Author's Note: I'm back with a new one! Funny story, I thought of this one while babysitting and I started to write down the idea on my phone and ended up writing the first 2-3 chapters on my phone instead (around 7,000 words...). The kid I was watching was doing online school so chill, I didn't neglect her and made sure she stayed on task. Anyways, went home and wrote like another 10,000 words and the story was born.

As always, it is complete and I just have to edit it. I'll be posting a chapter a day if possible. Comments/Reviews/Suggestions/Constructive Criticism are welcomed!

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT own Stargate SG-1, it's characters, or anything associated with it. I'm just letting my imagination run wild with their creation.

P.S TitusVorenus - if you're reading this, I'm working on yours now! It currently has my full attention, but is a little trickier since I can't write D/V like they have an existing relationship, which they don't...

Chapter One

It wasn't just one thing that made her do it. No, it was a series of things that contributed to her current predicament.

It all began the moment she, Vala Mal Doran, landed in the Ori galaxy, pregnant no less, and when she had discovered she was and that there was no possible way for her to be, it started a series of events. She had to marry and quick. She felt horrible for deceiving Tomin, he was a good man and deserved better but what was she to do? She certainly didn't want to be burned alive again. Pregnant or not, her 'impurity' or whatever was sure to be a burning offense – last time it had been because she didn't know a simple blessing. Granted, she hadn't handled that situation well but she couldn't risk it. So she lied, bent the truth, withheld key information, whatever you wanted to call it, to save herself. Was she exactly proud? No, but if it meant surviving, she would.

She lucked out with Tomin – she really did. He was genuinely a nice guy and she had only met one other than who rivaled him in that area. But he slowly began to change ever since the Prior healed his limp. He left her on that altar for three days, heavily pregnant, with no food or water. When she had that dream, she knew for certain that the baby was somehow the Ori's doing – another factor of her current situation.

At least Tomin had eventually come for her, finally seeing that what Seevis was doing was wrong and that their child was being endangered. She hated that he thought the baby was his, well he had until that damn Prior told him otherwise. That was another thing that played a role in where she was now. Ever since that Prior came to their home and told Tomin the truth about the child, she always felt like she was being watched by them. She may have been imaging it, but she swore they were.

It was probably because the child was the 'Will of the Ori' according to that creepy Prior.

What really set her off was and made her spiral into her current predicament, was while aboard the ship about to embark for the Milky Way, that same Prior had been everywhere she went and she was not imaging it this time. Every time he saw her, he would always look at belly, as if the child would magically leap out and into his arms. That's when Vala knew for sure – they wanted her baby. She should've known since it was the will of the Ori, but hadn't thought this all the way through. She was almost never alone now. It was like they were laying it wait and it scared the shit out of her.

Vala always did hate feeling trapped.

So when the opportunity arose, she slipped off, just needing a moment to herself, and found herself at a window, watching the horrendous battle that played out. It was a massacre. The Jaffa and Tau'ri were cut down effortlessly and with little to no resistance. She had watched in horror as one of the Tau'ri vessels was completely destroyed and she found herself enraged. While none of them would consider her a friend, she considered those three boys her friends, and the thought of any of them being dead pissed her off as well as made her tremendously sad. She swore, if Daniel Jackson had been aboard that ship and was now dead, the Ori would forever regret it.

And that's when it started spiraling out of control for her.

Moments after the Tau'ri vessel was destroyed, she felt her first contraction. Based on the little information she had about pregnancy and labor, it was generally a gradual process, but after that first contraction, they seemed to come faster and harder. She thought about her entire pregnancy and everything that happened, something snapped inside of her. They wanted her baby, they were going to take her baby, she just knew it, and she couldn't allow that to happen – it was her baby no matter how it was conceived and she wouldn't allow it. She had to hide.

Was it prudent to do so when you're about to give birth? No, not really, but what other choice did she have? She couldn't allow her baby to be taken and there wasn't anyone on the ship she could trust, not even Tomin. As much as she cared about him and knew he loved her, Origin would always come before anything and if this baby was indeed of the Ori, he would hand it over without a thought. She couldn't allow that to happen. So, she fled.

There weren't many places she could hide undetected on this ship but Seevis had managed to steal plans of the ship itself so she knew of the few places she could try. There was only one that would be suitable for her current situation. Vala could deal with pain, it had been a constant presence for most of her life, but she didn't know if she'd be able to keep herself completely quiet during the birth and that's not even mentioning the baby. It was bound to cry, so she needed somewhere where the noises would be drowned out.

Vala was surprised and also proud, if she did say so herself, that she had been able to make it to her hideout without anyone noticing her. It hadn't been easy, sneaking around and holding in the scream of pain that came with each contraction, but she did, and the second the door closed behind her, she finally let it out.

"Ahh!" she moaned, breathing hard after it passed and rubbed the bump, "Darling, do mommy a favor and go easy."

Using the wall to support herself, she slowly walked away from the door, finding a spot that concealed her. She collapsed ungracefully at the other end of the room and whimpered as another contraction hit.

"So, we're not gonna go easy on mommy, huh?" she quipped and tried to breathe through the pain instead of screaming. "You're going to be a difficult one, I can already tell. You know, it's in our best interests to be as quiet as possible, meaning don't make your mother scream."

It went like this for a while and the contractions got closer and closer together and Vala knew it wouldn't be long before it was time to push. As more contractions came, the pain got worse and she prayed to whatever higher cosmic power out there that no one heard her. Breathing could only do so much and it was no longer able to help keep her quiet.

As luck would have it, on the worst contraction she had yet, Vala heard the door open. She held her breath, hoping to hold in the groan of pain, but a whimper/moan escaped and she cringed, not just in agony but in dread as she heard footsteps headed her way. They were cautious and almost inaudible and if it had been anyone aside from her, they probably wouldn't have heard them, but she was her and given her occupation, she had to have the sharpest skill set when it came to her senses.

The footsteps were slow and after a few minutes, stopped before they seemed to turn back.

Vala swore her child was determined to get them killed or at least captured, for another contraction hit, the closest they'd been yet, and it hit so unexpectedly that it took her by surprise, and she let out another cry of pain. "Ahh!" she held her breath after she did, balling her fists and squeezing with all her might.

Vala heard the footsteps come faster and closer and she berated herself. She should've stolen Tomin's weapon before she snuck off. Yes, it would've been a bit obvious if she carried it around but at least she could've defended herself if she did. Now, she had nothing and couldn't do a damn thing to save herself and the baby. They found her and she was doomed.

"Oh my God, Vala!" a familiar voice exclaimed and suddenly knelt in front of her.

Vala squinted at the person. "Daniel?" she said, shocked, "You're alive. I saw one of your shi –Ahh!" her words cut off by the pain of the current contraction.

Daniel grabbed her hand, allowing her to squeeze it, which she did – hard. "Try to breathe," he encouraged softly.

"How helpful," she snapped, trying to do as he instructed, "why didn't I think of that?"

"I'm just trying to help," he defended, looking at her nine-month belly and his other hand gently caressed it, "You really are pregnant."

Vala collapses into the wall behind her, breathing hard. "What, thought I was lying?"

"No," he instantly denied, "I just…it's, it's just…surreal I guess."

"You're telling me," she closed her eyes, wanting to get a few moments of rest, which wouldn't happen since she knew another one was gonna happen any second, "though it feels very real at the moment."

Daniel sighed and settled in front of her. "Where's your husband?" he bit out, shrugging out of his jacket and vest, "and why aren't you with him in an infirmary or something, surrounded by help?"

"And give the Priors the opportunity to take my baby?" she growled, "Not bloody likely."

"Why would they want to steal it?" he asked, confused.

"Because I've heard this particular Prior call it the 'Will of the Ori' and I'll be damned if I let them have it and corrupt it," she told him, "It's my baby and they can't have it. I just know if they do, something horrible will happen."

"Well, I think they know you're gone," he said, brushing away her wet, matted hair from her face, "everyone seems hell bent on finding something. They're almost panicking."

"That just proves my point," she said and moaned as the next contraction hit.

Daniel scooted closer to her. "Breathe," he reminded her and lifted her dress, flinging it over her knees to see how far dilated she was.

"What're doing?" she grounded out as best she could.

"Helping you with this baby," he replied, "What else would I be doing?" he noticed she had a shift underneath the brown dress and started to strip her of her dress and undergarments.

She laughed. "As much as I'd like to, Daniel, I don't think now's a good time to have sex," she managed to tease, despite the pain.

"Hilarious," he said deadpanned, "You'll be more comfortable this way."

The pain eased up a little. "How would you know that?" she asked, "And last I knew, you weren't a medical doctor so how could you possibly help me deliver this baby?"

"I've delivered three babies before," he told her, focusing on unlacing one of his shoelaces and setting his Swiss army knife that Jack always insisted he keep on him to the side, "Two all by myself."

"You've done this before?" she asked incredulously, "Aren't I lucky?"

"You don't have much of a choice right now," he pointed out, tossing his shoelace next to the knife, "but I can always go if you want me to."

Vala grabbed his hand in a death grip. "Please don't leave me," she begged, her fear and anxiety evident in her tone.

Daniel forced his face to soften. Vala may annoy and frustrate the crap out of him, but he would never leave her alone, especially like this. He placed a hand on her cheek and met her eyes. "I won't, I promise," he assured her, "I'm here and I'm gonna help you through this, okay?"

"Thank you," she whispered, "Daniel, it's coming fast, it shouldn't be happening this fast."

"How fast?" he asked warily.

"I went into labor just as your ship was destroyed."

"Damn," he cursed and checked her, "Yeah, you're pretty far dilated and it's almost time to push."

"That's not normal, right?" she asked, worried.

"It's different for everyone," he tried to calm any fears, "and I'm sure the baby is fine."

Vala groaned. "Gods, here comes another one," she leaned forward, trying to ease the back pain, "Make the pain stop, Daniel," she whined.

He glanced at her face and was reminded of the last time he delivered a baby and how his wife had said similar words. Daniel leaned forward and rubbed her back. "I wish I could," he told her sympathetically. He waited until it was over before asking, "Hey, you never answered me. Why isn't your husband here? I get not wanting to be out in the open, but shouldn't he be here?"

Vala leaned against the wall again. "Tomin is a good man, but he's a devout man," she said, "and he would turn the baby over without hesitation and I cannot allow that to happen."

"What do you think they're going to do with it?"

"I don't know!" she confessed, "I just have this horrible feeling inside that something bad will happen if they do."

Daniel may not always like the way she used her instincts, but he could admit that she had good ones – she was intuitive as hell. He had watched the footage of her in his body, he had heard of all she went through for the most part, and he remembered the dream she described having and how insistent she was that the Ori were responsible for the baby's existence. In other words, he trusted those instincts, the same instincts that destroyed the first Supergate, buying them all more time.

"Then they won't," he promised her, "We'll keep it safe and once we're out of hyperspace, we'll find a way to the rings and get the hell out of here."

"We're in hyperspace?" she failed to notice that on her way to this particular spot. "How did you even get on this ship?"

"The rings," he said simply, "There was a fluctuation in the ship's shields when they fired their main weapons so I was gonna ring a nuke aboard, but the ship took a fatal hit and I quickly got out before it exploded around me."

"Cameron and Muscles?" she asked carefully, "Your friend Samantha?"

Daniel looked grim. "I don't know, we were all scattered around," he admitted quietly, "but I have to believe they found a way to survive. We're SG-1, it's what we do."

"I'm sorry," she whispered, "I did my best to stop it, but it wasn't enough."

"Vala, this is not your fault," he said firmly, "so don't worry about that, instead, focus on bringing this baby into the world."

"I don't want to," she whimpered, "not when it's like this."

"We're gonna make it better," he promised, "we will defeat them. Let's start by making sure they never get their hands on this little one, okay?"

She nodded but didn't say anything as another wave of pain came over her and she squeezed his hand as she cried out in pain.

"You're doing good," Daniel told her, wincing at the painful grip she had on his hand. He checked her again. Though he was no doctor, but based on past experience, he was pretty sure she was fully dilated. "Okay, Vala, with the next one, you're gonna have to push."

"It's too soon," she protested, "It hasn't been that long since I went into labor."

"Yeah, well, this kid is just as stubborn as its mother," he teased with a small smile, "It's gonna come no matter what and there's nothing we can do to stop it."

"I don't know if I'm ready," she confessed.

"No parent is," he told her, "not really."

"I don't think I can be quiet anymore," she warned him, "it hurts too much."

"That's okay," it would have to be. He took in their surroundings. He had only chosen this place to hide since it seemed to be one of the only places not crawling with Ori soldiers. The room provided a natural sound, a loud hum, and hopefully it would drown out her cries. "Where are we?"

"Shield generator room," she replied, "Engine room is too close to certain populated areas and the shields are in a different part of the ship, away from everything. The noise helps too."

Daniel looked around again. "Doesn't look like any shield generators I've ever seen."

"The Ori are unique, darling," she bit out just before another contraction hit.

"Vala, you need to push," he told her calmly.

Vala couldn't stop herself even if she tried. Her body seemed to have taken over and started to push the baby out, all she could do was add more effort to it. And it continued like this for what seemed like forever, with Daniel being all encouraging and her trying to get this bloody baby out of her.

"Vala, I see its head," Daniel told her, a smile in voice, "Just keep pushing."

"I am pushing!" she growled at him but continued.

"That's it, almost here," he encouraged and grabbed his discarded jacket for the baby to be wrapped in. Daniel really wished he had something cleaner for the baby. He wished he had something he could use to clean Vala up afterwards in hopes of preventing infection and that wasn't even taking into account she may need stitches or some medical intervention after the birth, but it was what it was. "Just a few more and it'll be here."

"I can't, Daniel," she moaned, "it hurts and I'm so tired."

Daniel pinned her with a stern look. "Vala Mal Doran, you are probably the strongest, most resilient woman I've ever met," he told her, "you can do this and you will do this – now push!"

Vala did as commanded and within a few minutes, her child was out.

Daniel quickly wiped off the baby's mouth and nose, checking for any obstructions, before setting it on his jacket so he could take care of the cord. The baby let out a small cry.

"Daniel?" she asked impatiently, "Daniel I need to hold my baby," she said anxiously.

"Just a second," he told her and tied off both sides of the umbilical cord with his shoelaces before cutting it in the middle. He used his jacket as best he could to clean the baby up, but that would have to wait for now. Daniel gently wrapped the jacket around the baby before lifting the infant, "Vala Mal Doran, meet your daughter," he said softly and transferred the infant into her arms.
