For a few days after that unusual occurrence in their base everyone went on with their tasks a little more tense with the only exception of the twins.
Ruffnut and Tuffnut were constantly snickering every time they met Hiccup, Astrid or Dagur. They remarked on how modern their relationship was and how inspirational they were for the new generation of all the tribes of the islands.

Many times Astrid had been seen walking around with a death glare on this face, followed closely by a distressed Hiccup trying to reason with her. It was clear that any attempt had failed up to that point.

As a result of their leader and vice leader's not so subtly fight, everyone was anxious and feared to go near either of them.

That had been the new asset of the life in the Edge.

Dagur huffed for the hundredth time. That day he was once more working on his dragon training since his arm was completely healed.

Hiccup had been avoiding him and it was out of question that he would teach him something more about Shattermaster and in general how to fly with his dragon, so he was grateful for Fishlegs's tuition instead. He was a Gronkle connoisseur and enthusiast after all.

Too bad that, in the middle of their flight, the twin had decided they needed entertainment for the day. He was really, REALLY trying to not respond to their provocations. But by Odin if that was hard.

"Nice grab on Shattermaster, Dagur" Ruffnut teased him comfortably perched on Barf's head. She was obviously waiting for his brother to join in that new day of torment.

"Yeah that's probably all thanks to Hiccup's special training" Tuffnut added and grinned widely when he saw Fishlegs's discomfort.

"Guys please stop with this teasing. You are not making things easier around here" Fishlegs tried to talk some sense into them but of course it was pointless with the twins.

"We are not teasing, we are just giving the right interpretation to what had happened" the male twin was falsely indignated and her sister added with her hands entwined in front of her chest "A perfect love story. The sunset, two lovers, a passionate kiss"

"Hey! We did NOT kiss!" Dagur exploded and Shattermaster jolted in the air because of the sudden reaction.

"Well, too bad" Tuffnut was not amused by that statement that was meant to ruin their fun"We will be sure to write the right script in our book"

"Yes. It will become a best selling novel"

Now it was Fishlegs's turn to sigh as Dagur roared and began chasing them angrily, every good intention to stay calm flying off his dragon.

Luckily the twins were used to run away from angered people; moreover their dragon was naturally faster than Dagur's own, so their life wasn't in immediate danger. And that could be a good or bad thing depending on how one considered it.

Fishlegs waited for Dagur to come back after he successfully chased the two away, at least for now. He offered him a reassuring smile but the Berserker was livid and was now ready to go back to his sulking.

Fishlegs decided it was best to distract him, so he resumed their training and put all his Gronckle knowledge to use. He told the other each and every discovery he had found out while living with the sweet Meatlug, every information Dagur could use to communicate non verbally with his dragon.

He tried his best but it wasn't too long that Fishlegs had to give up. In the end Dagur was still unfocused. He was responding well to the teaching and had a good memory but he was still distracted. Fishlegs knew his mind was probably elsewhere, and not without reason.

"Next time we will try the Gronckle drop" he suggested as he gently tried to break the other out of his sulking.

"Uh? Yes yes, it's a good idea" Dagur nodded absentmindedly. He kept his gaze on Shattermaster as he scratched his bumpy head.

They got back to the base and to the dragon's stables. They fed their companions with delicious rocks but worked in silence, one lost in his thoughts, the other leaving him in peace.

Snotlout came by with Heather, both of them looking worriedly at Dagur but Fishlegs just shook his head. It wasn't a good moment for a chat.

Heather made a move to go toward her brother but the dark haired viking muttered a few words and stopper her. Without any additional comment they jumped on their dragons and began their guard duty for the day.

The two Gronckle riders took care of their dragons, grooming them before it was their time to rest. As they were finishing that relaxing task, they both heard Hiccup's stern voice and Astrid's angered tone.

Fishlegs looked worriedly at the redhead but didn't say a word.
Dagur mumbled something about the madness of the situation and the blonde mentally agreed with him. This was getting out of control and they had to be sure the dragon hunters wouldn't caught them careless once more.

"I'm going to talk to them" Fishlegs said suddenly as he moved in the direction of the loud voices.

Dagur had been startled by that resolute statement completely out of the blue and, to his mind, quite uncharacteristic for the usually calm guy of the bunch. He wasn't going to meddle anyway, he just shrugged and got back tending to his dragon.

It was a nice kind of work, he didn't have to think about it. It gave him a feeling of peace, even if a fake one; behind the mechanical actions, in fact, his mind was a mess.

His memory kept on rewind the images that had started all that mess. Hiccup lying beneath him, charmingly close. A petrified Hiccup that had walked away from him. His cheek red and warm under his fingers.

With a growl he stopped petting Shattermaster and began scratching his head instead. Hard.

He couldn't fathom why he was so distressed about all this. It was a misunderstanding. Blondie got jealous because of the twin's insinuations and now Hiccup was furious with him for some reason.

Dagur had wanted the hooligan's heir to feel at ease with him around. Yes, he may have exaggerated on the closeness part but really was that really a big deal? Hiccup had finally started to react pleasantly toward him, he was more and more relaxed every time he got close.

Other images flashed in his mind, the slim but firm body against his own, the brilliance of those amazing green eyes.

"AaaaAAA!"

Fiery strands were plucked out as he yelled, the pain seemed to be the only way of keeping his turmoil at bay. It was getting confusing, he felt strange and he didn't know why. Maybe he was still deranged after all.

Shattermaster licked his face, feeling his distress "Thank you Shattermaster" Dagur hugged his dragon, deeply grateful for that reassuring presence.

"Dagur?"

The redhead froze. He slowly turned to search for the origin of that voice. It wasn't difficult to see Hiccup, his face frowning, as he walked toward him.

The Berserker gasped and he would have backed off if his Gronckle wasn't in the way of his retreat.

"H-hi Hiccup" he stuttered with an obviously nervous smile on his face, his voice a tad higher than normal "Long time no see eh?ha haha"

If the other had noticed the Berserker's state of mind he gave no indication; he looked coolly at him "Your armour is ready, come with me" and without waiting for the other to reply, he turned and began walking.

Dagur shivered at that cold behaviour, it seemed that the other was now showing bitter hate instead of repulsion.

He sighed in defeat, patted his dragon on the head and left him to follow ruefully the rider's leader. They were walking in the direction of Hiccup's hut of course. It seemed so long ago he was invited inside to receive that gift of appreciation. Well he didn't actually received it then, he was going to right now; and yet he felt it was all wrong.

"Listen Hiccup" he called out for him and stopped walking forcing the other to do the same. Green eyes met and Dagur sighed again "I'm sorry about whatever is happening-" he began but he was quickly interrupted.

"Tell me later"

"What will change later?" the redhead asked in a nearly hysterical voice "I think I should just leave in search of my father. It will be better for everyone here"

"Oh for the love of Thor" Hiccup rolled his eyes and marched to him, took him by one wrist and dragged him back on the path to the hut.

They arrived and Hiccup gently pushed inside the now resigned redhead viking. He dragged himself in the center of the room, shoulders slumped down as he waited the inevitable discussion.

The hooligan's heir pulled down the door, effectively shutting his house from the outside base.

"Now, while you continue your rant, I have a few adjustments to do so stay still" he told him and went to grab the promised armour for him. "Put it on" He finally asked the Berserker. He backed away a few seconds to take a few tools as well and resumed his position in front of the older male.

He seemed calm, or maybe it was the dim light inside the hut to build that illusion. Dagur nodded at the request and put the plates back on; as soon as he did that he couldn't stop a pleased grunt at that feeling. He felt whole again. After all a Berserker without his armour was, probably, a dead one.

Hiccup was silent as he began to check the thickness of the outer material he had added, right over the Skrill design. While he was working he paused to look at the edgy viking "Didn't you want to say anything to me?" he asked and tapped this breast plates "Do you feel too preassure here?"

"No, not too much. As usual" Dagur replied after a second of consideration "and yes I was saying sorry because somehow I made Astrid and you mad and it wasn't my intention".

"Somehow? You mean you don't know?" Hiccup stopped tightening the hidden compartment to look at him, one eyebrow raised in disbelief.

"Well, I know blondie got jealous because of those two wooden heads..." Dagur blinked and was forced to shut up again since Hiccup kept staring at him without saying a word. Now it was his turn to stare back.

"You really don't know" Hiccup snorted in the end. Deep reasoning wasn't his forte after all. "I've put a similar device as my shield in here" he said and tapped his breast plates he was checking earlier "So be careful not to press here on your side if you don't want it to activate"

"Cool" Dagur was amazed by that new feature and he wanted to try it right away to learn about its potential but Hiccup wasn't finished yet. "I also hid a small blade in here. In case of emergency you know" he shrugged and opened his arms as to inform him it was all. He put down his tools.

"Thank you" Dagur smiled but he couldn't hide the fact that there was something missing. He was still hurting and grinding his teeth as result.

"Now for what concerns the problem at hand. I suppose I could you let you go and just forget about it" Dagur could see that Hiccup was actually considering that option. The Berserker was ready to accept whatever decision at that point. "but I'm part of the problem as much as you so it wouldn't be any different"

"But without me around-"

"Shut up for a second" Hiccup told him and he took his head with his hands and pulled it close to his own.

Dagur was caught completely off guard as their lips crashed together. His mind stopped working, he was flooded by sensation and emotions all together at once.

He could feel the touch of his lips unmoving at first then tentatively working against his own; he could taste the delicious treat that was his wet skin, so hot and soft. He could smell the forge, sweat and Hiccup's very own intoxicating scent. He needed more, it was too much and yet not enough.

The berserker's eyes fluttered shut and his whole body trembled and he wrapped his arms around the other's waist to join their full bodies in a heated union.

The newly awoken urgent need and the delicious friction of their bodies sent the younger viking over the edge. He moaned into the kiss and opened his mouth, allowing the other to plunge inside with his tongue, hungry for that sensations more than for air itself. Both were fighting for predominance between an erratic breath and another.

The feeling of the rough beard scratching his face and the soft but firm tongue inside his mouth combined turned Hiccup's body like butter in the sun. He failed to stand but the strong arms wrapped tightly around him were a perfect support as the Berserker laid him on the closest surface available. Tools were knocked off and made loud noises upon crashing on the floor.

The redhead was too beyond into that vortex of feelings to hear anything as he continued ravishing his precious prize, pushing both bodies over the table, closer and closer. He stopped to shift his attention to the long neck, alternating kisses and bites, grinding his body at every moan he elicited from the one trembling beneath him.

"Dagur" Hiccup called him with a quivering voice but the other just growled and tried to turn back to shut that noisy mouth with his own.

"Dagur" the voice was back and now Dagur felt hands pushing against his shoulder and chest, restraining him. He fought for a second while he was catching his breath. His feverish gaze met Hiccup's intense yet clear one.

"Dagur, stop" he repeated now that he was sure the other was actually hearing him.

The Berserker blinked and tensed. Reality came back crushing and his mind finally caught up with the situation he was in.

Signs of his burning desire were visible on Hiccup's face and neck, deep red spots and scratches over his already heated skin; as he kept on panting heavily he felt all the discomfort of his lower parts now that the mindblowing friction was put to a stop. His eyes widened in confusion.

"Wh-" the Berserker tried to formulate a question but there were too many at once and he had already overloaded himself for the day.

"I think this proves my point" Hiccup faintly continued, he was having troubles with his breathing as well. He tried to straighten himself but at that movement the other backed away as he had been burned.

Dagur's fight or flight reaction kicked in and this time he chose the latter. With a crashing sound he raised violently the mechanical door and run away as madman he felt himself to be.
