Welcome to chapter 2! This is where the crossover truly begins. Thank you for the follows and favorites! I wasn't honestly expecting to get any for a while lol. This chapter Is mostly about Calamitas' first interactions in the new world she finds herself in. Now, as is customary for all of my stories, I shall respond to any reviews or questions!
Pomp-neigh: Thanks man! Personally, I thought that the first chapter was lacking a bit. I may go back and touch it up a bit.
Reviews and criticism are always welcome, and I look forward to hearing from you!
Calamitas awoke in a dense forest. It wasn't exactly a rare biome in Terraria, but something about this area felt different. The brimstone witch sat up, stretching.
"Ugh, it feels like I just slept for a week. Now, I suppose I should get a better grasp of my surroundings."
Calamitas flew above the forest canopy. While she wasn't quite as diverse in the arcane arts as Yharim or the ancient doomsayer, she was still capable of flight. She immediately spotted a sight that made her rub her eyes to make sure she wasn't seeing things. A few miles away lay a sprawling city.
"Incredible! I haven't seen a settlement so large since my... visit... to the underworld's capital! Those buildings are simply massive! Well, I suppose I should head over there and see if I can acquire some knowledge on this world."
Calamitas sped towards the city, arriving in mere seconds. What was hypersonic speeds to most was more of a leisurely pace to her.
"My, it's even more gigantic up close! How can people navigate someplace so large?"
As the brimstone witch trekked further into the city, a scream rang out near to her.
"Monster!"
Looking around confusedly to try and see what had everyone so scared all of a sudden, she noticed that people were backing away from her.
'What? But that's impossible! My reputation can't have transcended dimensions already, could it?!'
"W-what are you talking about?!"
"Don't play dumb! With those horns, tail, and grey skin, how could you not be a monster?"
'Oh.'
Calamitas had noticed that the inhabitants of this world bore a striking similarity to terrarians. And while her appearance was very abnormal by terrarian standards, she hadn't expected such an extreme reaction.
"I promise, I have no intention of harming any of you. If you could just let me explain myself-"
"As if! As soon as we let our guard down, you'll just kill us! A hero's probably been called to take care of you by now anyway."
'Hero? What are they talking about?'
Calamitas was about to press her case, but another scream rang out.
"Help! Anyone! Someone call a hero!"
Calamitas and the crowd looked behind them to see a woman being assaulted by a wolf like beast. It appeared that it had taken advantage of the people being distracted and snuck up to her.
"Bwahahah! You'll make for a delectable meal! I'll skin you with my claws and pick your bones clean!"
While the other people screamed and ran away, Calamitas wasted no time in grabbing the helpless woman and pulling her out of the wolf monster's grasp.
"Hey, what the hell do you think you're doing, huh? Go find your own prey! I'm gonna have to kill you now that you've gotten in my way!"
Calamitas scoffed. "As if I'd just sit back and allow you to kill that poor woman."
She realized she was being extremely hypocritical. She had slaughtered thousands who had taken up the same role she was, but that didn't matter now. She wanted to be different, and this was a great time to start.
"Hah! What's up with you? A monster trying to play hero? Ridiculous! But regardless, you stand no chance against me. I loved wolfs so much I turned into one! I'm Alpha Fang!"
"That's a dumb name."
"Shut your mouth bitch! Apex Slash!"
Alpha Fang swung his razor sharp claws towards Calamitas, but she grabbed his wrist faster than he could perceive.
"What..?"
Calamitas channeled her brimstone flames through her arms, setting the monster ablaze.
"AAAAAUGH!"
Her flames were far more powerful than normal fire, which was why in a matter of seconds, Alpha Fang was nothing more than a pile of ash.
"Brun in hell, you sorry excuse for a living being."
With the threat dealt with, The Brimstone witch turned her attention back to the woman she saved.
"Are you alright miss?"
"Y-you saved me! But... why? You're a monster!"
Calamitas sighed. That was going to get old quick.
"I can assure you, I am not what you think I am. Now I would get home quick, before more assholes like him show up."
"Y-yeah. But please, Take all the yen I have in my purse! You saved my life, It's the least I could do to repay you."
"Are you sure? You don't have to."
"Please, I insist!"
"Well, thank you miss. I am very grateful."
"Oh, no. Thank you! I have no idea what my husband and son would think if they found out I was dead!"
"Well, I must be going. Be safe."
Calamitas made a hasty retreat from the situation. She really didn't feel like being the center of attention. And given that people were recording the whole situation on what she could only assume were cameras, That's exactly what was going to happen.
As she made her way further into the city, Calamitas started coming across fewer and fewer people. News about what she had done must have gotten out, because no one else called her out on her appearance. They still kept a fair distance away from her, not that she particularly cared what they thought of her.
'Strange. As I go further into the city, it appears to be less inhabited. Did something happen that made them move away?'
After walking a bit further, she came across a locked metal fence with a sign on it. By some miracle, this world had both the same spoken and written language that she knew. Calamitas was confused at that, but chose not to question it.
"Warning, ahead is the abandoned district of city Z. Stay out for your own safety."
Deciding that there was nothing in the area that could pose a threat to her, she ignored the sign and melted the lock.
'An abandoned part of the city will be a perfect place for me to stay. My appearance seems to draw unwanted attention, so until I can get a better understanding of how this new world works, it would be best to stay here.'
Making her way past the gate, Calamitas decided to find a building to stay in for the night. She had noticed that the shy was darkening with clouds, and she didn't particularly feel like sleeping in the rain.
Turning a corner, she found a sight she didn't quite expect. There was a man walking towards her. Apart from the tacky yellow jumpsuit and white cape, he was very ordinary looking. He had a bald head and and a very bored looking expression. He was also carrying a plastic bag with some food in it.
"Excuse me sir, but are you lost?"
The strange man looked at her confused.
"What? No, I live just around the corner. Why would you think I'm lost?"
"Well, It's just that this area is supposed to be abandoned. I didn't think anyone still lived here."
"Well, the rent's real cheap, and there's no one around to bother me, so it felt like a nice enough place to live."
Calamitas debated on whether she should ask the man for shelter. She didn't know what he thought of her, and regardless, she didn't want to impose. A boom from the sky, however, made that decision exceptionally easier.
"Um, I don't mean to impose, but do you know of any sort of shelter I could spend the night in? It's going to rain soon, and I really don't want to get caught in the storm."
The man looked at her for a moment. Calamitas was beginning to think he was going to say no, but then he sighed.
"Well, I don't know anywhere no, but it wouldn't be right to leave someone out in a thunderstorm. I guess you could spend the night at my place. It's not too big, so don't get too exited."
Calamitas smiled at the genuine display of kindness. It was very rare to come across such a thing in her world.
"Thank you for your generosity sir. I don't believe I caught your name."
"Oh, my name is Saitama."
And now Calamitas has met the character that gives the series it's name! I'll get the next chapter out as soon as I can. Once again, questions and criticism are always welcome.
