PIRI REIS
Piri Reis was a famous Turkish admiral in the sixteenth century who had a loving interest in his collection of old maps. Also, he was a good drawer of maps and he even collected many maps when he traveled around the world with his uncle Kemal Reis. In addition to that, some even say that he took some map drawing classes for his interest in Gallipoli on the Dardanelles where he was born. In theories most of us believe that one cannot change the view of the world that others, but eventually Piri Reis changed the facts that human beings used believed. He changed the people's opinions about the world, because people believed that the world was a straight as a tray or they believed that the world would place on horn of the bull. While Piri Reis was exploring islands he drew the map again for his collection and people found out that from his drawing the world was actually geoid.
All it began with Kemal Reis to teaching Piri Reis the sea life, which they spent most of the time traveling island to island. Piri Reis started to collect maps during his early life stages, and he captured this habit while his visits to islands with his uncle. He fought many marine confrontation alongside his uncle, and later also served under Barborassa who was also a great Admiral to Turkish history. After his uncle's death Piri Reis led the Ottoman felt fighting Portuguese in the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. On the other hand, in between those wars he retired to Gallipoli to devise his first world map. Eventually, he created three world maps which were all in very detailed and demonstrated very well.
Piri Reis was pretty much in love with sea and he was a great admiral, even in many of revolution times of Ottoman Empire he helped his country with his strategies and knowledge of seas. During a now forgotten sea battle, the admiral captured several enemy sailors. One of the captives boasted of sailing with Columbus on his three trips to the new world. Piri Reis and Columbus made great adventures for the world and they found the place that we live on. He began to serve as a privateer in the Ottoman Navy as a youth and after many years of fighting against Spanish, Genoese and Venetian armadas, and he came on the rank of Reis which mean Admiral.
Piri Reis was executed by the Ottoman Sultan for losing a critical naval battle. The Sultan ordered him to be cut from his head, thus he would be punished and which would be a lesson for all other Admirals. Piri Reis's great collection of maps was found by the Kemal Ataturk after he changed the life of Turkish society. Ataturk believed that those three world maps were very important to Turkish history, and he placed those maps in Topkapi castle. On the other hand, some people say that in Turkey those maps were destroyed from castle, but some say they are still in there.
In conclusion, I would like to state that he discovered the reality of world's being actually geoid three hundred years ago before the scientists discovered the facts In addition to that, many people believed that the world was a straight as a tray ,or even they thought the world would place on horn of the bull. I think he proved the world that one person may make many changes and they may become very important person's in others lives. Even though they may not realize that yet their jobs would create a life to others. Like in real life there are many people who are trying to be something else than they are, those who lives in between in idealized image and actual image soon or later may understand their capability of doing things or creating something would be different than others, but it might even be more important than others. Like Piri Reis who would have though that time with drawing maps or crating collection would benefit the entire world, but it surely did.
