Chapter Twelve: Zaofu
A year and a half later
A now fifteen-year-old Khari stood outside on top of a giant hill overlooking Zaofu. She smiled and thought about all the places she had been. All over the Fire Nation and the whole entire Earth Kingdom. She grabbed her things and slowly made her way down to the metal city. She spun around, looking at the scenery as she continued to the city. When Khari got to the entrance of the city she looked around before she was surrounded by guards. They were in a fighting stance which confused Khari a bit. A man Khari didn't recognize started to walk near them.
"Halt! Who are you?" a guard asked Khari.
"Umm Khari Beifong? I was here like five years ago or something like that. I'm Suyin's niece. I'm came to see my aunt," Khari said.
"I'm Aiwei an-" Aiwei was cut off by Khari.
"I'm gonna be honest. I really don't care who you are or what else you were going to say. I really just want to see my Aunt Suyin. I haven't seen her in a long time," Khari admitted.
Aiwei sighed as he told the guards to stand down. The guards went back to their post as Khari followed Aiwei to the Beifong home. Khari thought about the last time she had been in the city. She tried to attack her Uncle Baatar for not taking her to her Aunt Suyin, nearly destroyed the area her aunt kept her meteorites, and showed her aunt her potential. As they approached the home Khari stopped for a moment, taking a deep breath. Time does change things and she knew this would be one. She was guided in the house into a room where her aunt and uncle were facing a wall with blueprints on them. She placed her things on the floor, running over to them. She wrapped her arms around Su, laughing a bit. Baatar turned around, and Khari let Su turn to see her. The two smiled but she could tell she surprised them. They hugged her and she smiled as she thought about the trip here.
"Khari, look at you. How old are you now? Seventeen, right? You look absolutely beautiful just like the rest of the women in the family. What are you doing here? The last we heard you were going to be staying in the South Pole with Katara and Kya," Suyin said.
"Aunt Suyin it hasn't been that long, I'm only fifteen. They really haven't told you anything about me. I haven't been with any of them for a year and a half now. I decided to travel the world after Aunt Suki's death. I told them I'd eventually venture back to the South Pole but I was having so much fun. I've collected so many new things. This is my last stop before I go to the South Pole. I love my adventure but I'm sure everyone misses me," Khari said.
Suyin laughed as she thought about her adventurous days. At first Khari could remind Su of Lin but Su is starting to see parts of herself peak through. A little girl ran into the room with tears in her eyes, clinging to Suyin. Another girl ran in, yelling about something the smaller girl did. The next thing Khari saw were cables, making her react quicker than she ever had before. When the cables were close enough, she grabbed them, wrapping them around her arm. She pulled the cables, making the girl fall to the ground. The girl pulled on the cables, trying to pull Khari to the ground but she tightened her grip on the cables. Suyin looked at the two girls and it was like she was looking back into the past. She looked back at the metal staff she and Baatar had designed for Khari. They were going to send it to the South Pole but just didn't get around to it. Suyin looked back at the girls who looked like they were going to fight in the middle of her office.
"Girls! Enough of this fighting. If you want to fight, we are going to do it the right way. That means not in the house. Kuvira, you know where we practice everything so that is where you two can fight. Khari, take this staff. Your Uncle Baatar and I designed it for you. We were told you are pretty good with weapons. Now you two better get all this fighting out of your system today because after today there will be no more. I hope I have myself clear," Suyin said sternly.
Kuvira huffed as she crossed her arms but Khari looked down at the ground. She thought about all the times her parents told her that they hope they made themselves clear. Suyin looked at Khari for a moment waiting for her to do or say something but Khari only nodded. Khari only stuck her hand out, still looking at the ground. Baatar and Suyin looked at each other before they handed Khari the staff. Khari looked at the metal staff in her hands, slowly running her hands over it. At one end it had her family's symbol, the flying boar and on the other it had the symbols for the four elements. Khari smiled for a bit but she thought it needed a little bit of a Khari touch. She held onto the staff putting the words In memory of Avatar Aang on one side. She began to spin it, trying to get the hang of her new weapon. The family went to the area where the two girls would fight. Kuvira and Khari faced each other as everyone watched. Khari was always taught to wait then strike. She has dropped many opponents bigger than her that way. Kuvira stomped on the ground, making two large boulders appear. She threw one then a few moments later threw the second boulder. Khari stood where she was until the perfect moment before she jumped on the first boulder, then jumping over the second. When she landed, she saw Kuvira's cables coming in her direction. Khari waited before she ducked under the cables, grabbing them. Khari sent a small piece of earth into the harness, jamming the cables. Khari smirked as she dropped the cables. Kuvira continued to try and get her cables unjammed as Khari ran towards her. Kuvira looked up to see Khari running towards her so she swung her still exposed cables. Khari pulled her staff close, jumping in the air in between the cables. Suyin laughed a bit as she thought about how Khari was moving more like an airbender than an earthbender. Khari bent the earth under her feet, moving herself behind Kuvira. She made a quick movement with her hands, making three small pillars pop up diagonally, knocking Kuvira back. Khari bent the small piece of earth out of Kuvira's cable harness which made the cables fly back towards her, knocking her back further. Khari stood there, holding her staff as she waited to see what Kuvira would do next. Khari gave Kuvira a weird look when she didn't get up. Khari took a few steps towards Kuvira to check on her but Kuvira rolled onto her back, throwing two small rocks at her. Khari spun her staff but was still hit with one of the rocks. She slid back, trying to stay on her feet. Kuvira sent her cables at Khari, knocking her down. Khari went to reach for her staff but Kuvira used her cables to pull it away. Khari felt a pull at her neck before she felt the snap of her necklace. She jumped up from the ground to see Kuvira standing there with a smirk on her face.
"Give it back Kuvira! I don't even care about the staff just give me the necklace. So, help the spirits I'll end your little life without hesitation if you don't give me my necklace right now!" Khari demanded.
"Make me. I mean you are a Beifong after all, prove it," Kuvira tormented.
Suyin sighed as she pinched the bridge of her nose. Maybe having the girls fight each other wasn't her best idea. Khari clenched her fist as Kuvira tied the necklace to the staff and earthbent the staff to the ground. Khari felt her eyes water as a vision of Iroh appeared. She reached out but the vision disappear which made her trip and fall to the ground. She felt the tears run down her cheeks as she thought about him. Suyin took a step towards Khari until she saw Khari turn her fist towards the ground. The ground started to shake, knocking everyone to the ground. A crack formed in the ground and continued towards Kuvira. Kuvira tried to get up in time but she fell through, screaming as she fell. Suyin looked up to see Khari was surrounded by lava and Kuvira had fallen in a crack. She sighed as she walked down to where the girls were fighting and earthbent Khar's staff out of the ground as she got Kuvira back where she belonged. Suyin slowly made her way over to Khari, being as cautious as she could. Khari soon heard her name which made her look up to see her Aunt Suyin with her staff and necklace. Khari gave her a brief smile before she stood and solidified the lava. Khari snatched the staff from Suyin. She began to untie the necklace from the staff as she began to walk away. She used her metalbending to fix the necklace before she placed it around her neck. Suyin couldn't punish Kuvira for what she had done. Suyin was the one who told the girls to get their frustrations out. Baatar had agreed to stay with Kuvira and the other children while Suyin went after Khari. Khari went into Suyin's office, grabbing her things but when she turned around, she saw her aunt standing there. The last time something like this happened she had convinced Khari to stay by promising things. Khari thought about how she had been alone for over a year now just traveling. All she had was letters between Iroh, Kimiko, Uncle Bumi, Aunt Kya, Uncle Sokka, and her Gran Gran. Letters weren't very much help when the nightmares hit or when it was a little colder at night. She knew that her Aunt Suyin would try to use that against her. Khari felt as alone as she did when she was on the island but she did get stronger while she was gone. Her eyes started to water a bit. Holding her bag became more difficult, so she dropped the bag. Suyin walked over to Khari, wrapping her arms around her. Khari wrapped her arms around Suyin and began to cry.
"Aunt Suyin, I'm so alone. I miss them so much. I miss him. I write but it doesn't make it any better. I want to see them but I just got here. I don't know what to do anymore," Khari cried.
Suyin ran her fingers through Khari's hair, trying to soothe her a bit. Baatar walked in with one of the guards who had two letters in his hand. Suyin and Khari both looked at the guard who walked straight over to Khari. Khari gave everyone a confused look as she took the two letters. She saw they were from the United Forces. She laughed a bit because she never told anyone where she was going but Iroh told her in one of the letters he would always be able to find her. She didn't know how he did it but he did it. He probably used both the royal guards and his connections in the United Forces. She ran her hand over the letters before she sat on the couch. The last time she talked to him they were talking about moving him to a different post but he didn't know where. She looked up at her aunt and uncle before she looked down at the letters again. She sighed before she opened the first letter and started to unfold the paper slowly.
Dear K,
I told you I'd always be able to find you. I know this letter found you because I'm the prince and I've pretty much always gotten what I wanted. They did move my post but I think you'll be happy about this relocation. They moved me to the South Pole and with Bumi at that. It was nice to see Katara and Kya again. You know Katara she feeds Bumi and I every night which is a major upgrade from the food on base. Our first night here she made a feast like the United Forces was starving us. Which by the look of Bumi's gut I can promise they have been feeding him. I've also met the new avatar. Eh, let's just say I can't believe that Korra is your grandfather's reincarnation. Unless Aang figured he would give your dad a heart attack with training her. She reminds me of you. Stubborn, talented and she doesn't let you forget it. She has talked about you but she doesn't really remember where she remembers you from. I don't mention the day of the attack. I think the two of you would get along great. She may not be your grandfather but she seems pretty impressive. She will need a pretty impressive teacher. The one she has in my opinion is not that great. Khari, I miss you please don't take long to come to the South Pole.
Iroh
Khari smiled as she held the pendent of her necklace. At least Iroh was being taken care of in the South Pole. Spirits she missed him but right now this was how it had to be. She had to visit her family for a small time before she went to stay in the South Pole. She knew Iroh would understand but why did wanting to stay in Zaofu hurt so bad. She laughed as she thought about her father trying to train someone like her airbending. This is the best thing she had heard since she couldn't remember when. Her father won't make it a week training the avatar. Khari opened the second letter to see it was from her Uncle Bumi. Her eyes stared to water before she read the letter. She was so happy that he was finally with her Gran Gran. He wouldn't admit it to anyone but Khari could tell after her Grandpa Aang's death her Uncle Bumi wanted to go to the South Pole. Khari took a deep breath before she read the letter.
Dear Khar,
So Iroh said he would make sure you got this letter. You must be getting so big by now. We missed two birthdays now. That makes you what? Fifteen or sixteen, right? Cut me a little slack okay, at least I write. This new avatar, Korra, she is going to drive your dad insane. She is nothing like my dad and her personality is going to drive him insane. I love her because she's a little spitfire. She loves training with your Gran Gran. Speaking of your Gran Gran she is going to make me fat with all this food. Prewarning for when you come down, she will feed you like you've never eaten in your life. Iroh and I've had a feast every day since we got here. Your Aunt Kya really misses you. She understands the whole wanting to adventure but doesn't make this any less heartbreaking for us. I think your Gran Gran is going to try and have Iroh try and persuade you to come to the South Pole. You two have always had problems tell each other no. Khari, I miss you please where ever you are don't stay long because I don't want to miss anymore birthdays. Keep smiling that beautiful smile and remember you have the prettiest green eyes my father had ever seen. I love you.
Uncle Bumi
Khari wiped the tears out of her eyes. Her Uncle Bumi sure did know how to write a letter. Suyin sat next to Khari, handing her a tissue. Khari showed her aunt parts of her Uncle Bumi's letter, making the two laugh a little. They could both see a whole table full of food. They both started to tell Baatar what it was like on Air Temple Island with Katara and Aang. Khari told them how things really changed after Lin became chief. That she and Iroh fought the triads at least twice. Suyin told them about the time she joined the triads and pissed Lin off. Khari told them she could top any story Suyin came up with. When they both raised an eyebrow, Khari laughed as she thought about the perfect thing. She informed them about how it was an unspoken rule but everyone knew to not mention Suyin. She laughed as she told them about how if her parents were pissed and did something, she didn't like she would mention her just to piss them off more. Suyin tried not laugh but that was priceless. She knew that was something she would have pulled when she was younger. They all turned towards the door when they heard it creak open to see Kuvira and the Beifong children standing there. Suyin gave them all a smile before she gestured for them to come in the room. The four children looked at the three as Khari thought about her adventure so far. She looked at the children and rushed over to her bag. She grabbed her pictures out before she told them to sit on the couch. She was going to tell the Beifong children about their family past. They were going to hear about the hundred-year war, Air Temple Island, her mother, her siblings, the royals, everything. Suyin raised an eyebrow as Khari set all her pictures down on the floor facing the children. She looked for something in Suyin's office to point at the pictures. When she finally found one, she pointed at Sokka and Katara first explaining how they started everything. How they found her grandfather and left the South Pole to help him master the elements so he could defeat the Fire Lord. She pointed at her grandfather, explaining how he managed to master four elements in a short amount of time all while being chased by the man that would soon become his best friend. She pointed to Lord Zuko, explaining what his father did and how his Uncle Iroh was there for him the whole time even when his crazy sister Azula tried to manipulate him into turning his back on his uncle. She pointed at her Aunt Suki but paused for a moment as she thought about her. She looked up to see the children staring at her, waiting eagerly for what would come out of her mouth next. Khari smiled as she thought about how the story was told to her. She told them how the Kyoshi warriors had taken her grandparents and Uncle Sokka down but her Uncle Sokka was too full of himself to believe women could take the group down. Suyin laughed as Khari explained how Sokka quickly changed his tune and eventually ended up fighting alongside many women during the war. She explained everything up until the Earth Kingdom which had the children sitting closer to each other. Suyin could clearly tell Khari got her story telling skills from Sokka, Aang ad Toph. Khari introduced Toph a bit different. She pointed at her but the children already knew who she was so when she explained Toph a bit more they had never heard this story. She explained the rumble arena and how she had given her Grandpa Aang the name Twinkle Toes because his airbending made him so light on his feet. The children laughed as the thought about Toph calling the avatar, Twinkle Toes. She continued to tell them about the Hundred Year War until she reached the adventures after that. She then started to tell the children about the gang's children. She started with Izumi and explained who she was and how she was the current Fire Lord. She then when to her father and his siblings. She continued on about her Uncle Bumi and Aunt Kya until she realized that she had to tell the children about her mother. She told them things about her mother that she thought they would want to know. She never noticed they all fell asleep on the couch against each other. She was about to explain the grandchildren but Suyin stopped her.
"Khari," Suyin tried to get her attention.
"Yea?" Khari responded.
"I think your story put them to sleep. It wasn't boring it was just everyone had a long day. Honestly, I'm surprised you're still awake. The children loved the story. You can tell stories every night if you want," Suyin told her.
Khari smiled at her a bit before she grabbed her things. Suyin had a guard show Khari where her room would be in the house while she and Baatar got the children to bed. When the guard opened the door, Khari stood there for a moment before she looked over at the guard. He stuck his hand out, offering to take her bag in the room for her. She smiled as she handed him her bag and followed him into the room. She noticed that he couldn't be more than two years older than her. As he put her bag down, she noticed the scar on right his hand and right ear. She reached out, gently touching it. He spun around, making her pull her hand close to her. The guard saw Khari holding onto one of her arms so he reached out, pulling her sleeve out which revealed the scar she gained while learning to metalbend. She watched his hand as he slowly started to take his handover the whole scar. Khari looked up at him, smiling briefly. He quickly pulled his hand away as he looked up at the door. Khari spun around quickly, tripping over her own feet. She started to fall so the guard tried to catch her but they both fell to the ground. When Khari pushed her hair out of her face, she looked up to see her Aunt Suyin and Uncle Baatar. She gave them half a smile before she looked down at the ground, rubbing the back of her neck a bit. She could feel the guard's heartbeat as they both stayed where they were. She looked up when her Aunt Suyin cleared her throat to see her with her arms crossed.
"Su-Suyin it... it isn't what... I promise I wasn't... I would never...I'm... please don't fire me," the guard panicked.
Khari looked at him from the corner of her eye before she looked up again, trying to suppress a laugh. Khari saw the unamused look on her aunt's face but she wouldn't be the first Beifong woman to give her that look. Khari did nothing wrong and she knew it. They were simply looking at each other's scars. Khari didn't even show him her favorite scar. Khari started to stand, turning to help the guard but he looked at her aunt and uncle. Would the boys here really be scared to talk to her because she was a Beifong or would it only be the guards? She reached out again but he didn't take her hand. Khari grabbed her staff off of the bed, pushing past her aunt and uncle. They both sighed as Khari stormed down the hall. Khari stormed out of the house, smashing her staff off the side of one of the decorations that was in the walk way. Khari continued to get away from her aunt and uncle. Were these the rules set for her children? Khari went to the edge of the domes and sat against them. She placed her head into her lap, only looking up when she felt a hand on her shoulder. When Khari looked up, she saw a guard standing there. She took her staff, swinging it at the guard, knocking him into the dome. A few more guards showed up, one notifying Suyin of what was happening. When Suyin and Baatar arrived one of the guards had taken Khari's staff while two of them used their cables to hold Khari's wrist. Khari slammed her foot on the ground, making a small piece of earth appear. She kicked it, sending it at the guards and wrapping the two together. The guards let go of her wrist and Khari stood there facing another guard. The guard began to throw metal strips at Khari but she spun them behind her, sending them back. The guard jumped out of the way but Khari used her metalbending to tighten the armor around the guard's shoulder. Khari stopped as he started to scream, shaking her head a bit. Her eyes turned to her aunt and she could tell by the look on her face she was displeased. She was giving her the same look her parents always gave her when she had gotten in trouble.
"Oh, please don't even give me that look. You caused all of this. You did exactly what they did. You know why because you are exactly like your sister. You two may not want to admit it but you are just like each other. You two are so damn controlling and if something doesn't in your perfect fucking box you guys try to control or mold it until it does. Everything has to be perfect. You have to keep up that Beifong image and for dad's half gotta keep up the perfect avatar's family image. We do no wrong. We are held to a higher standard because of the family we are born into but it makes us a prisoner. Just like the island this place is making me feel like a prisoner. They don't even want to talk to me, not like that anyway. I knew coming here was a mistake," Khari admitted.
Suyin felt as if she had been slapped across the face. She had been compared to her sister and not in a good way. Khari thought that she was making a mistake by visiting. She felt her eyes start to sting a bit but she continued to look at Khari who just stood there. Suyin turned her back to Khari and took a deep breath. She was going to make one of the toughest decisions she knew she would have to make. She looked at Baatar, hoping he would stop her but he gave her a brief smile.
"If that is how you feel you are free to leave. You can grab your things and the guards will put the domes down to let you out but they will be put right back up. I don't want you to feel like a prisoner. I want you to know you are always welcome here," Suyin sighed as she walked away with tears in her eyes.
Khari reached out but stopped, only looking at the ground. She looked at her uncle but he only gave her a look before he walked away. Khari stood there holding her arm as the guards freed themselves. Khari apologized before she made her way to her room, closing the door behind her. She slid down against the door before she started to cry. When she felt like she couldn't cry anymore she went to desk and began to write on a piece of paper. She looked at the paper when she thought she was done and grabbed her things. She was soon standing outside of her aunt and uncle's bedroom, only waiting for one of them to ask her to stay. She opened the door, placing the note on the table before she quietly closed the door. When she turned, she bumped into the guard that had escorted her to her room. She walked around him but he grabbed her hand, making her stop. She pulled away as she made her way for the dome. When she stood at the dome the guards asked if she was sure she wanted to leave, making her pause for a moment. Did she really want to leave? She took a deep breath and nodded. The domes opened enough for her to exit, making her slowly walk out. She started to look back before she looked at the ground and sighed. Khari heard the dome close behind her, making a tear run down her cheek. She didn't know if she was making the right decision. Khari didn't walk very far before she heard something behind her. When she turned around something hit her in the side of the face. She tried to keep her eyes open but it became more difficult by the second. As Khari saw the figure coming towards her, she noticed things only found in Zaofu. She couldn't believe that there was a traitor in her aunt's city. She slammed her fist on the ground sending her attacker back. She felt pain in her back which made her drop to the ground. Khari tried to prop herself up but her attacker kicked her in the side. She grabbed her side when she was kicked again. She was kicked repeatedly until she vomited then she was grabbed and tossed into a boulder. She felt her hair get pulled before her face was slammed into the very boulder she was thrown into. She felt the blood runny from her face but still couldn't get the energy to fight. She was going to prop herself up but her attacker stomped on her hand and moved their foot into her hand as hard as they could, making her yell out in pain. She was soon grabbed by the collar of the shirt and was punch multiple times. She could barely keep her eyes open but still couldn't see her attacker. She soon felt something warm and wet go across her face where the blood had been.
"I always told my father I would taste Beifong blood one day. I always thought it would be Suyin, you know living in her city and all. You will do just fine though. Even the granddaughter of Avatar Aang," a man's voiced whispered in her ear, pushing some of her hair behind her ear.
"Here have some more you twisted freak," Khari said before she spit some of her blood on the man.
"I see we have the Beifong temper. I hope you can survive out here while you're this injured Miss. Beifong. It would be a shame if there were a tragedy in the Beifong family, especially to someone so young," the man whispered again before he knocked Khari unconscious.
The next morning when the domes came down the guards went to check out the perimeter like they did every morning. Two guards were walking when they noticed blood. The two looked at each other before they decided to go investigate. As they continued to walk, they found the mess from the attack. The two were worried what they would find at the other end of the mess. When they reached the end the found Khari on the ground but couldn't tell. The two ran for her to see if she was okay but when they turned her over, they stopped. They didn't recognize her before but now that they saw her it was hard to believe. She groaned as she tried to open her eyes. One of the guards spotted her things and went to grab it.
"Hey Khari it's okay. It's Shen Tao, the guard from last night. My buddy Ling and I are going to get you back to Zaofu. You're hurt pretty bad. Stay still this may hurt but I'm going to pick you up," Shen Tao tried to comfort her.
Khari screamed as Shen Tao stuck his arms under her. The two hurried towards Zaofu, hoping that Khari hadn't been in her condition long. When they got to Zaofu all of the guards stood there and stared. No one knew how to react. The last any of them had seen Khari she was leaving Zaofu. When Shen Tao and Ling got to the Beifong home Aiwei gave them a look but the two still rushed in. At the breakfast table all the children continued to ask Suyin and Baatar where Khari was but they only told them to eat. Suyin pushed her breakfast around her plate as she thought about last night and the note Khari left. She sighed as she looked over at Baatar. Shen Tao and Ling ran into the dining area with Khari and her things in their arms. Suyin stood as the two men tried to breathe. She shook her head as she walked around the table towards Khari with tears in eyes. She pushed the hair out of her face, staring at all the wounds she had. She looked back at Baatar and he could tell she instantly regretted letting Khari leave Zaofu.
"What happened? I asked what happened?!" Suyin shouted at the two men.
"It happened last night. He caught me off guard. You have a traitor in your city. After he beat me, he licked the blood off of my face and said he told his father he would always taste Beifong blood. He always thought it would be yours but he was okay with mine because I'm the avatar's granddaughter," Khari said.
"Eww that's gross," the Beifong children said in unison.
"Shen Tao, Ling, please take Khari back to her room. Do not take your eyes off of her for one second. The other guards and I will search the whole city. The domes will be closed. I will have someone come to Khari's room to check her out. The children will stay in the house until we catch this man. No one sleeps until we find him. I don't want a traitor in my city, especially not a dangerous one," Suyin stated.
The two men nodded as they took Khari to her room. Suyin sighed before she kissed the top of her children's heads. After Suyin kissed Kuvira's head, Kuvira gave her a worried look. Suyin went to grab her cables before she went to gather the guards. Kuvira jumped down from her chair and followed Shen Tao and Ling to Khari's room. When they tried to shut the door Kuvira stuck her hand in the doorway, preventing it from closing. The two men looked back to see the young girl standing there with a worried look. They gestured to the closest chair but she wanted to get a look at Khari. She wanted to see for herself that Khari was okay or as okay as she was going to get. Kuvira gave Shen Tao a look when he grabbed Khari's swollen hand but she turned her attention to the door when someone knocked. The three looked up to see the best person Zaofu had when it came to medical care. The man smiled at the three and looked at the bed to see Khari laying there. He walked in placing his things next to Khari's bed, soon grabbing a chair. He cleared his throat before he got close to the back of her head.
"Ah, we meet again and so soon Miss. Beifong. It would appear you have gained a few injuries. It also looks like you managed to find your way back to the city. I'm quite impressed," he whispered in her ear.
Khari tried to sit up but Shen Tao and Ling pushed her back down, thinking she was acting out because of the pain. She turned her head to face him, spiting on him. The men looked at each other for a moment before they looked at the man that Suyin had entrusted to take care of her niece. He had simply wiped the spit off of himself as if these types of things happen all the time. They watched as he tried to grab Khari again but she was not going to let that happen.
"Get him away from me!" Khari shouted.
(Auther's Note: So, we got to meet Kuvira in this chapter and yes, she and Khari do get off to a bumpy start. Khari's trip to Zaofu did not go as planned so far. Also, I wanted Khari to tell her aunt that she is like her mother because in ways she is but obviously she did it in the wrong way. Yes, there is a traitor in Zaofu. I think that is one of my favorite parts because I just wrote it and didn't think about it at all so I just kinda rolled with it. We will see in the coming chapters how it affects Zaofu, the guards, the family, Khari. We got more letter with Iroh and Bumi to Khari. I know people have told me in the past that they love them so I wanted to add them. We also met Aiwei and you will soon find out how Khari feel about him. Shen Tao is a new character I want to try and work with for a few chapters. Reviews are always appreciated.)
