Shinigami Saiyan

Things on Planet Vegeta were how they always were. The strong, lorded their power over the weak, and those who fought back, were usually beat up to either death, or near that, with hardly a care in the world from the others. But there were some among the strong, who were opposed to what King Cold, and Lord Frieza had them doing, hell even against the Saiyan's way of life in general. These Saiyans were outcasts to the planet's badlands, and sometimes used for bait to lure in wild animals for feasts.

One such Saiyan child had managed to make his way into the military, and had fought alongside the legend who gave hope for those born with weaker power levels. Bardock was his idol, and this Saiyan, he was an outcast, not even worth mentioning. His parents had abandoned him, and didn't even bother with giving him a name, only calling him by the name of the power level he was born with. Five.

But despite his weak power level, Five never gave up hope, he never stopped fighting, and proved to himself, and those who would listen, mainly Bardock, that power levels didn't matter. Eventually as the two went on more and more missions, they began to bond. Five was close to the age of Bardock's oldest son, Raditz, and when out on missions, looked out for him, even told Five so far as to do his own thing because the older Saiyan knew how much the younger hated senseless violence. Even Bardock's wife, and the Saiyan himself, had offered the child Saiyan a place in their home, becoming an adopted part of their family.

But everything changed when the rest of Bardock's team had been killed by some warriors from the Frieza Force. Five had somehow managed to survive the killings, thanks to his teammate, Fasha, and when he climbed out from under the pile of his dead race-kin, Five instantly found himself in the arms of Bardock, wearing a new bandanna around his forehead that smelt of blood, and the older Saiyan expressing greatly how happy he was at least one of his teammates survived.

Five wasn't used to seeing Bardock so open with his emotions, and never wanted to see him like that again. On their way back to what was their ship, they found themselves rescued by a fellow teammate of theirs, who had been off mission, but came as soon as he could, when their ships, signal went off line on the Saiyan Mainframe back on Planet Vegeta, and saying that Lord Frieza had requested all Saiyans return to planet Vegeta immediately.

Eventually, Bardock, Five, and their pilot made their way back to Vegeta, with the two surviving Saiyans sleeping, only to be awakened by their pilot.

"Bardock, Five. Hey, wake up you two."

"What's going on?" Five questioned, sitting up as he rubbed his eyes.

"We're home. You two should be happy."

Bardock and Five looked to their home planet, but weren't happy, when right away they noticed a familiar tyrants ship, flying some distance from their atmosphere.

"Looks like the party's started without us." Bardock said.

"Hey you're right. That is Frieza's ship." The pilot said. "Damn that bastard, if he weren't so high and might, I'd…"

"Watch your mouth, your Scouter's on." Bardock reminded him.

"Oh right, damn I forgot."

"So what do you think he called us back for?" Five questioned, leaning forward with his hands on the seat. "If it were some new tech, he wouldn't need to come personally to hand them out. Not that a Saiyan with my power level would get a piece."

"Don't say that." Bardock said. "In any case, it's probably not new tech, or a new super weapon."

"Then what do you think he's here for?" The pilot questioned.

"Frieza's no fool. He knows the Saiyans won't stay loyal, or under his rule for long. Ever since his father enslaved the Saiyan Race, King Vegeta has been plotting a coup de ta against Cold, and Frieza when that little shorty took over." Five said.

"You're one to talk about size." Bardock laughed, as they landed. "But he's right. We're expendable to Frieza, so there might only be one reason why he'd be having us all return to Planet Vegeta like this."

"Wait, you can't be serious. He plans to get rid of us?" The pilot questioned as Five and Bardock grabbed their bags.

"It's a possibility." Five said, following Bardock out.

Walking through the airfield, Bardock and Five were stopped when one of the workers there grabbed their attention.

"Hey good to see ya. Didn't think either of you'd make it back alive." The big Saiyan said.

"Shut up." Bardock countered. "Any reason why we were all called back?"

"Beats me." The Saiyan said. "Maybe they found a heavily fortified planet that requires all the Saiyans to conquer."

"Yeah, that's gotta be it. An' you both actually had me worried there." The pilot said.

"If that were the case, Frieza would be dead after his first attempt at conquering the planet." Five said.

"That's Lord Frieza to you, ya brat." The big Saiyan glared.

"I'm not wearing a Scouter, so I don't gotta watch my language." Five stated.

"You should still show respect to him, you weak as welp."

"Bite me."

"That's enough." Bardock said. "Five we have to return to Gine, let her know we're back, and alive."

"Right." Five sighed as they walked off.

"Serves you right, little pest." The big Saiyan said, spitting at him, the loogy landing on his cheek.

Bardock turned around as Five stopped, and gave off a sigh of defeat.

"You just had to egg him on, didn't you Brocko?" Bardock questioned.

Five dropped his bag, and ran to the side, disappearing from Brocko's view, before he reappeared right in his face, with a faint, near invisible green aura around his eyes, as he socked Brocko in the jaw, knocking him to the ground.

Landing on Brocko's chest, Five grabbed him by the armor, and pulled him up, glaring right into his eyes, before Bardock stepped in, holding both their bags, and pulled Five off the older, and bigger Saiyan.

"Honestly, if you can't even handle a Saiyan Child with a power level lower than your own, then how did you even get into the military?" Bardock questioned, carrying the boy under his arm like luggage, as he walked away.

"Shut up." Brocko said as those who stopped to watch, began laughing at him. "Oh and Bardock, Frieza's people have been looking around, asking about the Super Saiyan quite a bit."

"The Super Saiyan? Like the one from the legends?" Bardock questioned. "That's it…"

~Later~

Bardock sighed as the other Saiyans were staring at him, as he continued to carry Five like luggage with their bags.

"Seriously Five, you need to learn to control that temper of yours." Bardock exclaimed.

"It's not my fault that fat pig has a big ego!" Five said. "I was just showing my Saiyan Pride."

"Yes and that showing of your pride garnered you a whole lot of unwanted attention." Bardock stated. "C'mon, we're just around the corner from home."

Turning into one of the buildings, Bardock smiled when he saw Gine, standing right across the entrance of the stone hut.

"What, no welcome back for your husband and his prodigy?" Bardock questioned.

"Bardock, Five." Gine smiled, twisting around, and going to hug them. "It's so good to see you're back. But what happened that required you to carry Five like this?"

"Five ended up showing his, Saiyan Pride, to one of the ground workers at the air field." Bardock said.

"Brocko started it." Five grumbled.

"Where's Raditz?" Bardock questioned, setting Five down.

"He's in the military now. He was put in the same squad as Prince Vegeta." Gine explained. "I doubt he'll be able to make it back in time for the announcement Lord Frieza has."

"Price Vegeta huh?" Bardock pondered.

"I wouldn't wanna be on a team with that one." Five said.

"You said it, not me." Bardock chuckled. "How's Kakarot doing, is he still in the nursing capsule?"

"He is. It's just about time to let him out though, you should see him, come on." Gine said, walking through the hut, stopping at the counter to give Five, a slice of meat.

In the back of the hut, Gine, Bardock, and Five, looked at the capsule with a miniature Bardock floating inside.

"He's gotten so big since he was inside your belly." Five said.

"But it looks like he hasn't grown much since the last time we saw him." Bardock said.

"I think he might be a late bloomer. He looks just like you though Bardock, for better or worse." Gine smiled. "He certainly has his father's hair."

There was a moment of silence, before Bardock looked to Five and spoke up.

"Five, why don't you go wash up for dinner?" Bardock recommended.

"I've got something I need to do first, out back." Five said, heading for the entrance.

"What's the matter Bardock? You never send Raditz or Five out, unless it's important." Gine said.

"I'm gonna steal a pod for Kakarot and Five, and send them off world, tonight." Bardock said. "That way Kakarot will have a big brother look after him as they grow up together."

"You can't be serious. Why Bardock?" Gine questioned.

Around back, Five finished removing his chest plate, as the fire pit was lit, heating up the blade that was inside it, with the handle free for him to grab when he, and the blade were ready. With his chest plate removed, it was clear to see what he was up to. On the right side of his chest, under the collarbone, there was a patch of scars that looked like tally marks. One half of the cluster were already a set of five, with four tally's beside it.

"I broke my cardinal rule again. This makes ten." Five said, taking the heated blade, and cutting over the cluster of four scars diagonally. Due to the heat, he didn't bleed when the blade opened his skin, but it did send a repugnant stench into the air, that filled his nostrils.

Dropping the blade, Five grabbed a cloth and held it over the wound, breathing heavily as he'd forced himself to endure the pain, blood trailing down his chin from biting his lip to hold back a cry of pain.

"As painful as ever."

"So this is what the little useless idiot does when he breaks his number one rule."

Five looked up and his eyes widened in horror, when he saw Brocko, with one of his friends flying next to him, before dropping to the ground.

"Gotta say, never expected you to be so hard on yourself. What's say we help you discipline yourself a bit, and remind you of what you are." Brocko said, picking up the blade, and heating it up with his Ki.

"No, get away from me. Leave me alone Brocko." Five cried out, trying to get away, before he was pinned down, with a roll of leather shoved in his mouth to keep him quiet.

"Don't worry, this won't hurt us in the slightest." Brocko smiled.

~That Night~

"Are you sure you couldn't find Five anywhere?" Bardock questioned, marching through the badlands with Gine following him, and a pod on his shoulder, with a crying infant inside.

"I couldn't find him anywhere. An' he didn't show up for dinner." Gine said. "But Bardock, are you sure about this? What if you're wrong?"

"Then I'll go out and bring Kakarot back." Bardock said.

"Why are you doing this Bardock? First it was Five, and now Kakarot. It's not like a Saiyan man to care this much about his children. So what's gotten into you?" Gine asked, with a gentle smile.

"I don't know." Bardock said. "I guess it's because I'm always destroying stuff, that I'd actually like to save a life for once, especially if that life is of my son. I was hoping to send him off with Five, but that doesn't seem likely now." He stated, putting the pod down.

"But Bardock…"

"It'll be fine Gine. I've set the coordinates for a distant planet called earth. It doesn't have any significant monetary value. Its technology isn't as advanced, and its inhabitants aren't that strong. Hopefully the planet won't even show up on the Frieza Force's radar." Bardock explained.

"If your father is wrong about this, then we'll come and get you immediately." Gine said, putting a hand to the glass.

"Listen son! You do whatever it takes, to survive, got it?" Bardock questioned.

"We'll see you really soon." Gine exclaimed, her voice cracking with emotion.

"Goodbye." Bardock said, putting his hand on the glass with Kakarot putting his hand up to his fathers.

Backing away, the pod began lifting off the ground, before it went flying into the air.

"Don't forget us, Kakarot." Gine called out, before she began to cry, with Bardock comforting her.

~Elsewhere~

"Well, have you learned your lesson yet punk?" Brocko questioned, looking to Five, who was leaning against a rock formation, bloodied and barely breathing.

The young Saiyan had been tied and bound to the rock, as Brocko took out his anger, and frustrations on the child who humiliated him at the airfield hours ago.

"You sure it was wise to beat on the kid like that Brocko?" One of his squad mates questioned as they were all around a bonfire with plenty of ale and food. "Bardock will kick your ass for this if he finds out you were the one responsible."

"That weakling ain't gonna figure out it was me." Brocko smirked. "Because this brat's gonna keep his trap shut if he knows what's good for him." He snickered leaning down to look closer at Five.

CHOMP

"AAAAHHHHH." Brocko cried out as Five bit down on his nose, and wouldn't let go.

"Oh, hang on there kid. You've got him right where you want him." Another of Brocko's squad mates laughed.

"Stupid brat, get the hell off of me." Brocko shouted, throwing a punch to knock Five off.

Right at the last second, before Brocko's fist could make impact with the child, Five loosened his jaw and let go of Brocko, tricking the brute into punching himself in the face, which knocked him out and to his back, while the rest of his squad mates were laughing their assess off about how he got beat by a weakling of a kid, again.

With the others distracted, Five went racing through the near empty streets, those who were out, were giving him questioning looks as to why he wasn't wearing his armor, oblivious to the injuries he sustained, due to how dark it was.

When he got back to Gine and Bardock's hut, he barely made it to the open entrance, before everything became a black blur, and he passed out, one of his arms stretched out for help.

~Following Morning~

"Any sign of him waking up Gine?" Bardock's voice rang through Five's ears.

"He was badly injured, I'm not sure if first aid will be enough." Gine's voice followed.

"It has to be. He's a lower class Saiyan, so he's not allowed to use the healing pods unless it's mission related." Bardock's voice came again.

"Ow, could you two please not argue?" Five questioned, forcing himself to sit up, despite the pain he was in. "My head's already killing me as it is."

"Five, you're awake." Gine said. "Are you alright?"

"What happened yesterday, last night even?" Bardock questioned. "We found out passed out in front of our home, while you'd been missing for hours you even missed dinner and Gine made your favorite."

"Brocko happened." Five groaned, feeling pain in his left pectoral. "He thought it'd be fun to beat me up, after what I did to humiliate him yesterday. Even carved something on my chest."

"It's a word that means useless in another language from a planet he spent some time on." Bardock sighed. 'In fact, it's the same planet Gine and I sent Kakarot to.'

"Ironic." Five thought. "To make things worse, I'm out of commission for when we get our next mission."

"It'll be fine, Five." Gine said.

"I'm gonna go find Brocko and have a word with him." Bardock said. "Though it is your word against his."

"Nope." Five chuckled, before clutching his side in pain. "I bit his nose, and tricked the idiot to punch himself in the face."

"A clever boy." Bardock chuckled.

"Go and take care of that, I'll take care of Five." Gine said.

"I'll see you both in a bit." Bardock said, heading out. "King Vegeta's gonna want to hear about my only squad mate being taken out of commission."

A short while later, Five was eating some food Gine brought in for him, and kept wondering about something.

"Hey Gine." He began. "Where's Kakarot?"

"Bardock and I sent him off world, to a planet called Earth." Gine explained.

"Do you think he's actually ready for his first mission?" Five questioned.

"We didn't send him to conquer the planet, we sent him to protect him from Frieza, in case he is preparing to destroy us." Gine stated. "We were wanting to send you with him, but guess we now know why we couldn't find you before we sent him off."

"I see." Five said. "Still though, as long as he's alive when Frieza strikes, that's all I care about."

"Five…"

"Besides, I'd miss you and Bardock too much if I had been sent with him."

"Five, are you crying?" Gine asked.

"No. I'm not crying, Saiyans don't cry." Five said, wiping his tears away, and turning away from Gine.

"Of course they don't." Gine chuckled, pulling him in for a hug, with a gentle smile, much to his annoyance.

But the moment was ruined when the sky began to light up, and the heat began to rise. The screams and cries of the people outside could be heard as Gine and Five went running outside, seeing there was a massive attack coming on a collision course with their planet, and it was clear who the culprit responsible for that attack, truly was. Looking intently at the attack, Five felt something in him, like an instinct to fight and protect his home. So without thinking, and ignoring the pain in his body, Five went flying straight for the attack, zipping his way through the Frieza Force members who tried to stop him.

When reaching the sky, he saw Bardock, with his armor in tatters and shredded to bits, trying to push back against the oncoming attack.

"BARDOCK." Five called out.

"What are you doing here?" Bardock questioned, sparing a glance at Five.

"I came to help." Five declared putting his hands to Bardock's back, and pushed forward. "I don't care how insignificant I am compared to the rest of you, with higher power levels. I'm not just gonna roll over and die. No matter what I am going to fight for my home, even if I die doing so."

"You're crazy. You'll die either way." Bardock said.

"Then I guess, I'm gonna die with my family." Five said.

Bardock looked at Five, gritting his teeth and shouting out in rage, as his hair spiked out and became blonde, momentarily, before everything went silent, and blank.

Opening his eyes, Five found himself standing in a blank void, with nothing but clear emptiness in every direction he looked. Looking down on himself, Five saw a chain sticking out from his chest, with several links going down it, before it ended with a half link. Looking back around, he found he was in an office, standing in front of what looked like a giant desk.

"What the hell is going on?" He questioned.

"You've died young man. Such a shame to, you had your whole life ahead of you."

Looking up, Five saw a giant of a man with black hair, a black beard, horns, and red skin, looking down on him, with a gentle smile.

"Who are you?" Five questioned.

"My name's Yemma, King Yemma. An' you're here to face judgement, on where you will go next." Yemma said. "Hmm… now let's see here… Oh, according to your files it says you don't condone what the others of your race have done. An' even protested it."

"Yeah. I had joined the military to see if I could put an end to the planet conquering, but I just got beat up a lot." Five said.

"Hmm, well normally a Saiyan goes to either heaven or hell, but… give me a second." Yemma said, pulling up the receiver of his phone, and dialing up a few numbers. "Hello sir… I'm fine thank you, I'm calling because I believe I found someone who qualifies for the second life protocol… I'm quite sure sir… Believe it or not he's a Saiyan… Well sir according to his file, he walked on the saintly side of life when he was living, and died with a noble heart… Of course sir I understand…" Yemma said, before hanging up with a sigh. "Well, can't say I didn't try. Sorry kid, but it looks like I'll just be sending you to King Kai's world for training, before he sends you off for training from his superior."

"So… no second life thing?" Five questioned.

"Nope, I'm afraid not. Even if my superiors weren't busy, there's no one who'd be willing to take you to that world for a second chance at living." Yemma sighed. "But hey, at least you're finally getting a chance to be stronger. I just wish there was someone who could take you."

"I can take him for you, if you want." A new voice said, as someone came walking in past Yemma's desk.

~Reality~

The moonlight shined brightly through the window as a pair of golden amber eyes opened up, and a young man in his early-mid teens sat up in bed, looking out the window. He felt like he hadn't gotten that much sleep, but it didn't matter. He didn't rely on the 8 hours of sleep like humans did. Tossing the blanket off him, and swinging his legs down to hop up on his feet, the young man stretched, before he picked up the dumbbell from the floor by his bed, and started doing reps with it as he went and flipped the lights on.

Looking in the mirror as the light's blinding effect faded, he examined his body, to see if anything about him had changed at all.

The young man stood at an even 6feet, with broad muscular shoulders, and a ripped body, with evenly balanced between muscle mass and toning. On his right pectoral were the ten tally mark branding scars he'd given himself whenever he'd broken his cardinal rule, and on the left pectoral, was a word, he learned was written in kanji, that said, Deku, which meant useless, in Japanese, something he learned quickly when he first came to this world. His tail was wrapped around his waist, and his hair was mid length, spiked back, and black with a red stripe along the right side, with some bangs hanging down the front.

The young Saiyan boy, once known as Five was no more. Now he was simply known as Deku. No middle name, no last name, just Deku. He'd chosen that as his name because he thought it described how useful he was, during Frieza's attack on the Saiyans. So he thought the name suited him perfectly.

Switching the 200lbs dumbbell to the other arm, Deku looked over his desk at his belongings, making sure he had everything set up for when he had to head off to school in the morning.

Putting the dumbbell down, Deku grabbed a jacket, put on a pair of shoes, and went out to the convenience store that was still open. Making sure he had his wallet and keys with him, Deku also put on the scouter he'd managed to bring along from his past life. Taking a quick look in the mirror, Deku scanned his power level and saw that it was higher than it had been a month ago, putting his level at 1,500.

"I'm certainly different now, from my weaker self back then." Deku chuckled, putting the scouter back in his desk drawer. 'I vowed I would take revenge against Frieza for what he did to the Saiyan Race. So I've been training my ass off every day since I got to this world, with the hopes that I might become strong enough to face him. But until I am, I'm gonna have to make due with my current accommodations. Gotta say though, I was really set up with a life of luxury when I was brought to this world.'

Deku stopped when he took a step outside, and saw someone, someone translucent, standing under a lamp post, with a memorial marker of a vase of flowers and a photo. A young boy, with a chain running down from his chest, like the one he had at the check in station to Other World, and it had been severed, detaching him from something in the world of the living. Deku sighed, knowing what had happened to the kid. The incident took place right outside his house, less than a week ago after all, and it was still fresh in his mind when he saw the police outside at the corner where the boy's body was covered in a tarp.

'Then there's this nifty little trick I had been given.' Deku mentally sighed rubbing his eyes. 'Thanks to that old crow's magic, or whatever, I'm able to see and communicate with the dead; in exchange for this ability, my eyes have permanently gone from black, to golden amber with permanent dark red shadow trim lining them, and covering my eye lids.'

"Hey kid, what's your favorite drink?" Deku questioned the ghost boy.

"Um… apple juice." The boy said.

"Alright, give me a sec, I'll be right back." Deku said.

Making sure no one could see him, Deku took to the air, and flew to the store, quickly stopping right before the cameras could spot him, and ran the rest of the way. After quickly getting what he wanted, he made his way back to the corner, where the ghost boy was still standing, waiting for him. Reaching into the bag, Deku pulled out a can of apple cidra, and put it by the vase and photo, making it as part of the memorial.

When the ghost boy reached down to grab it, the can seemed to create a spectral form of itself, like the boy'd gladly accepted the offering, set at his memorial.

"Thanks mister." The kid said.

"Anytime. I just want to help you pass through to the other side as swiftly as possible, so you don't suffer here anymore." Deku said, sitting down next to the memorial. "So, how exactly did you die?"

"I don't know. One minute I was walking my dog, the next I suddenly find myself standing over my own body. But there was someone there. A man, and he was…"

"Stop…" Deku growled. "I can pretty much guess the rest of what happened."

Deku was disgusted that something like that, happened outside his own home, and he didn't even catch a hint of it going on, he tried not to blame himself to it, he'd been at his cram school lessons during that time. If he'd been more aware of what was happening, and skipped cram school that day, Deku might have been able to keep the boy from dying all together.

"I'm sorry that happened to you. You shouldn't have gone through what you did, and it was wrong of whoever killed you, to do that." Deku said. "Do you know why you're stuck here instead of having passed on?"

"I think… it might be because I had an argument with my mommy that night. I took my dog out for a walk when I was pretty mad and… I just wanna apologize to her. I want her to know I didn't mean what I said to her, and that I love her." The boy said, as he began to tear up.

"I see, you're just wanting to see her smile as she accepts your apology before you cross over to the other side." Deku clarified. "I can help with that. But give me a couple days. I'll have everything set up for you to make your apology by Thursday."

"Really?" The boy asked, looking at him hopefully.

"I promise." Deku smiled.

"Thank you." The boy said, crying into Deku as he hugged him.

'Did I forget to mention I can make physical contact with them?' Deku sighed. "Alright, you hang tight, while I take care of what I need to."

Getting up from the ground, Deku went into his house, and got ready for this little adventure he'd be going on.

'First, I'm gonna find the sicko who killed the boy, and make him pay, and then I'm gonna get his parents to pay me a visit. The police should have already put out an APB on the suspect, given he left plenty of his DNA at the crime scene.' Deku thought, getting dressed in a scarlet red tank top, a black leather vest, and cargo pants, with fingerless knuckled gloves, and steel toed combat boots. 'This is what I do. If the ghost of someone tells me they were murdered, I go out, hunt down their killer, and get justice for the poor souls to help them rest in peace. But on occasion…' Hey Kid." Deku called out as he exited his door. "It's kinda chilly out, why don't you come in and get warmed up?"

"Really sir?"

"Yeah. I'll be out for a while, so I need someone to watch the house." Deku smiled.

"Thank you." The ghost boy said, flying through the walls.

Locking the door behind him, Deku made his way down the street, pulling out one of the drinks he'd purchased from the convenience store. A bottle of cola, with a cap you need a bottle opener for.

"Now then…" Deku thought, as he flicked the cap off. "First place I should start looking, is the police station. See if my old friend has some useful intel for me."

Making a trip to the police station, Deku spotted his informant, who was sitting in the police chief's office.

"Hey, glad to see you're making an early start on the day, Kotetsa." Deku said, coming into the office.

"Deku… what brings you by?" Kotetsa questioned, with a not so pleasant expression and tone in his voice.

"Aw don't be sour. Is that anyway to talk to the guy who helped you climb the ranks to police chief?" Deku asked, taking a seat across from the desk.

"What is it you're wanting this time?"

"The name of the man who's DNA you found at the crime scene right outside my house." Deku said.

There was a tense moment of silence, as Kotetsa and Deku looked at one another, with the police chief, seeing a burning fire behind the cold eyes of the teen sitting across from him.

"I had a feeling you'd be coming for that sooner or later." Kotetsa said, going around his office and closing the blinds. "So we'll just skip the usual argument of how I can't give you such sensitive information, and I'll give you his file." Kotetsa reached for a file on his desk, and handed it to Deku. "The perps name is Shishoda Kussatorie. A registered pedophile and sex offender. Just got out of prison two weeks ago, stayed under the radar for a bit, before claiming his first victim after he got out, the boy who died right outside your home. We've searched the place he was last known to be staying at, but he's long since abandoned it. I was actually considering calling you in on this one, since you're the best there is at what you do, despite only being in high school."

"That is true." Deku said, looking through Kussatorie's file.

"Yet I can't help but wonder why your name is Deku." Kotetsa said. "You're far from useless, hell you've made everyone's job here so much easier."

"It's personal Chief." Deku said. "Any leads on where to start looking?"

"Sadly no. But I'm sure you can find him. You've gone searching for someone on far less information." Kotetsa pointed out.

"That I have."

"I take it you'll be requiring your usual fee afterwards?" Kotetsa questioned.

"That, and a favor." Deku said, getting up and leaving the file. "Alright, I'll see you in a bit. I'll even be bringing you a present."

"Deku, one more thing." Kotetsa said, stopping Deku before he could leave. "When you find him, don't shy away from 'roughing him up' before bringing him in."

"Only if he resists Chief." Deku smirked, heading out the door.

Leaving the office, Deku secretly made his way to the roof of the police station. Looking out into the city, Deku couldn't help but feel like he was missing something, something that he had back on Vegeta. There weren't many things he had, and he had those here in this world, but what was he missing that left him feeling this empty inside?

Putting his personal issues on the back burner, Deku closed his eyes, and concentrated, spreading his aura out across the city as far as it would go, trying to pinpoint any signs of Kussatorie's Ki. This technique he was employing, he'd learned through some training from the old crow that had brought him to this world, and given him his second chance at life, even leaving his species the same, hiding the Saiyan among the humans of this world.

Picking up a faint trace of perverted and malicious intent, just as the sun began to rise, Deku felt a ping and recognized that disgusting Ki. He'd felt it the night the murder happened, while making his way home from evening cram school, and he'd hated himself ever since for not doing anything about it.

"Got you, ya son of a bitch." Deku growled, taking to the air, and flying in the direction the Ki signature came from. The closer he got, the easier it was to pinpoint the exact location, and his eyes widened in anger and horror when he realized who might be targeted.

A bit of a ways away, the sun was just starting to rise as a young boy with spiky red hair, and a young girl with black hair in pig tails, stepped out of the old style building they were living in, and began doing their chores. Neither of them noticing the eyes, glaring at them with lustful and perverted intent, coming from the shadows in the alley. Kussatorie held a bat in his hand, to make it easier for him to nab his victims, and to keep them quiet while he dragged them away, and if he ended up killing them in the process, that was no weight on his conscious. Just as he was about to make his move, there was a snap

"Hey buddy. What you looking at?" Deku's voice came from behind him.

Kussatorie quickly turned around in shock, before swinging his arm, and baseball bat, covered in dried blood, to who'd snuck up on him. Deku caught the bat and looked at it, finding multiple layers of dried blood on it, his eyes widened in anger.

"How many other victims, have you claimed?" Deku questioned, glaring at him.

Kussatorie just backed away from Deku, before he was sent flying with a kick to the stomach, and landed in the empty lot the two kids were doing their chores in.

"What the hell?"

"Jinta, Ururu. Get inside, now." Deku growled, never taking his eyes off Kussatorie, as he made himself known to them from both his voice, and marching out of the alley.

"Right away." Ururu said, heading inside.

"You're not the boss of me." Jinta argued.

"NOW." Deku shouted, his voice deeper, and more menacing, and his canines looked sharper, as he turned his gaze towards Jinta.

"R-right." Jinta said, shaking in his boots, before running into the house.

"Answer me Kussatorie. How many more victims have you claimed, besides the boy you murdered in front of my house?" Deku questioned, his grip tightening on the bat in his hand. It was hard, but it was taking all his will power to restrain himself to not shatter the murder weapon right there in his grip.

"I swear, I haven't killed anyone." Kussatorie said, coughing as he picked himself up, getting to his feet.

"Big mistake lying to me." Deku said. "You're going back into the slammer, either as you are now, or in a body cast. Your choice."

Kussatorie just backed up, before he grabbed a wooden beam and got up, swinging it at Deku, and hitting him in the head, breaking the wood in half, and splintering the middle.

"Body cast it is." Deku growled, turning his head back to Kussatorie, blood dripping down the right side of his face and eye, making him look even more intimidating and menacing.

~Precinct~

"Jesus." Kotetsa gasped, seeing Deku come in, dragging Kussatorie behind him in cuffs, with blood dripping down his face. "Deku, are you alright?"

"I'm fine. The bastard just put up more of a fight than I thought he would." Deku said, dropping the cuffed, breathing, fugitive on the ground. "I found him hunting his next targets. He made it personal because they're the kids of a friend of mine. So I roughed him up a bit more than I should have."

"Well I'm glad to see you haven't lost your edge." Kotetsa said, before noticing the blood on the side of Deku's head. "But you look like you need a hospital."

"I'll be fine. I don't need one." Deku said. "I'll just collect my fee and be on my way."

"Right." Kotetsa acknowledged. "Your usual fee, a 24pack of Dr. Pepper, and a check for 70,000 Yen."

"Thanks." Deku accepted the fee. "Call me if you have any other cases you need my help with." He said, taking off. "Now if you'll excuse me, I've got school to get ready for."

"Right, have a good day." Kotetsa said.

"Oh, and one more thing. That favor I wanted." Deku said. "The boy who was murdered in front of my house, have his parents meet me at the memorial for their son tomorrow afternoon. There's something they need to hear."

Leaving the precinct, Deku made his way back to his home. It had been rather uneventful, after the fight, so he was needing to clean up as soon as he could. Unfortunately, he was gonna be delayed even more now, since there was someone waiting for him outside his home, holding a fan with a walking stick, wearing a green kimono, and a hat, with ash blonde hair sticking out, and wooden clogs on his feet.

"Deku. I assume your morning went pretty well. I appreciate what you did for Jinta and Ururu, protecting them from that scumbag, but you broke the cardinal rule again." He said, not even looking in Deku's direction as he neared his house.

"Yeah, I know, I know. Just give me a sec to put this down yeah?" Deku asked, putting down the case of soda, and taking off his vest, and shirt. Turning around, Deku revealed that a large portion of his back was covered in tally mark scars in clusters of five.

"What's this make now? Fifty?" The man questioned.

"Actually, this makes seventy-five. But you already knew that, didn't you?" Deku asked, bracing for what came next, as he got on his knees, his back facing the clogs wearing man.

"Oh course I did." The man smiled, adding another tally to the cluster. "I can count."

"The diagonal ones always hurt the worst." Deku hissed, biting back the pain. "But you take joy in seeing me suffer don't you? After all, you were the one who brought me here ten years ago. Kisuke Urahara."

~Flashback~

"Urahara, what are you doing here?" Yemma questioned. "You're not a member of the Soul Society anymore, so you have no jurisdiction here."

"Relax big guy. I'm here as a businessman, not a Soul Reaper." Kisuke smiled. "Now then kid. My name is Kisuke Urahara. I'm here to offer you a deal."

"What kind of deal?" Five questioned as Yemma got back on the phone.

"I'll bring you to the world I came from before I died, and in return, all I ask is a few simple favors. A little cleaning here, and a little transporting there. Simple stuff." Kisuke said.

"That's all you want?" Five asked.

"So long as you're willing to come to me whenever I call upon you, then I have no objections to bringing you to my world." Kisuke said. "It looks like you could use the lap of luxury too kid. You look like you went through a chopping block. Parents tally each thing you did wrong?" He asked, spotting the tally marks on Five's chest.

"I did this, one mark for each time I broke my cardinal rule." Five stated. "My rule of senseless violence."

"Which for you would mean?"

"Starting a senseless fight, instead of defending myself against an attacker." Five said.

"I see… Then how about this kid? We'll start a new tab on your tally's." Kisuke said. "It won't matter how many you collect, so long as your tally's don't end up covering your back entirely, you can remain in my world. But if there's room for no more tally's upon your back, you will be brought back here, and you won't be given another chance. How's that for incentive?"

"On one condition." Five said.

"No, don't take an offer from a disgrace like Kisuke." Yemma said, putting his hand over the bottom part of the phone.

"Let's hear ya out kid." Kisuke smiled.

"When I'm ready, and I'm strong enough, I will be permitted to take revenge, against Frieza, for what he did to my people." Five said.

"Oh, that's a paradox. Your cardinal rule is to go against senseless violence, but revenge is senseless violence…"

"I don't care." Five said. "If it's what breaks the deal when I fulfill it, then so be it. Frieza destroyed my entire race, with barely any survivors to speak of."

"I like that fire in your eyes kid." Kisuke said with a smile. "Deal."

Kisuke went walking towards Five, preparing to bring him into the fold of his group but paused when Yemma came down on him with a fist, only for it to be stopped, and for Yemma to be knocked back, with barely any effort from Kisuke deflecting Yemma's attack.

"But first, we gotta do something about that name of yours. Five doesn't really sound like a good name." Kisuke smiled, before moving away some of the shredded bandages over Five's chest. "Deku huh? Did you carve that into your chest as well kid?"

"No, this one was carved by a jerk who thought it was fun to torture me." Five said. "What does deku mean?"

"In Japanese, it's a word that means useless. When someone is called deku, it's usually to insult them, and make the individual feel like he's not worth anything, or that they can't do anything, they're just a waste of space." Kisuke explained.

Five looked down at the scar Brocko carved into his chest, then back at Kisuke.

"That's exactly what I was. A useless good for nothing. Who couldn't even save those he cared for." Five said. "Deku, will be my name from now on."

"You sure kid? There won't be any going back from this once you've settled into my world. Are you absolutely sure?" Kisuke asked.

"I'm sure." He said. "From now on my name, is Deku."
