SHUT UP, LILY!
A/N- Hello! I've always luurved those cliché fanfics where the next generation travels back into time and all that jazz, but I don't like it much when the next-gen just simply blurt out their parents' names (which later gives rise to some galleon-exchanging, loads of eye twinkling, blushing, a few "You knocked up our sister"s, and sometimes the inevitable fainting.) then proceed to wreak havoc until their (very angry) parents come to pick them up, obliviate the people from the past, and take them back home, sans any repercussions or changes. Sooo, I decided to write my own time-travel story without (hopefully) making it too cliché.
Just some important things to keep in mind while reading this- I'm not considering The CC canon in this story, but I do borrow some things from it (like the Potters being off-sugar). I don't have a beta-reader, so please bear with me in case I make any mistakes, and I'll forever be grateful to you if you point them out in the reviews *hint* review *hint* Ahem, so now..
DISCLAIMER- D'you really think Harry Potter belongs to a procrastinating student? Everything you recognize belongs to JK Rowling. Everything. *sobs*
The Lily-dragon smuggling incident has shamelessly been stolen from EllizaBlue's awesome post-CC universe. Go check it out! She completely redeemed Cursed Child!
On with the story...
Chaos
Rose Granger-Weasley was fuming. There were many things contributing to this oh-not-so-rare loss of temper. She was supposed to be finishing the most interesting book on the history of the Chudley Cannons she had received on her birthday. But no, she was instead cooped up in Grimmauld Place, of all places. (The Potter Home was currently under repairs because of an incident involving a smuggled dragon, fire, and a very guilty Lily).
Couldn't her parents at least look at their darling first born? Couldn't they see that she was wasting away while they were chatting with Uncle Harry and Auntie Ginny and alternating between making ridiculous lovey-dovey eyes at each other? And her aunt and uncle, Merlin help her, knew they were traumatizing their children and niece with their should-be-banned displays of public affection! Couldn't they just- as her dad was supposed to shout (which he was not doing, acting like a very unconcerned older sibling indeed)- get a bloody room?!
She looked around the room. James and Albus (who were currently on a sugar-high: they seemed to have found Uncle Harry's secret stash of sweets- ooh, did Auntie Ginny know? Busting the three of them would be fun!) were playing a very violent game of Exploding Snap. They had asked her if she wanted to join them, but Rose certainly didn't want to part with her eyebrows, thank you very much. Lily, who would have been at Shell Cottage with Hugo had she not been grounded because of the Dragon Incident, was nowhere to be seen.
Rose had never liked Grimmauld Place. It was too big, and the architecture was highly impractical. She had been told that it had been much worse before, but Rose couldn't possibly imagine something worse than a misunderstanding of the muggle Pythagoras theorem, which was glaringly obvious in the placement of the emerald-green tapestry. But then, Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny had never taken Arithmancy which should excuse their lack of arithmetical skills.
Rose yawned. Perhaps Lily could provide some entertainment. She got up and trudged up the long winding stairs. Maybe Lily was looking around the (out-of-bounds) attic or maybe just sitting up in her bedroom like a nice, obedient girl (which was, of course, highly unlikely).
Rose heard Lily moving around in one of the rooms and immediately entered; you could trust Lily to break things of value 'just for fun'.
"What are you doing, Lils?"
Lily gave a start and quickly shoved something behind her back, with a carefully practiced angelic 'I-don't-know-what-you're-talking-about' expression.
"Nothing," she said, her voice believably casual.
"I know you've got something over there that you shouldn't have, so give it to me quickly, you know it can be a dangerous artefact!"
"It isn't," Lily said defensively, reluctantly taking out a necklace with a gold chain. "Looks like it's something Dad bought to gift Mum or something, I was just looking-"
"Wait," said Rose, eyeing the necklace apprehensively. "It's not a normal necklace, it- it's a time turner! How did you get hold of it?"
'A what?' said Lily excitedly, looking at the time-turner in a whole new light. 'Cool!'
"Cool? Cool?!" said Rose in an increasingly hysterical voice. "You could ruin everything with it! Time-turners are not something you should meddle with!"
"Oh, come on, think of the things we can do! We can travel back to Teddy's seventh year and see that Gobstones incident he and Vic always talk about! Or we could go and see Mum and Dad's first kiss! How great would that be?!"
"Really, Lily, if you want to just see them snogging, you can see them at it any moment you like," said Rose dryly.
"But the first kiss is special," said Lily airily, waving her hand dismissively. "I'm going to travel back to last month, I just thought of the perfect retort for what Mark told me while we were arguing about the Weird Sisters-"
Rose made to snatch the time-turner away from Lily, who held on to it protectively, her brown eyes gleaming madly, making her look oddly similar to her godmother, Luna.
Suddenly, the chain snapped in half and the tiny hourglass fell on the floor with a small crack, and billowing white smoke began to emanate from the rapidly spinning hourglass.
Rose's last coherent thought before all turned black was- I'll kill you, Lily Luna Potter!
A/N II- Liked it? Hated it? Please mention in the reviews! I'll love you forever and ever and ever if you do!
P.S. Sorry for the length of the chapter- the next ones will be much longer.
