A/N: Was struck by inspiration while reading some good fanfiction and listening to Frou Frou's "Hear Me Out" and then this came to life.
Lying to yourself

"Break my heart and hope to die." Axel mumbles into his chest.
"What?" The room resounds with gasping breaths and heavy breathing.
"Just making a promise to myself…"
"Oh really, about what?" Roxas shudders as fingers tickle at his spine and licks at his stomach.
Axel pauses and quirks a smile, "nothing you need to worry about (I hope)."
And Axel really does hope that nothing changes like how nothing is supposed to. He doesn't like lying to himself, he doesn't like killing traitors, and he definitely doesn't like killing friends. But this time he knows they will work, they will work, they will work.
But the problem is, Roxas is Roxas and he never changes. So now, Axel is besides himself with shadows for friends and memories for lovers.
Why did you have to leave (me) for the keyblade?
Axel hates making promises. But he finds Roxas again nonetheless.
"...I'm supposed to kill you if you don't come back with me." Axel is smiling, and smirking, but dry tears are coming out of dry eyes.
"And I don't like keeping my promises you know..." Axel adds, whispering against his breath.
"What?"
Axel knows that he doesn't feel anything, but still, something inside has grown and festered and is painfully hard to ignore.
"...nothing you need to worry about."
And Axel hopes to die.
