A/N This is pretty short...and the paragraphs kinda seem to go on and on and on. To me at least. It's because I tried to make them long. I like the way I phrased things in this one though. A lot. Just...read.
I glance up from the food I've been chasing around the plate with my fork and catch a glimpse of red. Long, flaming red hair, pulled up into a half ponytail to keep it out of your face. Your milk chocolate eyes sparkle with happiness. The entire room seems to light up as you smile at something Potter has just said.
Potter. I still can't help but worry that someday he'll finally fall for you and you won't hesitate to be with him. You always reassure me that you're only friends, that you're mine and always will be, but a nagging voice in my head doesn't believe you. It tries to convince me that you're lying; you'll only be with me until someone better comes along. Sometimes I can't help but believe that voice.
I still don't understand why you're with me at all. You're way too good for me. You're a Gryffindor, and I'm nothing but a bloody Slytherin. I'm no better than the dirt you walk on, yet you say you refuse to leave me. Why would you lower your standards to be with someone like me? Perhaps it's just for a laugh; you snicker with your friends as you recount how I've told you I love you on many occasions and how you said you returned the feelings - and that I believed you every time.
You grin and say I'm being silly when I ask why you haven't left yet. You try to dissolve my worries with a kiss, but you never want to talk about it, which leads me to wonder even more. You seem to read my mind and bite gently on my lower lip, and I forget about my fears for the moment. Kissing leads to more; more touching, more tongues. It ends with you lying beneath me, screaming my name. When you say I make you happy, I can't help but think you only mean that sexually.
Maybe you like pissing off your brothers. You knew Ron hated Corner, and yet you stayed with him until he became irritating. He never liked that Thomas boy much, but you didn't care. You didn't even seem happy with either of them, but that didn't stop you. Is that why you're with me now? He was positively spitting venom when you finally told him about us, how we've been together for fourteen months now. The only person that would make your brother angrier would be Draco, but he'd never have you. I'm sure that's why you settled with me.
I'm positive that someday you'll leave me for Potter. You say I'm the only one who can make you smile no matter what, but it sure as hell seems like he's doing a good job of that. He's your knight in shining armour, exactly the person you've wanted since you first heard the story of how the great Harry Potter survived Avada Kedavra when he was just a baby. You won't want to be stuck with me when Potter finally comes 'round.
I don't even realize that I've been staring at you until you glance over and our eyes lock. You smile warmly at me, and I can't help but notice that it is, in fact, a much bigger smile than the one you were flashing at Potter mere seconds ago. I notice the gleam in your eye that had not been there earlier. I smile back, and my fears disappear once again.
