Arrogance and Ignorance, Misty's Tale
Chapter 2
Never Been so Bare
Misty got home late that night as Gary had asked her to stay until the snow lessened. When she got home she put all of her pokemon back into their pokeballs. She unpacked her shopping and put all of it away and then crashed on the couch in her living room.
Misty woke up to the smell of coffee and the smell of burning toast. Hang on, why was her toast burning, why was there even any toast on? She pulled herself off the couch and stretched a little, she had a crick in her neck from the way she slept on the arm of the couch and her legs were stiff from crunching them up.
"I see you finally found it time enough to get yourself up and run this Gym" Said a voice coming from the kitchen. Misty was so startled she took a step back and fell over the couch. She had definitely hurt her bottom on the floorboards, but other than that she managed to come out of the situation on top. The sudden fall made her forget about the someone making breakfast in her kitchen and she went into her room to get clothes for a shower.
Misty finished having a shower and realised she had left her clothes in her room and she had no towel to wrap around her. Damn it! She quickly unlocked the bathroom door and started to walk briskly in the direction of her room.
"Breakfast is ready, I see you think you can take time in the…." Gary stood there with a tray in his hands and his mouth hanging wide open. Misty took a second to realise what it was he was gawking at and then remembered she wasn't wearing any clothes and didn't have a towel wrapped around her. Her cheeks went bright red and she quickly bolted towards the nearest room she could find.
The room Misty had darted in turned out to be her closet, which she was currently doing renovations on. There was nothing there to cover her either. Gary started calling out to her and asking her if she was ok, but he wasn't being sympathetic, he was being rude and insulting, he had just seen her naked! Misty had never felt so ashamed, she stood there naked in front of him, she knew what it meant to feel bare in front o someone, but having it be so literally, it wasn't as easily stomached.
"Go away Gary, just don't come back either…Get lost you creep!" She yelled at him between his comments about her figure and her nice…chest! If he was going to be this way, so insulting and uncalled for, then she didn't want anything to do with him.
"Fine, I will, was a fool for believing you'd be capable of human feelings or emotion towards anyone other than Ash" Misty heard Gary yell as she heard one of her doors slam.
Misty stayed in that closet for another two hours just to be sure that Gary had gone before she emerged and went to her bedroom to get her clothes. She dressed and did her hair before she went and got her pokemon and let them out for their daily exercise. Meanwhile all she could think about was how Gary had seen her naked, she was so bare in front of Gary. That was a site she was reserving for someone special, someone like…well, someone like Ash.
A couple of Gym battles into the day only confirmed for Misty that the snow last night was obviously meant for someone else, someone with more luck than she had ever had.
She thought of how Gary had seen her…she could hardly bring herself to say it that way anymore, but, without clothes, and the look on his face when he did. But as she thought about his face she sort of blurred in her mind and she could see his face and she had gone to kiss him the night before, so honest and so pure. She couldn't believe she had gone to kiss him, but then again, she still wondered somewhere in the dark depths of her mind what it would be like if she did. Would she had of enjoyed it, or would she have gone and vommitted afterwards?
Misty let her mind get back to reality for a minute and smelled something burning, what was it?
"My Dinner!" Misty yelled as she turned the stove off as quickly as she could, she had just wasted food, all because she was thinking about Gary again…
"Gary again? Since when do I think about Gary in the first place, it's always Ash" She mumbled to herself as she threw away the burnt food.
She looked into the bin at the burnt food and felt her stomach rumble. She then looked at the clock; it was already 7pm, which meant she had heaps of time to go to the local cafe for tea. She grabbed her wallet and her bag and headed for the Café, it was a short walk so she could make it by foot and wouldn't have to pay Taxi fares.
The café was warm inside and the staff were bustling about, seemed like the snow had really made people want to eat out, all of the window seats in the café were taken. Misty put in an order and sat in the back corner with her maril at her side. She soaked up the atmosphere, people here that didn't care about anything other than themselves and their own problems, no one there was interested in her life and that was exactly how she liked it. But Ash, poor Ash, the whole world was interested in him and how he felt and what he was doing. Misty sighed at the thought, but she guessed he would be happier that way, he had fulfilled his dream, and her, well she had never really had much of a dream. The only thing that came close to a dream with Misty was the thought of being with Ash, or going adventuring again.
The waiter brought Misty her dinner and walked off in a snooty fashion. Misty stuck her tongue out at him as he walked off and maril rolled around with laughter. The noise in the café was enough to almost block out anyone talking, but it didn't manage to block out Misty's thoughts when Gary strode in to the Café.
The way he walked up to the counter and started chatting up the bartender woman shamelessly made Misty want to bring up her dinner all over this nice clean floor. Misty went red in the face, but whether it was from embarrassment or anger she wasn't sure.
Anger? Why would she be angry? Could it be that maybe she had become a little…NO! She was not about to convince herself she was jealous of someone like that. No that smirk, that arrogant and ignorant walk, those unforgivably gorgeous eyes…. WHAT? Was she going insane, since when did she think that. Misty's mind had been thinking for her all day today, slipping in thoughts about Gary that she had never thought, or wanted, to have existed.
Misty forced herself to keep her face down facing the table, and made sure that she didn't look up at Gary, she didn't want to make herself jealous for no reason. She simply ate what was left of her dinner and soaked up the atmosphere, well most of it, she tried not to soak in too much of Gary's closeness.
OoO
Gary took one last look over at Misty; she hadn't looked at him once since he had entered this stupid Café, which he had followed her to. He just wanted her to loo at him, god. It wasn't like he wanted her to do that much. But she remained with her head down and her face being filled with food.
Gary just watched her for a minute more, and then exited the Café. He couldn't stand to see her and have her completely ignorant and oblivious to the fact that he was even there. He wasn't that repulsive, was he?
Gary shoved his hands into his pockets and stomped off down the street, when he came to the local pub he decided to have a drink, one couldn't hurt. Nope, one couldn't, but he was going to drown Misty out of his mind!
OoOMisty looked up finally and to her relief, Gary was gone, even though a small part of her was yelling out to her that she should have gone up and…And what? What was it that she should do? Her inner voice just laughed at her as if she knew what it was she really wanted to do. Musty pushed the voice to a dark crevice of her mind, it could argue with the other voice that said she loved Ash.
The waiter gave Misty a slip of paper, which she took for her bill. She picked it up and prepared herself for the price. But when she looked at the paper, it only said…
Your meal has been paid for, please leave, as you are ready to. The Lounge Café.
Misty looked at the note mysteriously, and then grabbed maril and bolted out of the Café. It was getting late, it was already 9pm and she needed to get home before it started to snow really badly. She held tightly to maril as she ran along the slippery path towards her Gym.
Misty shook off the snow that she had on her coat. More of this snow? Well someone was going to get a really big change she thought to herself miserably. She just couldn't bring herself to happy for anyone; she just wanted things to change for her, why couldn't they change for her?
She put maril and the other pokemon to bed, and then got into a nice warm bath. She just wanted to soak in the bath and let herself soothe. But before she could fully relax she heard a banging on her door. She thought about totally ignoring it, but the knocking reverberated through the entire gym and was going to wake up her pokemon and annoy her anyway. She quickly draped herself in a thin silk robe, which was the first thing she found.
Misty practically ran down the stairs to get to the door. One her way she checked the large grandfather clock in the lounge room. It was 1am already! She had never thought she had spent so much time getting the pokemon to bed. Who would be at her door at 1am?
Misty ran to the door and hugged herself as she opened the door. She almost yelled at whomever it was that was banging on her door at this time of night, but as she looked out into the blizzard of a night she realised who it was.
