Summary: Quickie One Shot… GSR… Sara used to hate the rain.

Sara hated the rain.

It reminded her of those many nights of her childhood. The rainy nights when the screams and the sounds of slaps and hits echoed through the house and up to her room were the ones she hated the most.

During the rainstorms, she had no where to go. At least when it was dry, she could sneak out of the house by climbing the tree that stood right next to her window.

When she was in the tree, she felt safe. It's strong branches supported her easily. The warm San Francisco air would fill her lungs and she would feel at peace. Even if it was only for a little while.

She was not able to climb her tree when it was a rainy night. The branches became much too slippery, and the tree swayed dangerously in the high winds. She feared falling. So she stayed inside her room, curled up tightly in a ball on her bed, praying that the harsh words and fighting would stop.

Sara hated the rain.

Until.

That rainy night.

When Gil Grissom finally kissed her.

After they found Nicky, Grissom asked her out. He told her how precious time is, and how he thought life was just passing him by. He whispered in her ear that he could not stand to be without her for another day.

She looked into his eyes and accepted his invitation.

It was raining when he picked her up for their date.

It was raining when they left the Italian restaurant.

It was raining when he walked her to her front door.

It was raining when he tilted his head and placed his lips on hers.

It was raining when she took his hand and guided him into her bedroom.

And now here she was, curled up in bed with Gil Grissom. Their naked limbs entangled together as he pressed warm kisses into her neck as she snuggled up next to him. Both were listening as the raindrops from an unusual Las Vegas thunderstorm padded on the window.

It was still raining as Grissom whispered "I love you".

Sara loved the rain.
