Attacked-Ch 16
The next morning Penelope was sitting and talking to Derek as they ate the delicious breakfast that Fran and the girls had brought over and as soon as they were finished their attention turned to a knock on the door. Derek turned around and the door opened as a guard said, "their is a Dr. Amelia Knox here to speak to Penelope"
She nodded her head and said, "thank you, please send her in", he nodded his head and stepped back and said, "sorry about that mam" and Amelia said, "no problem at all, I completely understand" as she stepped into the room. Derek stood up and shook hands with her and said, "well if you ladies will excuse me I will leave you alone to talk", he then kissed Penelope gently on the forehead and said, "I'll be right outside",
enelope grinned and said, "thanks hotstuff", he winked at her and said, "anything for you sweetness" and after he had exited the room Amelia sat down beside her and said, "are you ready for our first session"?, Penelope blew out a deep breath and said, "as ready as I am ever gonna be I guess" as she readied for her session to start.
Amelia said, "alright Penelope I want you to tell me as much as you can about the night that you were attacked", she bit down on her bottom lip and then started telling about coming home and taking a bath because she was suppose to be going out with her team and Derek was on his way to pick her up so she wouldn't have to drive".
Penelope continued when she walked out into her bedroom wrapped in a towel and when she got to the part where he started hitting her and slapping her across the face her heart started racing. The sound of her heart monitor alerted Grace who came running into the room with Derek right on her heels as they made it to Penelope's bedside in no time flat.
Amelia said, "Penelope if you aren't able to continue now we can pick this up later", she shook her head and said, "n n no I'm okay, I just get scared when I think back to what happened that's all". Derek said, "are you sure that you're alright"?, she looked up at his handsome face and said, "yes sugar shack I'm fine I promise" and Amelia said, "if you want he can stay".
Derek looked at her and she said, "o o okay" and he sat down and Grace said, "are you sure that you're alright because you heart is still racing, I can give you something to calm you down if you'd like"?, she shook her head and said, "n n no thank you, I'll be okay, I'll be okay" and Grace nodded her head and said, "if you change your mind and want something just let me know" and Penelope said, "I will, thanks Grace".
Grace smiled and then turned around and headed out of the room and Amelia said, "okay Penelope, now continue if you are able to" and she blew out a deep breath and then told more about what happened to her and then stopped when that was all she could remember because she was knocked unconscious.
Amelia said, "are you scared right now"?, Penelope looked up and said, "yes, is that wrong of me"?, Amelia said, "absolutely not, being scared after a trauma like you suffered is totally normal, trust me". Penelope said, "w w were you raped"?, Amelia shifted in her chair and said, "yes about 5 years ago and I felt the same way you do now only I chose to suffer alone and let me tell you that was totally a bad idea".
Penelope listened as Amelia said, "I pushed my friends and family away, even my fiancee but he pushed back and stuck by my side no matter what I tried to do to push him away". Penelope smiled and said, "he sounds a lot like Derek" and Derek winked at her causing her smile to grow even bigger and Amelia said, "do you still feel him touching you"?, Penelope looked down at her hands and nodded her head and said, "yes".
Amelia listened as Penelope said, "I can still feel him touching me, hitting me and that smell, ohhh that smell, his cologne made me nauseated but it didn't bother me until right before I passed out". Amelia said, "do you remember anything about him"?, Penelope said, "he wore a mask so I couldn't see his face but he was about as tall as Derek I'd say and he had dark eyes but other than that I have no idea at all".
Derek looked at her, his heart was breaking as he sat there listening to her talk about being afraid and still being able to feel his touch, he wanted to take away her pain and give her only happy memories. Amelia said, "I recommend a few more sessions and when you are better I would recommend maybe you take some self defense courses, I did and I tell you something Penelope, it gives you a sense of power and if you are like I was, I felt powerless, he took away my reason for living, my trust, my everything"
Penelope nodded her head and said, "I feel that way too" and Amelia handed her a card and said, "this card has all of my numbers on it, if you ever need to talk to me feel free to call me anytime, okay"?, Penelope grinned and said, "thank you, I might take you up on that" and Amelia stood up and said, "anytime you need to talk I'm here" and she nodded her head again and said, "thanks" and then she shook hands with Derek and Penelope and then walked across the room and disappeared out into the hall.
Derek said, "how are you feeling now"?, she sighed happily and said, "a little better, that session really helped me" and Derek grinned and said, "good, good" as he sat there holding her hand. As she sat there looking at Derek she knew that no matter what she would get back everything that her attacker had taken away from her, it might take some time but she would get it all back.
