Arrogance and Ignorance, Misty's Tale
Chapter 6
To the Ocean
Misty realised she had been losing concentration a lot and that she just wasn't paying attention. She realised she wasn't being the best girlfriend by totally ignoring D every time he started talking to her. She grabbed a jacket and her keys and a few pokeballs.
"Starmie go!" She said softly. A red beam came from the pokeball and starmie materialised in front of Misty. She pet the starmie and jumped on it's back.
"You coming too pikachu?" She said softly to the yellow mouse. Pikachu jumped onboard the starmie and Misty told it to hold on tight as starmie floated out the window and hovered down the side of the house and safely landed on the ground.
It brought back memories doing that. Seeing as the gym had two stories her sisters always used to put her on the second story so she couldn't sneak out. But she had starmie, who was a staryu at the time; help her out the window and down the side of the house. Starmie couldn't fly, but it could hover pretty high, which meant it made a smooth sort of glide down to the ground from the roof of the gym.
Misty held on as starmie floated around to the back of the gym and into a forest area that was there. Misty jumped off when they were far enough away from the gym so that no one would hear her as she tried to get away from the gym. She smiled to herself and pet starmie and returned it to its pokeball; they were almost there so she didn't really have to worry about pokemon attacking her.
A weedle came out of the bushes and Misty almost shrieked. Pikachu could almost feel her fright she assumed because it jumped to the ground and called down a bolt of thunder that made the weedle faint. Misty hugged the pokemon and ran quickly through the woods, the last thing she wanted was to be attacked by a bug again.
Misty pushed the last set of bushes out of her way to reveal a beautiful lake filled with lots of water pokemon she had befriended since becoming gym leader. No one knew of this beautiful lake but her, and anyone that wasn't her that came close to this place was bombarded by the water pokemon she knew that lived here.
As Misty walked out into the water the pokemon greeted her. She took off her jacket and clothes and threw them onto the shore and waded into the lake with nothing on. The water was lovely and warm for some reason; it always was. She dived under the water and swam further out. By now she could see well under water without goggles or other help. She released her pokemon under the water and as she did some of them swam with her.
Misty swam further out and dratini swam along beside her. The water was so warm and inviting, it surrounded her and filled her. She was wrapped in this blanket of warmth and all of her worries were washed away with the tide. She went up for air and saw all of the water pokemon playing together and having a good time. She dived deeper under the water, right to the bottom. Dratini, goldeen, vaporeon, gyarados and dewgong swam with her as they swam through the lake together.
This was the only time Misty got to be free, got to be with her pokemon and be like one of them. She played with the dewgong and chased the dratini and vaporeon as they played their games. Gyarados swam around them happily as he did not really fit in the gym pool very well.
Misty surfaced again and called on her blastoise. Thee large turtle swam up to her and took her to shore. Pikachu looked relieved to see her, it couldn't swim like she could. It couldn't stay in the water too long or it would short circuit itself and probably die. The thought made Misty sad, as she loved the time she spent with her water pokemon in this lake. She got dressed and picked up pikachu.
"Come on pikachu, let's go further out, as far out as we can go, maybe to the ocean, lets go" She said to the pokemon, when it nodded she turned to the other pokemon in the lake "Will you all come with me, we can all go and see what it is like together!" The pokemon cheered and Misty grabbed her jacket and, with pikachu on her shoulder, she hopped onto blastoise back.
I don't care about the gym tonight, tonight I go to the ocean, tonight I go home…

Gary trudged up to the doors of the gym and knocked loudly hoping that Misty would still be awake. This would be the second time he had done this to her, arrived late at night and expected her to take him in. This time at least he had at least half a reason; he was here for pikachu.
"That's what you keep telling yourself, but you know hat you are here for something else as well" Gary admitted angrily to himself as he knocked loudly on the glass doors of the gym. The last thing Gary had expected to see was Brock at the door starring at him inquisitively.
"What are you doing here?" Brock said to Gary. It was meant to be a greeting, but Gary had spent enough time around spiteful people to hear even the slightest hints of irritation and any other sort of angered emotion.
"I could ask you the same question" Gary almost hit himself when he said that without thinking, and Brock said exactly what Gary knew he was going to.
"I'm Misty's friend and I am her guest, what's your excuse?" Brock said raising his eyebrow and his level of irritation Gary sensed.
"I'm here to see Misty" Gary said as arrogantly as he could manage. Gary saw Brock's facial expression change dramatically, it seemed he was almost gong to growl.
"What, you don't think you hurt her or offended her enough the last time you were here; turning up drunk and making her bawl her eyes out. She hasn't been the same since and somehow it's your fault. Just turn around and leave now Oak…" Brock was almost yelling by the end of it. Gary was taken aback at the fact he had made her cry somehow, she had only ever cried twice that he ever knew of; once when she left Ash, and the time near the lake when she had nearly kissed him.
"Don't you think you should let Misty decide whether I should see her or not?" Gary said in a cocky tone.
"Not at all" Brock said as he all but slammed the door and walked off into the gym somewhere. Gary went around the back of the gym and released haunter.
"Boy go see if Misty is home" For some reason Gary felt as though she wasn't there, he had missed her so much that he assumed he would feel better the closer he got to her. But Gary didn't feel any better and somehow he felt like she wasn't any closer than she was before when he was in Pallet. The feeling of longing for her was making him sick, right now he was being swallowed by an emotion he had never had to deal with, and he wasn't getting any closer to figuring out why if she wasn't even at the gym.
After an hour haunter returned to where Gary was and informed him that she wasn't there. Gary smiled gladly at the fact that there was a window open and that he had brought his onyx with him. He called out the large rocky pokemon and climbed up its' body to the roof of the gym. Gary then walked carefully across the tiles making sure not to bump any of them and make them go sliding off the roof. He jumped in through the window and looked around to see that he was in Misty's room.
"What are you doing in here!" Cried a tall tanned guy standing in the doorway. Gary heard footsteps as someone came running up the stairs and into the bedroom.
"What have you done with Misty?" The guy cried out at Gary. Gary ran a hand through his hair and shook his head.
"I've done jack shit with Misty, I came here looking for her and Brock wouldn't let me in. she's not here though, she's gone…" Gary said sternly. Brock and the man turned to each other and were talking to each other frantically in whispers. Gary took the opportunity to call out his pigeot and fly out the window. Brock and whoever the hell that dude was were yelling at him out the window. Gary looked back and smirked. But the smirk was soon gone when that dude was right next to him on a fearow.
"You better not have touched or hurt my girlfriend I swear to god!" That dude yelled to him from the other bird's back. For a moment Gary had thought his heart stopped, but that was probably because that dude had just nearly knocked him off his pigeot and onto the ground miles below them.
"If there was anything I did to her, it was before you two started dating anyway!" Gary said trying to smirk but making a stupid face instead due to the wind pressure on his face.
"What makes you say that you lying bastard?" The other guy yelled at him as they circled the air never breaking eye contact.
"Cause she couldn't really like you if you guys were going out then, cause she tried to kiss me!" Gary said glaring at the other guy with what he had intended to be a look of evil, but it turned out he just looked enraged, what was going on?
But when Gary got a look at the other guy he realised he wasn't the only one who looked a little pissed off. The other guy was fuming, Gary expected to see steam coming out of his ears.
"Keep your hands off Misty, she is mine!" The other guy said angrily as he came soaring at Gary on his fearow.
"She cried over me, I don't think she really is yours!" That wasn't entirely true, but this guy obviously didn't care for the truth, he just wanted a fight. Pigeot caused a gust with its' powerful wings and sent the other guy and his fearow spiralling to the ground. Gary forced pigeot to fly off as fast as it could; he needed to find Misty. No one knew where she was; she could be in danger!
Please be safe…

Misty and the other pokemon were all happily playing around and having fun as they cruised through the watery lake. There was forest on both sides of the lake so no one really saw this place. The lake surface shone with the reflection of the moon and the stars, but the ripples of the pokemon and gym leader having so much fun disturbed it.
All the smaller pokemon were swimming and playing tag, while some were doing tricks to amuse Misty and Pikachu. Misty called over starmie and staryu.
"Surfs up pikachu!" She said as she jumped onto starmies' back and it started to glide through the water almost like a surfboard. Misty turned to see pikachu doing the same with staryu. She smiled to see that they were both happy and doing something they enjoyed. She started to see more pokemon doing it as well; blastoise had many of the smaller pokemon on his back and dratini glided through the water with vaporeon on its' back, as gyarados did with a squirtle, wartortle, tododile, and mudkip on it's back.
"Alrighty then, how bout this then" She called out to them all. "Everyone together use the move tidal wave then jump on and ride that wave all the way out, we are almost there!" The pokemon did as she asked and created a humungous wave that they were all surfing on top of. They were way up in the sky and Misty felt as though she was flying with her passion. Pikachu jumped onto her shoulder and they both held their arms out as if they were going to fly.
The wind against her face and in her hair and the spray of the sea water, and not to mention her passion for water pokemon surrounding her, she was right at home soaring through the skies on a giant wave of pokemon and water.
They got closer to the ocean and they could all see it. Misty smiled as she looked out and saw the sun coming up and the open ocean coming closer. "alrighty everyone, hold on! This wave is about to come down!" Misty yelled out, and sure enough, she was right. The huge wave started to go lower and Misty got that feeling where her stomach felt like it was rising and the rest of her body was going down; it made her laugh with delight. All the pokemon called out and cheered as they all went crashing down into the ocean. Misty held onto pikachu for dear life as they all plummeted into the water for the fun of things. Starmie pulled them up out of the water soon enough though and pikachu and Misty were fine.
Misty and the other pokemon swam further out though, far enough out that they could look back and only just see the shore. Misty breathed in the salt air that she missed so much. With pikachu sitting on her shoulders, water pokemon surrounding her, the ocean surrounding them all and the salty ocean spray covering them and drawing them further out Misty finally felt content. She could feel and think nothing else but ocean air and cool water.
"Misty!" Came a voice familiar to Misty. She was sure she would have put a name to it if she weren't so wrapped up in the ocean. She turned and looked around but she couldn't see anything. Just ocean for miles around, she was beginning to think she was imagining things; just when she felt content too!
"Misty, up here!" called the voice again. Misty spun around and stared up to see Gary waving to her from the back of his pigeot. In spite of herself, she smiled and waved back. Gary came soaring down to her level on the pigeot and let in sort of fly there above the water.
"I went to the gym but you weren-"
"Sshh!" Misty said to him as she pointed out to the sun, which hadn't fully risen yet. "I just want to see one sunrise and not think that today will be another miserable day" She said to him her back facing him. Pikachu sat on her shoulder watching intently as well. She heard the movement of wings behind her and she turned around to see Gary and pigeot were gone. But then somehow Gary picked her up and placed her on pigeot's back.
"You will get a better view from up here, hold on!" He said to her. She wrapped her arms around his waist and held on tight and saw that below them the water pokemon were moving out to sea with them. The soared out further and up higher until everything below them was microscopical. The only thing that matter up here, that existed up here was pikachu, pigeot, Misty, Gary, the open sky and the beautiful sunrise.
They all watched as the sun broke away from the water and became a blazing ball of beauty reflected in the large pool of serenity; Misty felt at ease. Soon after gary took them down, not uite that fast as he told Misty he didn't want her throwing up on him; Misty just smiled at the comment and could see the smirk on his face despite the fact that she was hugging his back and trying not to fall off the pigeot. The got down to the water pokemon and Misty saw how happy they were. She had a tear in her eye when she thought about what it was she had to do.
"My pokemon and I are going home, back to where we have to be, but you guys have no obligation to go, you guys can stay out her and live in this peaceful light forever. I will miss you all though" Misty was crying when she said it and a lot of the pokemon were too. Misty jumped onto blastoise back and urged the pokemon to head back to the shore so they could go through the river to the lake where they had to be. She didn't want to turn around, she didn't want to leave them all behind, but she had to turn around and wave good-bye.
Misty turned around and saw all the pokemon laughing and playing as they all followed her on their way back home, back to where they would forever be left alone. Misty smiled happily at them and reminded herself hat she always had somewhere to go if she ever felt alone now. They would make the trip again, this wasn't their last time. Gary flew on announcing that he had things he had to attend to back in Cerulean. Misty and the others just cruised back to the lake at their own dreary sort of pace. Misty hadn't realised how tired she was as she lay down on blastoise back and curled up with pikachu and went to sleep. But before she slid off into a deep sleep she thought…
I am really water pokemon master; I have finally accomplished what I had always dreamed to do. So I really did want something before I wanted Ash, I do have a life of my own! No one can ever take that away from me…
Well that was it, don't forget to review so that i know what you think and where you would like the story to go. Thanks for reading and hope you continue to do so. Thanks, and onto chapter 7.
