With this we'll be starting the 3 Part Season One Finale, each part is semi-bite sized, smaller than my usual chapters, but I decided to divide them up because... Idk, something about the pacing felt off with one giant chapter.

Oh well, hope you guys enjoy :D

Thomas put the word out, and the following morning the young heroes and their partners would gather at the most convenient location. That being Madison's hospital room, considering she hadn't yet been released. They had much to talk about, and it was the best time to see Maddie about it, considering her brother had gone off to work and her father was home resting.

"Yo," Cody said as he stepped through the door, looking around at the others before blinking. "Damn, last one?"

"Yep," Samantha nodded, pushing off the wall where she'd been leaning. "Now that everyone is here, lets get started."

"Right," Kai replied, "The evacuation has already started, officially its because a massive storm front has been detected moving in from the Pacific," He stated, "Of course, people are already skeptical, but the local weather stations are going along with the story for now."

"As it stands," Thomas chimed in, clicking away at his keyboard. "Evacuations of all residents within one mile of the predicted Breach Point and the coast will be completed by roughly 4:00PM today."

"That's a little too close to the estimated breach time, don't you think?" Samantha noted.

To which he shrugged, "Not much we can do about that, but I agree and there will no doubt be stragglers."

"We don't know how many digimon are going to come through," Cody crossed his arms, "With just four of us able to safely digivolve, no offense Maddie, we're gonna be in for a tough fight."

"None taken," She waved him off with a light smile, idly petting Tsukaimon in her lap. "I think it'd be best if the two of us avoided fighting entirely."

"Agreed," Kai nodded, "The military is granting some support but we still don't have any idea how effective conventional weapons will be against Digimon."

"Right," Cody sighed lightly, tilting his head back as he thought about it. "This is gonna be a real shitstorm... How is that plan of yours coming along Thomas?"

"I'm glad you asked," The boy genius grinned, "I've narrowed down a solution, using information that CSGO generously provided, regarding the energy flow the bad digimon are using to create these Breaches." Fingers clicking away at the keyboard, "I figured a way to decipher the coding the energy is using to blow a hole in Cyber Space, it behaves like a signal frequency forcing a reaction in the barriers between our worlds, since Digimon are Data its like sending an email across the net... Just, with a much bigger file attached."

"Okay," Cody nodded, pretending he understood any of that. "And uh... How exactly does that help us?"

"Because if I can override the code," His face twisting into a mischievous smirk. "I can invert the signal, and cause it to suck the Digimon that came out right back through."

"Well then," Sam shrugged, "Problem solved."

"Well, not entirely," He corrected, "The thing is, the frequency has been different with every breach, I won't know what code I have to decipher until the doorway is opened."

Kai understood immediately, "Meaning we'll have to fight until you've figured it out."

"Basically." Thomas replied, "Not fun, I know... I've already told the CSGO this."

Nobody wanted to say it, but they were all well aware that failure was not an option here, even if the chances of success were low... They had to fight. They couldn't afford to be bystanders, not after everything they had seen, and what these evil digimon were capable of.

"Take what time you need," Samantha broke the silence, "Talk to your families... We'll meet at the boardwalk in a few hours to prepare."

Cody nodded, "Right." Before stuffing his hands into the pockets of his jacket and stepping out, followed by Thomas rolling by and Sam leaving as well.

Madison frowned as she watched them go, "Please be safe everyone!" Lowering her head a bit, "I'm... I'm sorry we can't help you."

Kai paused, halfway through the doorway as he looked back at her. He hesitated for a moment as she locked eyes with him, suddenly finding himself unable to give a simple apology. "Don't worry," Empty platitudes coming out instead, "We'll be okay, you two just rest up." Before ducking out, not giving her the chance to respond.

Madison blinked as he disappeared, "Right..."

But as she looked out her window towards the distant sea, she wasn't so sure.

. . .

While the others were still at the hospital, Shamanmon waited patiently in the nearby park where Cody had told him to hide out. Poking his head out of the bushes occasionally to see if the person he heard approaching was indeed his partner.

"AAAAGH! There's some weirdo in the bushes!"

So far however, all he'd managed to do was startle a number of joggers.

"Hmm..." Shamanmon pouted, slumping against a tree as he waited. "So bored..."

"Tell me."

"AAGH!" It was Shamanmon's turn to jump as a familiar voice sounded above him. Stumbling away from the tree, he turned to see Darcmon staring back down at him. "Uh... What?"

"Tell me how a Digimon like yourself ended up being chosen." She ordered simply.

Shamanmon scratched the top of his head, "I don't know, it just kind of... Happened." He shrugged, "One day I was getting kicked- I mean," He shifted nervously, "I was leaving my tribe to begin big adventure in the digital world!" He assured with a grin, "Then, there was a light, and I felt myself being drawn here." Before he added, "And then there was angry angel lady attacking me."

"Right, sorry about that." Darcmon admitted, shifting in her seat among the branches. "So, you were uh... I mean, you chose to leave your people to come here?"

"Yeah..." Shamanmon nodded, turning and looking out into the park. "To be honest... Never really fit in with other Goblimon, didn't like that I was so smart, always wanted to fight and fight and fight." He shook his head, "Just trying to find out who is strongest, or to become strongest, bad place... Wanted to go visit Machines over mountains, they always seemed nice, not so much fighting."

Causing her to quirk an eyebrow, "Isn't fighting what you're doing now?" She asked, "In fact, that's how you digivolved."

Shamanmon turned back to her with a somewhat troubled expression, "Well... I think its because of these humans."

Causing her to blink, "What do you mean?"

He had to think about it for a moment, scratching his head. "When I met Cody, when he saved me from you... I knew he was strong." He explained, "Not because he stood up to you, but because he protected me without knowing anything about me."

"Hmm, and here I chalked it up to overconfidence." Darcmon noted, rolling her eyes. "I've seen humans do it before, too stupid to know when they're in over their head." She scoffed, shaking her head. "Nothing heroic about arrogance." Before looking back at Shamanmon, noting his rather intense expression, and realizing she may have said too much.

"I've seen arrogance," The goblin digimon replied firmly. "My tribe, arrogant, Ogremon, arrogant, chest pounding, trying to look tough." Before he huffed, shaking his head. "Humans different, not just Cody," He added, slashing a hand through the air. "When he was scared, he still stood up to you and the Coelamon, when Maddie was scared, she still saved her partner!" He declared with intensity. "Humans aren't like us... They can't shoot fire or fly, they break easily but still-" He shook his head, returning a fierce look up at her, "They are strong in their own way, the real way! And I..." His gaze fell to his hands, "I want to protect that."

A convincing, and uncharacteristically passionate and thoughtout response, "Perhaps I've misjudged this one." She noted, before nodding her head. "I want to protect them too."

Maybe she was too quick to judge, but Darcmon still had her doubts about these allies of theirs...

. . .

The four departed the hospital together, stepping out into the area outside. The roads were packed with cars from the evacuation under way, despite most of this area being outside the projected danger zone many were clearing out just to be safe so there was a veritable chaos unfolding.

"So you guys going home?" Samantha questioned, looking between them.

Thomas waved her off, "My home is two states away, I'm gonna head to the battle ground and see if I can't pick up on the frequency early."

Kai quirked an eyebrow at him. "You aren't even going to call your family to let them know?" He asked curiously, "Could be your last chance."

"That, my friend, is a fatalist mind set." Thomas retorted quickly, "I am full confidence in our Digimon, and my own skills, to figure this out."

Cody scoffed, "Well I'm glad someone's confident..."

"Well I am returning to my home," Kai said simply, "To speak with my family and maybe pray to the ancestors for luck."

"In any case, meet at the boardwalk in a few hours." Thomas nodded, before rolling off on his own. His partner, who had been waiting outside the hospital in some bushes, jumped out to follow him.

Kai began walking away as well, "See you then." Heading his own way as well.

Leaving Samantha and Cody behind at the entrance, the two standing there for a moment before the dark skinned young woman remarked, "So you aren't gonna head home? Make any phone calls to family?"

"Hell no," Cody waved her off, "Last thing I need is my granny worrying herself sick over me, and my brother is such a dumbass he'd probably roll his wheel chair out here to try and help." He scoffed, "The less they know the better..." Before he noticed Sam had a strange smirk on her face, "What? What the hell you giving me that look for?"

"It's just kinda funny," She shrugged, "You come off as a rude thug at first sight, but you're actually a really thoughtful guy."

"Ngh!" Cody stiffened, before doing as he usually does and raising his voice. "What the hell is that supposed to mean!?" He demanded, waving a fist around, "What a guy can't be tough and also thoughtful!? Looks can be deceiving you know?!"

Making her laugh at his reaction, holding her sides for a moment. "And you're pretty sensitive too, but that's not a bad thing." Before she started walking along the sidewalks.

Realizing that blowing up would only result in more teasing, Cody dialed it back as he followed her. "Tch, whatever..." Looking away towards the bustling crowds, "So what about you huh?" He asked, cheeks still a little flushed. "You gonna run home to your family or give someone a call?"

But she simply shrugged, "Nope, only family I've got is Darcmon."

"Oh," Cody blinked, "Uh... Sorry to hear that."

But she held up a hand, "Don't be, it's no big deal." She stated simply, "It's just been me and Darcmon for a long time now, of course back then she was just Kyaromon."

"Wait," Cody stopped, "How long have you had your partner?"

To which Sam smirked, "Since I was born, almost twenty years ago."

"That's insane," Cody muttered, "Digimon have been appearing in this world for two decades and nobody's noticed?"

"Well, I never said that..." Sam looked back at him, giving a playful wink with her silver eyes before continuing on her way.

Leaving him to wonder just what she meant by that. But as he stood their thinking about it, another thought crossed his teen mind. Causing his cheeks to blush lightly.

"She... She thinks I'm thoughtful huh?"

. . .

"Kai!" Kotemon exclaimed as the doors to the main hall opened, the young man stepping through to see both his partner and Sakura sitting nearby. "How did it go?"

"We've got a plan, at least." He stated, "Where is everyone?" Kai questioned, noting that they weren't here waiting.

"We're within range of the evacuation order," Sakura explained, frowning, "They went on ahead, I said I'd catch up after you returned."

Kai nodded, "Right, well you'd best go join them, things are likely going to get dangerous here." Walking past her and heading for his room to grab a few things.

She hesitated for a moment, watching him walk by. "Are you... Sure that you and the others are up to this?"

Causing him to pause, looking back at her. "We don't really have much choice do we? If we do nothing a lot of people could get hurt." He said simply.

Sakura nodded in understanding, before smiling sadly as she looked back towards Kotemon. "Funny, after that night and learning about you and your partner... I thought maybe you'd been able to break free from a predetermined path..." Before looking back to Kai, "But it seems you're still on a path someone else has chosen for you."

"Perhaps..." Kai replied calmly, "But at least on this path, I can fight for more than just my family."

"Well, in any case..." Sakura walked closer to him, taking his hand in hers as she gave him a soft smile. "I hope you win that fight."

Kai gave her hand a firm squeeze, nodding his head. "I will."

Because losing wasn't an option.

. . .

After leaving Cody behind, Samantha made her way towards her partner who was resting not far from where they were all supposed to meet up later. Hands stuffed in the pockets of her jeans as she neared the angelic digimon. Staring out over the ocean, watching the various naval vessels patrolling the waters no doubt waiting for something, anything to appear.

"So," She turned and looked up at Darcmon on her perch, "What do you think our chances are?"

The champion digimon tapped the end of her staff, before answering simply, "Much better than if we were to fight alone."

"Heh, no kidding." Same smirked in response, "But still... I'd be lying if I said I didn't have any doubts."

"As do I." Darcmon's heels clicked against the ground as she landed beside her partner. "But if you do not believe in them, then believe in me." She said, placing a hand on her shoulder. "I will not allow any harm to come to you or this world."

"What's gotten into her?" She wondered, before smiling back at her partner. "And I'll have your back, no matter what."

In that moment, before they could continue their heart to heart, Samantha's Digivice began to beep loudly. It was like an alarm, similar to what happened when Tsukaimon digivolved. She pulled it out of her pocket immediately, fearing what might be on it. Before her eyes widened, the sounds of ship sirens blaring in the distance.

"Th-This doesn't make any sense!" She exclaimed, seeing the number of red dots lighting up the map just off the coast. "I thought we had more time its only 3:30!?"

Darcmon narrowed her eyes sharply, "Warn the others! I'll do what I can to protect those that haven't evacuated yet!" Spreading her wings and taking flight, racing off towards the coastline before Samantha could argue.

. . .

Screens were flashing red throughout the main operations room, staff members rushing back and forth with reports and information while Arthur Grayson clenched his fists.

"Dammit... How did we not see this coming?" He cursed, gritting his teeth. "Using temporary breaches to release a Vanguard force before the main doorway opens... We've underestimated the enemy."

"Sir, the kids are on the move." One of the staff members announced, bringing up their positions on the map.

"Lets hope they can pull this off, for all our sakes..."
