It made Maria cringed as she felt the tears wet her shirt. Another aspect of motherhood she would have to get used to is being a human tissue.
Maria was nervous, she had never breastfed anyone let alone taken care of a child and now she was supposed to make sure 2 little girls were okay and well-fed when she barely had time for herself.
"Маме." Wanda's voice got Maria out of her thoughts, her little hands snaking their way to her shirt, helping her Maria lift up her shirt taking a shaky breath as she felt the heat of Wanda's little mouth latch onto her nipple this time she suppressed the hiss. Maria didn't need a repeat of what happened earlier.
The only sound that filled the room was Wanda's suckling noise and Maria's and Wanda's breathing. The only thing missing was a rocking chair Maria didn't know why but she felt like she should be rocking Wanda.
The feeling of Wanda sucking on her breast felt right. She didn't know how to explain it but it just felt right and a feeling that Maria didn't know how to explain filled her body. When she had first thought about doing this she was unsure but now sitting here and having Wanda breastfeed from her it just felt right.
She was just missing Steve. This whole thing would be so much better if he was here. Maria remembered when she had found out that Steve was a fugitive it made her angry because they had a good thing going but he just had to refuse to sign the accords she knew she couldn't have been mad at him there was no way he would sing it went against his morals. But all she kept thinking was. Was she not good enough to stay? Did he finally realize she was way too fucked up and used the accords as his way to leave the relationship?
But Maria knew that wasn't the case if Steve really wanted to leave her he would've left long before the accords. Steve loved her and she loved him and there was no way a long-distance relationship would work. Even before the accords they barely had time for themselves and now with him being a criminal it just wouldn't work. So they came to a mutual agreement to let each other go even though it was hard, it was something that had to be done.
Maria couldn't help but imagine what it would be like if he was here now with her taking care of Natasha and Wanda. She knew he would be happy even for a little while playing the part of a parent that what he always wanted was a family. And Maria didn't know if she wanted that. She was always busy with her career and so was Steve. If they were to bring a child into this world she didn't want them to feel as if they weren't loved and that they were second to work.
Maria also debuted she would make a good mother. She knew this whole thing with Natasha and Wanda was not permanent and they might be back to their old selves by next week and her whole life would go back to being work and Natasha and Wanda would slither back into the shadows and hide. But a small part of Maria wanted this to last more than a week. It felt nice having someone else in the apartment and maybe Natasha and Wanda being around would force her to take time off of work. She hadn't done that in a while.
Maria had been so deep in thought that she hadn't realized Wanda had stopped feeding and was now sleeping. Slowly as to not wake the toddler up Maria put her shirt down and made sure Wanda was laying on her chest before she made a move to get up.
Maria had to suppress a laugh when she saw how Natasha was sleeping. The little girl had all 4 of her limbs spread out, surprisingly taking up more space even though she was so little.
It was like an Olympic sport trying to find an empty space to put Wanda down since Natasha was taking most of it up but she was finally able to put Wanda down and was even able to move Natasha so that she could slide into bed. For the first night of Motherhood, it wasn't all that bad, there were hardly any tantrums (so far), and the girls slept for most of the day and weren't all that fussy. So maybe Maria could do this mother thing.
