Frank was glad that Percy had dealt with the cannibal giants. It made the trip from the house much easier than it could've been.
Frank had woken up at his Grandmother's side. She lectured him on his family gift, confirming his suspicions. He could be anything. Living that is. Which was probably a good thing. Though it did take the fun out of the idea that he turn into a rock and Percy throwing him as hard as he could at Gaia.
Hazel had apparently made him breakfast. After getting scolded by his Grandmother about her not being his girlfriend, she finally told him that she knew about his quest. She told him how they could get to Alaska. After that, he left her to fall back asleep. Hopefully she would pass peacefully.
He took a quick shower before heading downstairs. Hazel was standing by the island, leaning on it. She wore jeans, a cream-colored jacket, and a white shirt. Her hair fell around her neck. She looked like she was ready for a casual day out at the mall or something.
Percy, on the other hand, looked like he was dressed for a very formal event. He was wearing a new three piece suit with a red pocket square. The blazer itself shone like fire. Tiny people burning were embroidered on it as well. He wore black gloves that disappeared under the sleeves. The only jewelry he had was a blood red ruby ring on his left hand. On his ring finger. His wings were folded behind him as he sat. The only thing contrasting his formal appearance was the sword that hung on his side. Percy never wore a sheathe, but here he was with one. All in all, it looked like he was ready to kick ass, and look good doing it.
He and Hazel were talking as Percy enjoyed a glass of something. He would take sips in between talking.
"He's unkillable while in Alaska. We're going to have to drag him to Canada. Which is easy enough. But we have to release Death first, which makes this more difficult." Percy was saying.
"What's going on?" Frank asked.
Percy turned and smiled. "Ah, Frank. You're finally here! I was just telling Hazel here about how we are going to end this quest."
"Well?"
"Like I was saying. Alcyoneus is unkillable in his homeland. Luckily for us, it's Alaska."
"Alaska is the largest U.S. State, how is that lucky?" Frank said.
"Ah, usually it wouldn't be. But the Giant, being the dumbass he is, made his base about ten miles from Canada. So I just drag him there, and boom, I kill him easily."
"Don't we need god and demigod?" Hazel asked.
Percy sighed. "I'm an exception. Greek rules don't apply to me. Typically. Perks of being an archangel."
Percy took another sip of his drink. There was an uncomfortable silence before Frank started to talk.
"Grandmother said that we can take the car. It's in the garage. There's an airfield a little bit North of here. A retired legionnaire works as a pilot there and he'll take us to where we need to go."
Percy clapped his hands. "Well, let's not dally, shall we?" He said, getting up. He placed his cup in the sink and made his way to the garage. Frank and Hazel followed him.
Percy entered the garage to see the car. He instantly let out a whistle. Sitting in the garage in pristine condition was a black '67 Chevy Impala. Percy ran a gloved hand along the side of the car before getting in the driver's side. He ran his hands along the steering wheel.
"Frank, I'm gonna deliver your grandma to Heaven myself." Percy said.
Frank and Hazel climbed into the backseat.
"Oh wait, I forgot the keys." Frank said.
Percy smiled and looked in the rearview mirror. "We don't need keys." He snapped his fingers and the car engine turned on.
The garage door opened on its own and like that, they were on their way. Percy turned on the radio. He switched through channels, not finding anything that peaked his interests. He sighed and snapped again. Tonight, Tonight by The Smashing Pumpkins started to play.
It wasn't long before they reached the airfield. Percy parked the car and got out. Sure enough, there was a man waiting for them outside of an airplane.
The questers walked up to him. He welcomed them aboard.
Percy sat in a seat and relaxed in it. Frank looked troubled as he sat down. Hazel looked indifferent. Nothing really bothering her, he guessed.
The plane started to climb into the air. Percy started to twist his ring around his finger.
"So. Percy. You're wearing a ring. Got a wife?" Hazel asked.
Percy looked up. "Yeah, I do."
"Well, are you going to tell us about her?"
Percy's face lit up. "Her name is Zoë and she's the best. She's headstrong with a strong sense of justice. She was the best torturer Hell had. She's smart and knows how to fight. She can kick your ass in fifty million different ways, but she knows when to put the knife down. She's amazing and I love her."
"The same Zoë that Mars mentioned?"
"The one and the same." Percy confirmed.
"You have a daughter too right? Mars mentioned that you had one." Frank asked.
Percy sighed. "Yeah, Rory. She's great. Currently kidnapped, which isn't ideal, but I'm working on it. Once Leo gets to Camp Jupiter and we can face Gaia, I'll kill her and we can all go home. Maybe I'll settle down in L.A., solve crimes."
"You're joking right?" Frank asked.
"Not about going to L.A., no. Solving crimes, yeah, that's stupid."
"So, who's Leo?" Hazel asked.
"A son of Hephaestus. He's currently building a warship to take the seven on their quest."
"The Seven. You mentioned that before. What is it?"
"Yeah, Mars was talking about them too? And there's a prophecy?"
Percy sighed. "There's always a Daddamned prophecy." He muttered. "Yeah, yeah. I guess I can't expect you to just know. You guys know of the Sibylline Books, right?"
They both nodded.
"Well, when they were burned, only a few scraps survived. One of which had a prophecy.
Seven will answer the call
To fire the world will burn
An oath to keep with final breath
Adversary rips free the Doors of Death"
"So that's the Seven." Hazel stated.
Percy nodded. "Yes. You're part of the Seven, as am I. As is my wife. We will face down Gaia, and hopefully keep her from waking."
"So, Mother Earth is evil?"
"She has an ax to grind against humanity. For a long time, you've polluted her ocean. Her air. Can you imagine, if all the little organisms on your body started to shit all over your skin? Ripped out your hair? Turned all your blood to piss? You wouldn't be very happy would you? Now I ask you, would the organisms be in the wrong? Would you be evil for taking retaliation? No, she isn't evil, just angry, and in anger, you make rash choices."
"Like kidnapping your daughter."
"Damn right. She's signed her death warrant now. I would've left her alone, but she dragged me into this. I imagine she is mad that I killed her son. An eye for an eye as people say."
"So, you would've left us to fight Gaia by ourselves?" Frank asked.
"I imagine that the Fates planned this from the beginning. Had Rory not been kidnapped, something else would've stirred me to action. I shudder to think what it could have been."
There was a silence as they processed his words.
"I'd recommend getting some sleep. I want to rescue Death today. That means that we're gonna be traveling a long distance once we land. Best be well rested."
A/N. Honestly, there was going to be more, but I just can't find the motivation to write the rest of it. So I'll put it in the next chapter. The next one should be pretty long. I'm hoping to end the Son Of Neptune part of the story in the next chapter.
Sorry it's kind of short.
Thoughts?
