Title: Delicate

Word Count: 516

Spoilers: Plan B mostly. And A Trip to the Dentist.

A/N: This may not be the best story ever, but I'm sure that after Plan B we all want to know why Cassidy acted the way he did. And this is my reason.

It wasn't that he didn't want to sleep with her. Most of the time sleeping with her was all he could think about. The reason that he hadn't tried to sleep with her was because he knew what would happen when they did. It was because of what people would say about her, what people would think about her when word got out and he knew that it would. He'd seen it happen before.

It was after Shelly's party, after his brother had taken him to an empty bedroom where there was a girl that Dick had called "ready and willing", but he couldn't get any farther away from the truth. She was drugged and obviously not ready or willing.

It had been over two years, and despite the fact that she had forgiven him, he still felt horrible about it.

And that was why he was standing in front of her house staring at his cell-phone, her number on the screen, trying to gather the courage to push send. Because she deserved to know the truth.

Slowly, and with a shaking hand, Cassidy Cassablancas pushed that last little button and waited nervously for an answer.

Inside of her house Cindy "Mac" Mackenzie was in the middle of a good nights sleep when suddenly she was awoken by her phone ringing repeatedly.

"Whoever this is it better be damn well important." Mac mumbled as picked up the ringing phone up from its cradle.
"It's Cassidy."
"Cass it's," Mac picked up her alarm clock and groaned, "It's three in the morning."
"I'm outside. Can you please come out?"
"I'll be right there."

Mac crawled out of bed as she hung up the phone, put a robe on over her purple tank top and matching pajama bottoms, pulled her slippers out from under her bed and slid them onto her feet before finally making her way to the front door.

"What do you want?" she asked as she opened the door and folded her arms across her chest.
Cassidy took a deep breath and ran his messy hair. "I'm sorry that I got so upset with you. It's just…"
He took another breath and tried to find the right words to say to her, "I haven't had sex. I've wanted to, believe me I've wanted to, but I don't want to rush into anything. You know? "
"It's okay Cassidy…" Mac began but he kept on talking
"But those things didn't keep me from wanting to look good in front of my brother and his friends. They didn't keep me from letting everyone believe that I have had sex. I'm responsible for ruining a girl's reputation. A girl who was nothing but nice to me. And that's the reason that I don't want things to go too far between us. The reason why I want things to go slow. Because I like you. A lot. I would rather die then hurt you."
"It's alright. Come on." Mac opened the door wider, "Let's talk about this."
"Have I mentioned that I'm sorry?" Cassidy asked as he waked into her house
"Yeah. Yeah you have."
