Hello to anyone reading this story! This has been something I've wanted to do for a while now. But with me having trouble updating my other stories as is, and the fact that there are so few stories about Terraria on this site, let alone the calamity mod, I debated whether it was worth it to post this story. But when it came down to it, this is something I really wanted to do, and I just couldn't put it off any more. If you are coming from one of my other stories, don't worry, I'm still going to update them, I'm just having trouble with ideas. Given that it's the prologue, the first chapter is going to be rather short, but don't worry, the next chapter will be out soon!

Calamitas was starting to worry. This terrarian was impossibly strong. Barring Yharim, she was the most powerful being in existence! Not even gods could contest her might! And yet, this terrarian was pushing her to her limit.

She was currently in her monstrous eyeball form, engaged in light speed combat with the one terrarian who had the might to oppose her.

"I'm just getting started!" She screamed. Calamitas had decided. If she wanted to defeat this terrarian, she would need to go all out. Explosions of brimstone flames echoed around them as calamitas Began her all out assault. The gigantic brimstone monsters that the witch had summoned earlier in their legendary fight picked up the speed in which they were chasing the terrarian. The sky rained brimstone flames. Calamitas fired lasers that could pierce through gods with ease. And still, the terrarian was managing to hang on.

As Calamitas continued pushing the terrarian back, she began to reflect. Why was she putting so much effort into this fight to begin with? Of course there was the obvious answer that if she lost, she would surely be slain. But what did she have to live for? She was but a puppet to the jungle tyrant's whim. She hated Yharim, but she had learned the consequences of rebelling against him long ago. The scar across her face reminded her of that every day. At the end of the day, she wanted Yharim dead just as much as this terrarian, perhaps even more so.

Calamitas was broken from her musings by a grunt of pain. One of her soul seekers had managed to hit her opponent. While the terrarian was stunned, several more devastating attacks managed to hit them. Calamitas realized that this was her opportunity, her opponent was weakened and low on healing potions. She had the perfect opportunity to put yharim's rival down for good.

But something held her back from doing so. This terrarian, she realized, had the potential to do what she could not. They had the potential to end Yharim's reign over Terraria.

Calamitas was torn between two options. Destroy the terrarian here and continue living her miserable existence, or allow the terrarian to beat her and give them the opportunity to beat Yharim himself, at the expense of her being slain and enduring what she could only assume would be eternal suffering for her sins.

Neither option was really desirable, but when she put some thought into it, the decision became rather obvious. She owed it to all of Terraria to allow a true hero to vanquish the jungle tyrant who had caused so much pain. She owed it to her family, who she knew would be horrified at what she had done after their demise. Hell, she owed it to herself to finally allow her mortal suffering to end.

Calamitas was wounded enough that a powerful enough strike from the terrarian's sword would be able to slay her in her more vulnerable humanoid form. Which was why the terrarian was confused when the brimstone witch ceased her assault and reverted to her normal state. Despite their confusion, they couldn't allow such a golden opportunity to go to waste. They readied their murasama, and wasted no time in piercing their opponents chest. Calamitas gasped in pain as she felt the legendary blade go through her. But despite this, she managed a smile.

"Thank… you. Finish… what I could not. Beat that bastard Yharim and bring… peace back to Terraria."

Calamitas could not see the terrarian's expression through their helmet, but the two words they uttered were relief enough to her.

"I will."

The terrarian tore the blade from her gut, and with the last of her strength failing her, The brimstone witch of godly power fell to the scorched landscape below, lifeless.

Calamitas regained consciousness in a black void. Confused at why she wasn't greeted with the sight of hell, she looked around, trying to find anything other than an inky blackness. Eventually, her vision came upon a sight that terrified her more than a thousand Yharims could.

"F-father?!"

"Calamitas, as you go by now?"

"Father, I'm so sorry! If I had just controlled my anger when those villagers took you, mother, and my brothers from me, Yharim would not have been able to manipulate me! I would not have committed all of the atrocities that I have! I have no right to be your daughter! I'm nothing more than a monster who has killed millions without a second thought."

"That's quite enough. It is true that you have committed an unspeakable amount of atrocities, and none of us are willing to forgive you just yet."

Calamitas only looked down, utter shame written on her face.

"However, you allowed your own life to be taken for the greater good, and it is clear that you only feel remorse and disgust at your actions. Which is why the higher powers have decided that your time is not yet up."

"What? What are you talking about father? You mean that those in charge of life and death have decided that someone as horrible as me deserves a second chance at life? Surely there's been some mistake?"

"There is no mistake, it was decided that you should have the opportunity to capitalize on your selfless deed and see whether you are deserving of redemption or not."

"Truly?! In that case, I shall devote myself to obtaining the power to defeat Yharim."

"Not so fast. I said that you would be reincarnated, but I never said it would be in Terraria. You are going to be sent to a world where you can learn to protect the helpless, and become someone that I can be proud to call my daughter."

"What? But what if Yharim? What if that terrarian isn't enough to defeat him?"

"Calamitas, that is no longer of your concern. Your second chance is about to begin. Do not disappoint me."

Calamitas sighed. When she heard she was to be reincarnated, she was excited to have a shot at bringing the jungle tyrant down. But if she had a chance to redeem herself in her family's eyes, then she'd be damned if she didn't take it.

"I understand. I will not let you down father."

Calamitas' father said nothing, only looked on as his daughter returned to the land of the living.
