Life after the honeymoon moved quickly for the newlyweds as month after month passed, the team and Penelope were staying busy with case after case as the unsubs seemed to kick into overdrive. Penelope was now helping from home since she was almost to her due date, she hadn't wanted to go on maternity leave yet but after a talk with Derek and Hotch she decided that it was the right thing to do.

Derek had a computer room fixed up for his baby girl at home for just such an occasion and she was definitely putting it to good use as she had helped them with several cases since going on maternity leave. Penelope was never left alone because the fear was that she would go into labor and they didn't want her to do that when she was alone. Currently, she was sitting in the living room with Clooney and Mudgie by her side.

Fran was in the kitchen fixing some lunch and Derek was outside working on something in the back yard, everything was quiet and peaceful and Penelope was really enjoying this time. Clooney and Mudgie both put their noses to her stomach and started wagging their tails and growling and Penelope said, "What's wrong, what's brought this on?" Fran walked from the kitchen and asked, "Are you alright honey?" Penelope said, "Yeah, I'm fi—" and that's when she was hit with a sharp pain that went from her stomach all the way around to her back.

She winced in pain and Fran was instantly by her side, Clooney and Mudgie sat there looking at her and Fran asked, "Was that a contraction?" Penelope bit down on her lip and said, "I'm not sure, I think it was but" and then another pain hit her, Then she said, "Wow, that was harder than the one before." Fran replied, "Well, I think it's time for us to get you to the hospital" as she reached her hand out to help her daughter-in-law get off of the couch.

As she stood up a splash could be heard and a warm bloody substance ran down her legs and she looked up and said, "Ohhhh that can't be good" and Fran said, "it's okay sweetie, your water broke, we need to get you to the hospital now." As they started for the door Fran said, "DEREKKKKKKKKKKKK" and he stopped what he was doing and ran into the house, he stopped in front of his mom and Penelope and said, "What's wrong, what's going on?" Fran said, "we need to get Penelope to the hospital her water just broke and she's having contractions."

Derek nodded his head as he started helping her to the car, Fran ran upstairs and grabbed Penelope's suitcase and quickly put lunch up and locked the doors as she ran outside and helped Derek get Penelope into the car. Derek drove and Fran sat in the backseat with Penelope as pain after pain hit her and hit her hard, by the time they got to the hospital she was doubled over in pain and almost on the floor.

The door opened and Fran jumped out and a couple of male nurses helped get her out of the car and onto the gurney, as they hurried inside Derek was by her side holding her hand. She was put into a cubicle for a couple of minutes before being moved to maternity and while she and Derek were heading down the hall toward the delivery room Fran pulled out her cell and sent a group text to the team who were away in Utah on a case, she wanted to let them know that Penelope's water had broke and that she was in labor.

Derek and Penelope were in the delivery room and things were going great, she was fully dilated and ready to deliver, she was squeezing her husband's hand as contraction after contraction hit her body. It was only about half an hour before she collapsed against the bed as the cries of her child filled the air, she looked up at Derek and smiled, their child was here, he or she was finally here,

Derek looked at the doctor and said, "The baby, how is the baby?" The doctor grinned as she cut the cord and said, "Don't worry, he's fine, he's fine" and then she wrapped him up for a second, then handed him to his mother. Penelope said, "He... Did you hear that hotstuff, we have a mini hotstuff here with us!" Derek laughed as he wiped the tears away and said, "I heard sweetness, I heard", he then kissed her on the lips and then kissed his son on the forehead and smiled.

He then snapped a picture of his wife and son and sent it to his mom and the rest of the team that said 'IT'S A BOY", he then smiled and cuddled close to his wife and son while they were allowed a few minutes to bond with their son before he was to be taken away to be cleaned, measured and weighed.
