PhantomGalaxy13: Thank you for the kind words! And don't worry about the men in black, or Thomas getting pulled into some crazy side story lol I do have plans for them but for now the focus will be on the breaches and nothing more :3 Thomas' situation will be addressed proper soon~
. . . Cody, Sam, Madison . . .
Night had fallen over the city, but Cody, Sam and Madison hadn't left the warehouse yet. Staring at a small TV screen displaying news of a train forced to make an emergency stop in Oregon after a fuel line leak resulted in an explosion that destroyed several cars. The company that owned it were already making speeches assuring everyone that it was a freak accident, and all their machines are perfectly safe for travel, trying to protect their stocks of course.
But for these three, they knew the truth.
"They're hiding what really happened." Madison muttered, Tsukaimon tucked into her arms as she watched worriedly. "But... If it was as big as you said, there has to have been evidence of the fight, or witnesses..."
"Thomas hasn't contacted me since it happened," Samantha explained, "But his Digivice is still active, so we can assume he's alive and so is his partner, if their connection were broken in any way it wouldn't be functional." Before crossing her arms, "My guess, is that the government is stepping up their efforts to contain this from the press... With this, and Ebidramon making headlines at the beach, they're afraid of causing a panic."
"So what they kidnapped this kid and his partner?" Cody assumed, already raising his voice. "Who knows what he's going through right now, we've got the location we should do something!"
"Yeah!" Shamanmon nodded, holding up his club.
"Like what?" Sam scoffed, turning to look at him. "Start a fight with the government?"
"You're not thinking," Darcmon shook her head, adding to Sam's scolding. "Thomas had a family, and reporters aren't saying anything about causalities, if they wanted to get rid of him or interrogate him they'd likely report him as a casualty."
Cody clenched his fists, eyes looking away to the ground, "Still... It ain't right, he's just a kid."
"I know, but we have to trust they'll see him as more of an asset than a threat," Samantha said with a heavy sigh. "We've got other issues to worry about, the arrival of this BlackAgumon through Thomas' laptop confirms my fears."
"What? That its more than just a bunch of angry sea monsters trying to kill us?" Cody scoffed.
"No," She shook her head, "I think the only digimon targeting us are apart of this aquatic alliance, but what happened to Thomas was a freak accident." She stated, "He said over the phone in what little time we had to speak, that this Digimon was drawn to his Digivice signal through his laptop while it was connected."
Madison lifted her head finally, looking between them. "Meaning what exactly? We have to get rid of our digivices? Or keep them away from other electronics?"
"The latter most likely," She replied with a shrug, "But it confirms my fears that the boundaries between our worlds are getting weaker... It can all be traced back to the expansion of Cyber Space and our harvest of a new power source through Cyber Core, the Digital World is getting closer and closer to our own..."
"And what the hell are we supposed to do about it?" Cody questioned, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "That doesn't sound good."
"For now, I don't think there is anything we can do about it." Sam shook her head, "If there were no evil digimon, it wouldn't be a problem... We could maybe learn to coexist, but as it stands all we can do is try to contain and eliminate the bad digimon that come through to our side."
"Well that's just great," Cody grunted, rolling his eyes. "Fine, we'll kick the ass of anything that pops up over here," Before he was hit by a sudden feeling of tiredness, yawning. "Damn, how late is it? Time really flew by while we were watching the news..." He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm gonna head back to my place."
Sam nodded, "We should all get some rest, these past few days have been stressful for us and our Digimon."
"No kidding." Tsukaimon muttered.
"We can meet back here again tomorrow," Madison said with a faint smile. "Sound good?"
Cody nodded, "Yeah, Shamanmon you stay put until I get back alright?"
"Right!" He nodded, raising his club in approval, "Have a nice walk home!"
Both Sam and Cody started heading for the exit, while Darcmon took to the skies and flew off, but Madison remained behind. The others seemed to notice, and stopped near the doors. "You coming?" Sam asked, quirking an eyebrow.
"I'll catch up," She assured, waving them off. "You guys go on ahead."
They didn't seem to argue, and continued on their way leaving Madison alone with Shamanmon and Tsukaimon. She made her way over the nearby table, where she'd set up a small bed for her partner made of a blanket she'd brought from home and a nice soft pillow. "Lets get you tucked in to bed." She smiled, setting Tsukaimon down while Shamanmon made his way over to his favorite dark corner to take a rest, not to worried about the softness of the ground he slept on.
"I don't wanna sleep here again," Tsukaimon pouted, "Its dark, and scary, and you're not here when I wake up."
Madison took a seat beside the table, "I know, I'm sorry but I can't risk dad finding out about you yet," She explained, petting Tsukaimon's head. "Don't worry, I'll figure something out for us, I promise."
But the truth was, she'd been stressing out all day. Since the attack by those two fish digimon, and now the incident with the train. Sam was starting to think she was in way over her head.
"Hey..." Tsukaimon interrupting her thoughts, "D-Do you think you could... Sing for me?"
Madison blinked in surprise, "Sing?"
"Yeah," The little Digimon fidgeting with her tiny hands as if she were in trouble. "I know you said not to but... I looked through some of those papers you left lying around here before... Those were songs right?" She asked, looking up at her. "Songs that you wrote."
Madison blushed with embarrassment, "I-I mean... Yeah, they are but I can't really-"
"Please," Tsukaimon turned on those big adorable eyes, "It'll help me sleep."
"How?" Madison questioned, "Nothing I wrote was a lullaby..."
Her ears drooped down, "Where I came from... It was a dark part of the Digital World, I told you before it was scary... I had a friend, Wizardmon, who would sometimes sing to help me sleep when I was scared."
She just looked so sad, and Madison knew that staying in this dark run down building must have been reminding Tsukaimon of the bad home she came from. So she relented, putting her doubts and fear of critique aside. "Okay just... Give me a moment."
Quickly, she made her way over to where she'd left the papers. Hiding away behind a few old boxes, she pulled them out and blew off the loose dirt and dust. Quickly she started shuffling through them, trying to find something that might help her little friend. "Why do I have to write so much sad garbage?" She wondered, sighing heavily as she pulled one out.
"Okay, I can play this on my ukulele." She said with a smile, retrieving the small instrument from her pile of things nearby. She'd left it here for Tsukaimon to play with, knowing her dad was just looking for an excuse to throw it away. "Okay, you ready?" Asking herself more than her partner.
Tsukaimon got cozy beneath her blanket, nodding her head. "Yeah."
Madison took a deep breath, and began working her fingers over the strings. Strumming them gently, starting a soft tune that echoed through the abandoned building and out into the night. She maybe let it linger for a little too long, stalling as she prepared to open her mouth. She'd never actually played for someone before, let alone sing for them.
But it was for her partner, so she put those fears aside. "I guess, I'll have to face... That in this awful place, I shouldn't show a trace, of doubt..." Closing her eyes, the words coming naturally. "But pulled against the grain, I feel a little pain, that I would rather do without..." While Tsukaimon's eyes slowly closed as well. "I'd rather be, free~ I'd rather be, free~" Her voice trailing off, she continued strumming the strings a few more times before letting the notes slowly die out. "From here..."
Waiting for the sound to fade, wanting to make sure Tsukaimon was actually asleep. She breathed out a small sigh of relief, upon confirming she was out.
"Sleep tight." She said with a soft smile. Setting her instrument down before she got up to take her leave. Suddenly feeling like a weight of some sort had been lifted off her shoulders, was it really just because she'd made her partner feel better? Madison had noticed it before, but now more so than before did she realize just how deeply this little adorable digimon had wormed its way into her heart.
It felt so strange, this sensation of caring for a creature that was so dependent on her. Was this what having a child was like? Was this how she felt in that moment?
These were thoughts that plagued her mind the whole way home, it left her feeling sad by the time she arrived. But, it wasn't a bad type of sadness, it actually felt... Good to feel this way, to feel anything about that day.
That terrible day.
For a long time, Madison had chosen to forget rather than deal with the pain. Shut down, and feel nothing instead...
"You're home late," Her father was halfway to his car when she reached the front steps of their home. On his way to start the night shift no doubt. His tone accusative as always, but less hostile than on a normal day. "You weren't out drinking or smoking or anything right?"
Madison paused on the steps leading up to the door, fighting every instinct she had to shut down and just agree with him. She had to face this, one way or another. Confront a feeling she'd had for a long time now, "Dad..." Turning to look at him, smiling faintly. "I'm sorry that I lived, and she didn't."
Anything he might have been planning to say, any remarks he'd planned to chastise her with, were lost against the sincerity of her voice. As he stared back at his daughters gentle, smiling face that somehow still looked so sad. "You don't- I never-" But he couldn't hold eye contact, shying away from her gaze as if he were unworthy of it. "Go get some sleep, I'll see you tomorrow..." Head lowered as he continued on his way.
She nodded, turning and making her way inside. The feelings welling up in her chest, they were spilling over by the time she reached her room. The door closing behind her, just as a few tears began to run down her face. A newfound energy coursing through her veins, she didn't make way for the bed instead turning on a lamp and sitting at her desk.
Pen striking paper, even as teardrops stained the margins.
"I think... I'd like to write something happy for once."
. . .
. . . Kai Sarata . . .
Elsewhere, a pair of teens sat on a bench beneath the stars. Watching the few clouds in the sky roll by while enjoying the light of the moon blanketing the park.
"It's getting late, Lady Tanaka" Kai said, looking to the woman beside him. "We should head back."
She was a dark haired beauty, of purest Japanese descent, the heir to a great family fortune and well respected house. "I suppose you're right," Sakura Tanaka, Kai's future bride to be. "Let's go." In all aspects, she was the epitome of beauty. With gorgeous, intelligent brown eyes, and an athletic yet curvaceous body some women would kill for. And long, straight raven black hair. Wearing a bright yellow summer dress purchased for the occasion of this trip.
Kai rose to his feet and offered her a hand up, like a perfect gentlemen. Before the duo would begin walking along the path that would lead them out of the park. "So, how have you enjoyed your first day in the States?" He questioned, trying to keep things casual.
"It has been nice," She assured with a smile, "Getting away from home for a little while was something I needed," She added with a light chuckle, "A break from the family before starting college, you know?"
"Wish I could get one of those..." Kai thought, nodding his head in agreement, "Yes I'm sure in a family of your esteem there is a lot of pressure."
"Indeed." Sakura said, though her shift in tone told him that the answer he'd given was not satisfactory. "It's strange to think, in a few short years we'll be married."
Kai struggled not to miss a step as he walked, "R-Right, once we finish college, that's what the plan is right?"
"That is the plan, yes..." Sakura replied, before coming to a stop. Her eyes turning to the colorful lights of the nearby boardwalk. "Come on." She grabbed his hand suddenly, leading him towards the lights, with or without his permission.
But Kai was to be on his best behavior, so he didn't fight back. "You sure? It is getting pretty late, I doubt much will be open Lady Tanaka." He noted.
"Yeah, I don't mind, I just want to see the lights up close." She answered simply. "And please... For tonight can I just be Sakura?"
Giving Kai pause, hearing the tones of sadness in her voice. "Yeah, sure thing... Sakura."
Kai Sarata and Sakura Tanaka had known each other since they were children. The decision made long before either of them had any understanding of the weight it carried. Their families planning a union that would bolster both their renown as prominent families of pure Japanese descent, but increase their wealth as a whole. Like characters in a movie, the script of their lives had been laid out for them many years ago, and to the day they both played along as they were supposed to.
In spite of all his own misgivings, his doubts, Kai would not stray from this path. Because he knew nothing else, there was only the path... And uncertainty.
But for tonight? For a few hours beneath the stars, these two would do something for themselves for once.
. . .
. . . Kotemon . . .
While Kai enjoyed his brief respite from his familial duties, his partner was busy sneaking in through the window of his room. Rolling over the side, hitting the ground with a loud thud followed by an "OOF!" As the wind was knocked from his lungs. Sitting up, Kotemon looked around to make sure nobody had seen or heard him. But all seemed clear, so he made his way towards the door leading out into the hall.
"All quiet, everyone must be asleep..." He nodded, stepping out carefully and making his way towards the small training grounds out back. The place where he'd met his partner, where he'd emerged into this world.
Kotemon stepped out into the grass, looking to the nearby racks of kendo swords. It had only been a few days, but the memory of their encounter was fresh in his mind. The way he was bested by a human, in an instant Kai had earned unparalleled respect from this earnest little digimon. But Kotemon had begun to realize, that simply admiring him wasn't enough, that just being chosen as partners wasn't enough. Kai wasn't interested in having a digimon, or... Even having a friend, it seemed.
He took a seat in the grass, staring up at the stars. "The sky looks so different here."
"Excuse me." Kotemon stiffened, nearly jumping out of his armor as he heard a woman's voice. Turning to see an older woman in a light blue kimono standing at the edge of the field. His first instinct was to run and hide- "Please don't be scared," She said, smiling faintly. "I've been wanting to speak with you."
Kotemon swallowed nervously, "Y-You know about me?"
To which she nodded, chuckling softly as she stepped out onto the grass as well. "My father may be the head of the house, but nothing happens within these walls that I don't know about, especially when it involves my son, I am Hitomi Sarata."
"Oooh you're Kai's mom!" Digimon didn't have the best understanding of family, but Kai had told him about them before. Remembering his manners he quickly bowed his head in respect. "It is an honor to meet you, ma'am." He wasn't quite sure, but Kotemon assumed that the 'Mom' was important.
But she waved him off, taking a seat beside Kotemon in the grass. "The honor is mine, it is not every day we get a visitor from another world in our home."
Kotemon blinked in surprise, "You know what I am?"
"Not really," She shrugged, "But you seemed to appear shortly after that strange sea monster on the news, and that flying woman, so I am making some assumptions here." Before chuckling in amusement, "I assumed you might be a spirit, or a demon, good to know I am not far off."
"She is so nice! Wish Kai was this nice..." Kotemon thought briefly, "So... What did you want to speak to me about."
Hitomi went quiet for a moment, before finally explaining. "Since you showed up, it seems my sons behavior has changed... Not much, but enough that my father would take notice and crack down on him."
Kotemon bowed his head once more, "I-I apologize for any trouble I've caused Kai-"
"No please," She held up a hand. "You don't need to apologize, in fact... I'm glad you've brought some change to his life." She assured.
The little digimon lifted his head slowly, "Yeah... Seems like he could really use it."
"Indeed..." Before she looked away, "If I know my son, he's trying to push you away... Because he is afraid, he knows nothing other than the script written for him." Hitomi explained sadly, "No path but the one he has walked for most of his life." Before she looked back at him, taking one of his sleeves into her hand. "Please, don't leave him."
Startling Kotemon with her understanding of their situation, "W-What?"
"I have long since lost the strength and influence to change this family's outdated traditions," She shook her head, "My son does not show it, but he is unhappy here... I do not want this cycle of progenic puppetry to continue, I want my son to have a chance to live a life he chooses."
The little digimon's shoulders slouched slightly. "I... I want to help, but I don't know how..." He admitted, "I've tried being his friend, but I think he hates me."
Hitomi nodded slowly, "I understand... I suppose I am asking much of someone I have only just met, but I know my son, I do not think his heart is capable of hate." She said, reaching into the sleeve of her kimono. Pulling what appeared to be some kind of small stuffed animal from her sleeve, it was a blue teddy bear. "Ten years ago, he was forced to get rid of his toys and focus on training and schoolwork... This was the last thing I gave him for his birthday, I thought he'd thrown it out back then but..." She shook her head, "I found it hidden away in his room, not too long ago."
Kotemon's eyes widened, as she placed the small teddy bear into his arms.
But before he could say anything, she continued. "He's stubborn as a mule when it comes to change, but I believe you can change him, the fact that you've stuck around this long tells me all I need to know." Reaching out, she placed a hand on the chestpiece of his armor. "So please, don't leave him... Show him your heart, and maybe you can reawaken his spirit, his wonder... Wash away his fears of uncertainty."
A new fire was lit within the little digimon's chest, as he looked up at her. And with quiet resolve, gave her a firm nod, clutching the teddy bear tight to his body.
. . .
. . . Kai Sarata . . .
It was midnight, when Kai and Sakura finally departed the boardwalk. The shops had all started closing down, the rides were shutoff and workers were cleaning up or going home. The two teens were walking home now, making their way along the empty streets towards Kai's family estate. There were no cars, no one else out in this part of town at this time of night.
"That was nice," Sakura said as they went, still holding Kai's hand. "Did you enjoy it?"
"Uh- Yeah, it was fun." Kai nodded, smiling politely. Though he wasn't the best at expressing it, playing games and eating bad food was a strange yet welcome respite from his strict lifestyle.
"Its a shame that tomorrow its right back to business..." Sakura sighed lightly.
"I suppose it is unfortunate." Kai nodded in agreement. "But that is just how it is..."
"Why?" Sakura stopped suddenly, letting go of his hand. "You say it like it's set in stone."
Kai blinked in surprise, unsure where this was coming from. "Sakura relax, I didn't mean it like that it's just-"
"We were just kids when these decisions were made for us," She cut him off, shaking her head. "Isn't that so sad? That we'll never..." She trailed off slowly, before sighing heavily. "I do like you, a lot, Kai... But I wish I'd gotten to know the real you, not the one your family created."
The words struck a chord in Kai's heart, maybe because even he wasn't sure who the real him was. "Sakura-" His words were cut off as his Digivice began to buzz to life in his pocket. Kai's eyes widened, as he pulled the device from his pocket and stared at the screen. Watching a big red dot racing towards their location. "Come on, we should get home."
She turned away from him, "No, I think I'd like to be Sakura a little while longer..."
He reached out for her, "We can't stay here, it isn't safe-" The beeping was getting louder, where was it going to come from? What kind of monster was going to appear before their eyes?
"What are you talking about?" Sakura questioned, as they came to a stop outside a small convenience store. "There's nobody else here."
Before the lights inside the store began to flash and bulbs burst, electronics sparking as a light erupted from the wall of TV's near the back. A great flash, Kai pushed Sakura out of the way and got himself clear as the glass windows of the store were blown out sending glass shattering into the street.
"Wh-What was that?" Sakura asked worriedly, "Agh!" She cried as a shadow suddenly flew off from within the store.
Disappearing into the night sky, a gust of wind following it as Kai looked to his device. "A second digimon appeared as well!? But where is it going!?" He wondered, before the sound of crunching glass drew his eyes back to the store window.
Watching as a ten foot tall humanoid in armor resembling that of a samurai stepped out, a massive blade in his hand. "Hmm... Already off is he?" The warrior digimon questioned, staring up to the stars. "He doesn't waste any time... Very well, then I'll do what I came here to do quickly as well." He narrowed his eyes, turning to stare down the two teens before him. "Human, it has been decreed by my Lord that you must be destroyed, surrender and I will make your demise quick and painless."
"Wh-What is that thing talking about?" Sakura questioned, stepping back slowly.
As confident as Kai was in his abilities, he didn't think he'd be beating this one as easily as he beat Kotemon. "Sakura..." Which meant they had only one option, "RUN!"
He didn't need much time to surmise that this thing was here for him, because he had this damned digivice. Which meant if he got away from Sakura she might have a chance to escape. So as she started running towards home, he ran in a different direction.
Their assailant however, was not interested in games. "You think you I'm came for a chase?" The Samurai digimon questioned, leveling his blade at Sakura, "Let us see how brave your heart is..."
Kai had made a mistake, not realizing just how malevolent this digimon truly was. He'd target Sakura just to force Kai to throw himself in the way, was that it? "No DON'T!"
As the creature lunged forward, a shadow dashed through the air right over Sakura's head. A glowing blade in the night, leaping clear over the evil digimon's strike and slamming into his head, "Hyaagh!" Kotemon cried, the blow enough to make their enemy stumble back, holding his face from the searing pain.
"Kotemon!?" Kai exclaimed in disbelief, having not seen him since they separated at the airport. "What are you doing here!?"
Sakura had come to a stop as well, watching from behind Kotemon. "Wh-Who are you?" She asked, looking to Kai confused, "You know this guy?"
But their foe wasn't interested in proper introductions. "Hnngh! You risk much getting in my way little one," He scolded, aiming his blade at Kotemon. "Stand aside, or perish beneath the blade of Musyamon!"
"Not gonna happen," The tiny digimon replied, a fire burning in his eyes. "I'll give you one chance to go back in peace."
Musymon quirked an eyebrow, before releasing a boisterous laugh into the night sky. "You presume to let me go? As though you are in control of this fight?" He questioned, "You're a rookie, you can't hope to match my blade..."
"You're right," Kotemon answered without hesitation, "In terms of power, and skill, you're probably stronger than me... I'd prefer if we didn't fight at all," Before his grip tightened on his kendo stick, "But mark my words, Musyamon, whatever harm you do these humans I'll unleash on you TENFOLD!"
Any amusement the larger digimon felt disappeared with that threat, as he resumed his fighting stance. "Very well, show me what you can do little one!"
Before he dashed, blade at the ready to strike out against Kotemon. And to his credit, the rookie met him head on, his weapon glowing burning red as they clashed, sparks flying between them. Musyamon seemed surprised by Kotemon's strength, actually have to push himself to start driving the little digimon back. Before Kotemon jumped away, feet landing on the wall of the convenience store, he kicked off and slammed his helmet into Musyamon's gut!
"Gah!" Knocking the wind out of him, before the champion level backhanded Kotemon away, causing him to slam hard into the concrete sidewalk. "Pathetic!"
Kai ran to Sakura's side, "Are you alright?"
She nodded, as Kotemon picked himself up and continued attacking. "What is this? Who are these two!?"
"I'll explain later," A conversation Kai was already dreading. "But we need to get to safety."
"Wh-What about him?" Sakura asked, watching the fight playing out.
Kai looked back at the fight, as Kotemon attacked with a ferocity he'd never seen in the little digimon. Like a wild animal, tenacious, unrelenting. No matter how many times Musyamon slammed him into the ground, he was back on his feet in an instant.
"He can't keep fighting that thing!" Sakura exclaimed.
Kai felt himself freezing up with indecision, "If we run, maybe Musyamon will stop and chase us instead, but if we leave Kotemon he might be killed too!" Unsure what to do, he looked at his Digivice, as if it would give him some kind of answer.
"Aagh!" After a long game of dodging, Musyamon's blade finally hit it's mark. Slashing Kotemon across the chest, sending him rolling across the ground towards Kai and Sakura.
Forcing Kai to see the damage up close, a clean cut through his armor. And the beating Musyamon had been giving him showed in the cracks and broken pieces of Kotemon's armor and helmet. "K-Kotemon..."
"Hmm, your tenacity is commendable, you should join me." Musyamon offered, "Do not throw away your life so easily little digimon, there are far better things you could do than sacrifice yourself for these pitiful humans... Become my apprentice and my lord will surely grant you power as he has me!"
Despite his injuries, Kotemon began to push himself up. "N-No way... I'd never... Join someone that hurts others so carelessly..."
"Kotemon please stop," Kai pleaded, watching fragments of his armor break away and dissolve into digital dust. "Just run... Get out of here!"
"Listen to the human," Musyamon chuckled, as Kotemon stood on shaky legs. "Why do you choose death?"
Kotemon weakly held up his frayed kendo stick, the weapon barely holding itself together. "Because... I am alive, and it's my choice what I do with that life!" He declared, the passion in his voice sending a shock through Kai, "And... And because I promised someone." At this moment, Kai would see something he'd missed before, hanging off the back of Kotemon's armor.
It struck him with a tidal wave of nostalgia, old feelings for things he'd long since forgotten. As he saw the little blue teddy bear hanging off his partners armor. "Th-That's-" The digivice in his hand glow, burning hot just like when they first met, only this time it did not hurt him.
"Kai," Kotemon looked back at him briefly, "I know... I know you're scared to stray from your path, you're scared of the uncertainty... But I promise," He gripped his blade tighter, refocusing on Musyamon. "I won't let you face the uncertainty alone!"
Kai's heart raced, soaring as Kotemon's words struck something deep inside of him. While Musyamon advanced, "Enough talk!"
"LETS GO!" The little digimon cried, leaping forward with all the strength he had left.
Kai couldn't stop himself, reaching out as if he could somehow help him. The emotion, the passion, leaving him in a mighty burst as he cried. "KOTEMON!"
Digivolution
Kotemon's armor shattered as light erupted from within.
His body rapidly growing larger, until he would stand just nine feet tall.
"Kotemon Digivolve to!"
His helmet changing to a facemask, horns facing forward and up. While large, shielded wooden gauntlets appeared over his arms.
And a great mane of red hair erupted out the back of his head, as he landed on two powerful legs.
To complete the transformation, his frayed kendo stick broke in two, reforming itself into two short curved wooden blade!
The lights faded, a tall Digimon garbed in baggy grey pants, and a white tank top stood before them.
And on his back, strapped neatly in place, was the blue teddybear.
"Yasyamon!"
Musyamon hesitated briefly, before smirking. "I see, seems you may provide a worthy fight after all!" He sneered, "Let us see who's will is stronger then shall we?" He questioned, "Your loyalty to this human or my oath to my lord!"
Yasyamon held his twin blades at the ready, "If you recognize me as worthy then give up this pointless battle!" He argued, slashing one blade through the air. "You don't have to kill yourself over a lord an entire world away!"
But Musyamon was unmoved by his pleas, "You and that human are the only ones I'll be killing tonight!"
Seeing that neither side would back down, both warriors charged, full power right off the bat. Blades clashing with a flash of steel and sparks, Yasyamon blocking his foes strike with a crossguard, before raising one powerful leg and kicking him square in the chest. Forcing Musyamon to slide back on his heels, the Samurai digimon recovering just in time to sidestep Yasyamon's charging thrust, grabbing him by the wrist with his free hand before throwing him across the street and through a lamp post.
"Come on!" Kai cried as he watched, "I know you can beat him!" But as he watched, he could see it in Yasyamon's movements. There was a stiffness to them, not untrained but... Unmotivated, "He really doesn't want to hurt this guy..."
The masked champion was already back in the fray, the two trading blows and grinding steel under the moonlit sky. "You have a choice, Musyamon!" He pressed, knocking aside the warriors blade before delivering a brutal roundhouse kick to the samurai digimon. Sending him flying, letting Musyamon grind to a halt on the ground. "Walk away... Please."
Musyamon slowly pushed himself back up, "I don't want your mercy, I have sworn fealty to my Lord, to return in defeat would bring nothing but shame to me!" Gripping his blade tightly, he dashed towards Yasyamon, closing the distance with lightning speed. "PERISH!" Both arms raised with his blade held high, intent on bringing down a cleaving strike.
Yasyamon moved with grim resolve, diving forward, taking him head on without fear. He got right under Musyamon's blade, driving his own forward. "Twin Strike!"
The glowing points pierced clean into his armor, cutting deep into the Samurai digimon's body. The loud clatter of metal following as he released his weapon, falling to his knees as Yasyamon pulled the blades free. "Hrnngh! So that's... How it is... Y-You have bested me... Well done."
Yasyamon lowered his weapons, staring down at him. "I tried to end this peacefully." His tone somber, though his expression could not be discerned through the mask.
"Ah, but there can be no peace between my master and this world." Musyamon grunted out, eyes slowly closing as his body started to break down. "I go with pride, that I was felled by a worthy opponent."
Kai tensed up, feeling Sakura gripping his hand with her own. "I guess..." He turned, meeting her eyes as she spoke. "We tiny little humans aren't the only ones tied down by destiny..."
As Musyamon disappeared, Yasyamon walked over to Kai and Sakura. He reached to his back, and pulled free the stuffed animal, "I believe this is yours, partner."
Kai accepted it gratefully, feeling himself getting a little misty eyed as he nodded in response, "Yeah, I guess it is... Thank you, partner."
"I uh... Know you two are sharing a moment but," Sakura shifted nervously, "Are you going to explain who this, and what all that, was?"
