As Meg pulls on a pair of sweatpants, Jupiter, her family's new dog, trots into her room.
As he makes himself comfortable on the pile of discarded clothing Meg wore earlier to Logan's disastrous surprise party, Meg grins wearily as she tucks herself into bed.
Thinking about how odd Duncan had acted after he smashed his car in front of Logan's house, seeming like her couldn't remember doing it, Meg absent-mindedly plays with the toy dog Duncan won for her at the Neptune county fair not even two weeks ago.
She remembers how Duncan gallantly picked it out for her after spending ten dollars to knock over some bottles, and how happy they both were.
Sighing, Meg remembers the look on Duncan's face when he saw who Logan was kissing in his front doorway. Veronica.
Meg quietly beckons Jupiter to the side of her bed, then tosses the toy dog down to him. As the puppy begins to bite off an ear, Meg turns on her side and closes her eyes.
