I'm back! After rereading through this story a bit, I got motivated to continue. Like the anime, the Deep-Sea King mini arc is going to be split into two chapters. This one and the next.
Review Time!
Tehpootisman: Are you talking about Lunaris? If so, that's just the name I gave the Lunatic Cultist. He's not an OC, just has a different name.
StanKK22: I've actually played the new Calamitas boss, and the brothers look phenomenal.
AmiastheDemon1211: It's Saitama, what did you expect?
Guest 1: Yeah, DoG is currently weaker than OPM god. But given the DoG's potential for growth...
Guest 2: Right on the money. Normal Calamitas in game is the clone. Supreme is the real deal.
Nalasys: Thank you for the kind words! I honestly didn't think this story would get much attention being a niche as it is. I'd like to think the reason it's so popular is because of the writing, but that sounds arrogant to say lol.
Guest 3: Thank you so much!
Enjoy the chapter!
Needless to say, the Hero Association was quite shocked to find that they had another S-Class hero after Lunaris signed up.
"They actually seemed rather exasperated when I was interviewed."
Calamitas smirked. "That's most likely because they've gone years without any new S-Class heroes only to have four in a row pop up within a couple weeks."
Lunaris had mostly been living off the land in the woods ever since the meteor incident. When asked about it, he stated that he wanted to get used to the new world they lived in by becoming in tune with its nature. Calamitas didn't really understand it, but she didn't care enough to either.
Kombu had gone off to meet with Dr. Genus to sign up for the Mysterious being HA branch that he had founded aster Calamitas had suggested it. He had gotten bored just lounging around all day so he figured that signing up would make life more interesting.
Genos had been making steady progress with his magic. He was now able to cast low level combat spells and had even picked up minor healing ones. After turning in their reports, Saitama and Calamitas had moved up. Calamitas had become rank 16, and Saitama had become rank 17. Genos had kept his place at rank 18 but was still ahead of Puri Puri Prisoner who had been lowered to last in the class after the event. Since Lunaris had taken part in the event as well, he was placed above Prisoner as well after he joined.
As Lunaris and Calamitas conversed, the door to the apartment was opened by Genos. "Calamitas, Saitama and I are going to city J to investigate a group of monsters that call themselves the clan of the seafolk. Do you wish to come along?"
Calamitas had been trying to drill it into Genos' head to stop calling her master. He was getting better, but still slipped up sometimes.
"Hmm... you know what? I think I'm fine sitting this one out. There's this movie airing later that I've been wanting to see. I'm sure you and Saitama can handle whatever it is."
Genos bowed. "As you wish Ma-Calamitas."
As her disciple closed the door behind him, Calamitas went back to watching TV.
Lunaris glanced over to his companion. "Um, didn't Kombu say he used to be part of the clan of the seafolk?"
Calamitas groaned. "FINE. I'll just record the movie instead. Are you going to come along too?"
"There is no need. The three of you should be more than enough."
"Sure, just make sure to lock the door when you leave. If you need me, I'll be over at Genus' branch."
Genus was tinkering with one of his cloning tanks when Calamitas walked in.
"Oh, miss Calamitas! If you're here to see Kombu, I am afraid he's already left. He seemed rather excited when he heard about the commotion in City J. Mosquito Girl went with him, so she won't be here to annoy you this time thankfully."
"Okay, good. I was just wondering if he knew about what was up. What is that you are working on?"
"Oh, it's my new cloning project. Once I get these machines in working order, I'm going to pitch an idea to the Hero Association. As long as they are willing to give their DNA, I will be able to bring a hero back if they die in combat. This machine will clone their bodies with all of their memories intact."
"That's... an interesting idea."
"You seem to have doubts."
"It's not your abilities that I am worried about, more so the cloning itself. I was cloned once, and it was a disaster. It created a rogue entity with a will outside my own. Albeit it was FAR weaker than I, but it was still considered a failure. It was for the best anyways; it was a failsafe for Yharim in case I ever rebelled against him. Which I did as you know."
"Ah, I can see how that would make you doubtful. Rest assured this process is simply the creation of a new body, with the mind being transferred over."
"Well, as long as you know what you're doing, I see no issue with it. I can't say how the Hero Association will react though."
"Oh I'm well aware I may be shot down. They'll most likely think I'd be trying to clone heroes to work for me and my own agenda. It is simply something I wish to have ready should the need ever arise."
Calamitas gave the machines a once over, before shrugging. "Well luck to you doctor. I'm heading to City J to make sure no one dies. Saitama is there, but knowing him, he'll get distracted or lost or something."
True to Calamitas' prediction, Saitama had gotten separated from Genos and was currently riding on the back of a bicycle.
"So, why are you heading towards the monsters anyway? I heard they defeated a Class S already. Aren't you scared?"
The man pedaling the bicycle sighed. "Terrified. But that doesn't matter. If I can help even a little, I'll do my best."
Saitama smirked. "Hey, you're pretty cool, you know that? What's your name?"
"Heh. The name's Mumen Rider. I'm a hero, like you! That means a lot coming from someone like you."
The two continued to ride further into the city until Saitama saw something in an alley.
"Hey, it looks like there's an unconscious guy back there. I'm gonna go check it out. Go on without me, kay."
"Alright, will do! Good luck, Saitama."
As Saitama went to investigate, Mumen Rider got a buzz on his phone. "What?! The evacuation shelter? I've been going the wrong way!"
Saitama looked down on a naked man lying next to a cracked wall. "Hey, dude. Wake up. You okay?"
The man slowly opened his eyes, and gasped once he came to. "Oh! You're the new boy, Saitama! How embarrassing, to be caught in a state like this!"
"Yeah. Uh, where'd your clothes go dude?"
"That doesn't matter. There's a terrifyingly powerful monster prowling the city that calls itself the Deep Sea King. Even at full power, I couldn't do a thing to him! If you encounter him, don't hold back!"
Saitama got a small smile on his face. "So this guy's strong, huh? Hey, are you able to walk? Should I call an ambulance or something?"
"I'll manage myself. I'd get going if I were you."
Saitama noticed the alert on his HA phone. "The shelter? ah, man I should hurry. Stay safe dude!"
As Saitama rushed off, Puri Puri Prisoner shakily got to his feet. "A nice fellow, but not really my type. That Genos boy on the other hand..."
The Deep Sea King had broken into the evacuation shelter and was smiling like the insane psycho he was. "So much cattle, all huddled up for an easy slaughter! Now, where to begin...?"
All of a sudden, a whip like appendage wrapped itself around the Sea King's throat before whipping him in the air and slamming him down through the floor of the shelter.
"Hey, I'm ready for a rematch, you arrogant Bastard!" Kombu landed in front of the Sea King, whips of seaweed ready for combat."
The Deep Sea King lifted his body out of the small crater with a grunt. "What a delightful surprise! It's the little pissant who challenged my rule! You should have stayed in whatever hole you were hiding in whelp! Now I get to enjoy breaking you in half!"
The people in the evacuation shelter were confused and scared.
"Who is that? Another monster?"
"It looks like they have some sort of rivalry going on."
"Here's hoping they kill each other so we'll be safe."
Ignoring the whispers and fearful mutters behind him, Kombu got ready to face the Deep Sea King yet again, while the oceanic monarch simply grinned maniacally.
I cut out like half the events in this episode because things go mostly the same. The only difference is that Sonic didn't fight DSK because he never got arrested.
