Chapter Twenty: The Summoning

One Year Later

A sixteen-year-old Khari stared at the letters she had attached to her wall. She had gotten at least three more from I.K.D. over the course of the last few months. She couldn't figure out who could want to contact her so bad. She didn't even know how they knew to get letters to her in Zaofu. She wondered if she was still safe in Zaofu. Thinking had become so hard with the arrival of not one but two babies. The twins screamed all the time. Khari wished they would be as quiet as Mica was as a baby. Khari slowly ran her hand over the first letter which had dry blood stains on it. She flashed back to the day she found the soldier from the United Forces. He was finally sent back to the Southern Water Tribe after three weeks. Khari finally snapped back into present time when she heard the twins scream. She groaned before she walked towards her Aunt Suyin and Uncle Baatar's room. She picked up one of the babies and started to rock him as she tried to quiet him.

"Wei, I wish you guys would stop screaming for one day. You're going to make me go gray. Being loud must be a Beifong thing," she giggled.

Wei soon stopped crying and started smile at her. Khari picked up Wing and put both boys on each of her shoulders. She rocked the two as she walked out of the room. Khari found it odd she didn't hear or see any of the children. In fact, the only people she saw were the guards and anyone that worked in the estate. Khari stood outside of her Aunt Suyin's door, staring at it. She was trying to think of a way to open the door but with the twins in both hands it was going to be hard. She reached her foot up but missed the handle to the door. Shen Tao and Ling laughed a bit before they helped her open the door. Khari shook her head when she saw the whole Beifong family asleep in the office.

"Guess it's just you and me little guys. Ow, that hurts you know."

Khari tried to get her hair out of the twins grasps but they both pulled even harder. They both started to laugh as Khari sighed. She left and made her way back to her room. She continued to rock the twins as she stared at the letters again. Both boys had a handful of Khari's hair in one hand and the other in their mouth. Khari moved a bit closer to one of the letters to examine it. She knows someone that writes their I's like the person that wrote the letter. She tilted her head as she examined it better. Then she saw the differences.

"I don't suppose either of you would happen to know who I.K.D. is do you?" The twins stared at her from her shoulder. "So, I guess that's a no."

Khari giggled as the boys continued to suck on their hands. Her door soon flew open with the sound of a whoosh. Khari turned around to see her Aunt Suyin and Uncle Baatar standing there. She could tell they were still so exhausted. She gave them a smile when their eyes fell on the twins. They smiled as they heard Khari humming to see the boys just staring. She looked out her window to see the domes were going up for the night.

"Here let us take the boys and you can rest," Baatar told her.

"I think you two should be the ones to rest. Plus, they are helping me solve the mystery of who I.K.D. is. They are actually pretty good helpers because their quiet. Thus, I can think so I might be closer to figuring it out. I like quiet babies so they are staying here. Ow. Okay I guess I deserved that one a bit."

Khari pulled her head up to try and get her hair out of the twin's grasp. Her aunt and uncle looked at her as she hummed to the boys and stared at the letters again. Khari shifted her feet sending the two out of her room before she walked over and shut the door. A few hours went by and Khari started to feel a bit tired. She laid on her bed as she thought about the letter more. She and the twins soon fell asleep. Not to long after Khari fell asleep her door opened and Opal walked through her door. Opal slowly climbed into Khari's bed and fell back asleep. A half hour later Kuvira came in her room and crawled in her bed. The group slept until the following morning. Opal elbowed Khari in the side, waking her up. She looked around to see that it was no longer just her and the twins. She groaned as she tried to get up. She managed to get out of her bed and set the twins down when she opened her door one of the guards was standing there with a few letters in his hand. She looked down at them, thanking him before she took them. She recognized the handwriting on all of them. She froze when she reached the final letter. She stared at the White Lotus symbol marked on the envelope. She looked back at the children sleeping before she opened all the letters. They all said the same thing. She didn't understand. Why was she being summoned to the Southern Water Tribe? She didn't understand why Fire Lord Izumi, her Uncle Sokka, Gran Gran, Lord Zuko, and the White Lotus all summoned her. Was it really that urgent? She grabbed the letters and started to run towards her Aunt Suyin's room. She started to knock on the door but there was no response. She knocked on the door a bit harder, hoping she wouldn't wake the children. She soon pounded on the door like her life depended on it. She soon heard movement from the bedroom and the door opened. Suyin gave her a worried when she saw Khari's face. Khari pushed her way into Suyin's room and held up the letters.

"I've been summoned to the Southern Water Tribe. Five people summoned me. That means something has to be wrong or there is some urgent matter. Why the White Lotus? I don't understand. It says they expect me no later than tomorrow night."

"You're leaving? You can't go!" Kuvira yelled.

"Kuvira, enough!" Suyin shouted.

Khari stared at the two as a tear rolled down her cheek. Kuvira was right. She couldn't be expected to just pack her things and be there the next day. Khari walked by the two without another word. She opened her bedroom door and looked around. She had settled down in one place for a whole year and she was expected to do what they told her to and move to the Southern Water Tribe. She started to slowly pack her things. She started to cry as she shoved more things in her bag. It took her a couple of hours but she still didn't want to go. She double checked her room to make sure she had everything and when she confirmed she went to inform her Aunt Suyin. She slowly reached up to knock on her Aunt Suyin's office door but something stopped her. She raised her hand and knocked before she opened the door. Khari informed Suyin that all her things were packed but when Khari looked around, she saw a few bags packed. She should have known that they would go with her for a bit. Later that night everyone took their things to the airship. Khari kept her weapons close so that she knew none of the children would get hurt. Suyin had decided she wanted to bring only two guards with since there were guards from the United Forces in the Southern Water Tribe. She also invited Jia to come due to the fact she and Khari had gotten so close. As the airship left Zaofu Khari saw Aiwei standing below. She knew one thing for sure, she would not miss him. She went to sit down but she felt everyone staring at her. This was going to hurt everyone. She didn't understand why leaving hurt so bad. A few hours later she saw the Sothern Water Tribe through the window. She gasped when she saw the Fire Nation Royal barge. She couldn't believe it, they were here. It was still light out so everyone had to still be up. When the airship landed Khari started to look around. It didn't take long to spot everyone, making Khari extremely excited. The group was already off the air ship and the group from the Southern Water Tribe was approaching Khari. Kimiko and Khari squealed as they ran towards each. The two hugged each other and laughed for a bit. When they pulled away, they both looked each other up and down.

"Look at you. You look amazing. It has been too long," Kimiko smiled.

"Me? I mean look at you. You're right it has been too long. Two or three years of just letters but hey we're together now. Maybe I'll go MIA again," Khari laughed.

Kimiko pushed Khari as she laughed harder. Khari looked around Kimiko to see her Gran Gran, Aunt Kya, and Uncle Sokka. She looked around but didn't see her Uncle Bumi. She smiled at the three as she walked over to them. She hugged them and smiled. It had only been a year since she hugged her Aunt Kya and Gran Gran but that was still a decent amount of time. The last time she hugged her Uncle Sokka was at his wife's funeral. She couldn't believe she was almost as tall as all of them, or taller. She turned to the remaining members of the Royal Family. She smiled but was a bit disappointed when she didn't see Iroh. She hugged the Royal Family. She felt the tears roll down her cheeks. She was so happy to see all of them again. Those years were so long and the only way she talked to them were letters. She soon saw the White Lotus approaching with a young water tribe girl and a couple. Korra and Khari stared at each other but didn't say anything. Korra saw a younger version of Khari before she saw her at her current age. Khari saw Korra but then she saw Grandpa Aang laugh then Korra again.

"Korra," Khari whispered.

"Khari," Korra mumbled.

Everyone stared at the two in shock. A small distance away the United Forces soldiers were talking and something caught Iroh and Bumi's attention. The two looked up before they looked at each other. They started to make their way for the docks. When they got there Iroh froze. He couldn't believe it. Khari had finally come to the Southern Water Tribe. Everyone turned their attention to Iroh and Bumi. Khari stared at everyone before she turned around. Her eyes watered a bit before she started to run towards Bumi and Iroh. Bumi stepped out of the way because he knew he couldn't catch Khari if she jumped. She jumped towards Iroh, wrapping her arms around him. The two hit the ground and started laughing. Shen Tao watched the two as they laughed.

"Khari, you've um... gotten eh...umm uh... older," Iroh managed to say.

Korra tugged on Katara's sleeve, making Katara look down. "Master Katara, Prince Iroh knows everyone gets older, right?"

"Yea Iroh, don't you know everyone gets older," Khari teased as she leaned closer.

Iroh rolled his eyes at Khari as she laughed at him. She helped him off the ground before she turned to her Uncle Bumi. Iroh was right, he had put on some weight since she had seen him last. He started to tell a story that was clearly over exaggerated, making her giggle a bit. Iroh whispered in her ear about how he would tell her what really happened, making her giggle and nod. Khari looked around at everyone and smiled she couldn't believe she was surrounded by everyone she cared about again. Well almost everyone she told herself. She stopped when she saw how Shen Tao kept staring at her. The White Lotus masters approached Khari along with Sokka, Izumi, and Zuko.

"Khari sweetheart, we would like to speak with you privately along with Korra and her parents. It won't take long," Katara told her.

Khari smiled and nodded. Kya offered to talk Khari's things to her hut but Iroh offered to carry them as long as Kya showed him where it was. Khari laughed at the two before she followed the group. She didn't understand what the White Lotus wanted with her. What could she possibly contribute to them? When they got to their destination the White Lotus shut the door behind them. Khari turned around, giving everyone a concerned look. Korra stared at Khari's sword and staff. Khari pulled her sword a bit closer, feeling a bit uncomfortable with how Korra was staring at it. Khari looked up when an older man around her Gran Gran's age cleared his throat.

"Khari, we brought you here because we want you to teach Avatar Korra. She does already have an earthbending teacher but you wouldn't be teaching her earthbending. This is very unheard of with other avatars but we would like you to teach her your skills with weapons. We hear you are quite impressive," he informed her.

"Her? You want me to teach her my skills in weapons? She is only a child."

"So, you're just a teenager and they want you to teach me. I'm sure there is someone better," Korra chimed in.

"These aren't toys. They are deadly weapons. Some days I wonder why I even picked them up. I've almost killed myself with them at least twice or did you forget that. The time my own daggers stabbed me in the back? The time I fell against my own sword and cut myself? How about the time I shot Aunt Suyin with an arrow because she scared me? How about we talk about the time my father pissed me off so bad I shoved a sword in his face and was more than willing to stab him with it? I only learned how to use them when I was twelve. If you want her to learn so bad why can't Uncle Sokka teach her?"

Katara and Sokka looked at Zuko as he pulled an envelope out. He slid it across the table towards Khari and nodded. Khari grabbed the envelope and noticed the White Lotus stamp. The one thing that caught her eye was how her name was written. She smiled, thinking about what he could have written. She really missed her Grandpa Aang. If he was still alive, she wouldn't have to deal with any of this. She felt everyone staring at her so she slowly opened up the letter.

Khari,

I, Avatar Aang in front of friends and loved ones would like to state that I want you Khari Beifong to assist in training the next avatar. You would be a great asset to them any way possible. You have potential to make them a strong avatar. If you have received this letter the White Lotus and our loved ones believe it is time. Please don't let me down. I believe in you. Your stubborn enough to be a great teacher.

Grandpa Aang (Witnessed by Councilman Sokka, Master Katara, Lord Zuko, Fire Lord Izumi, Kyoshi Warrior Suki, Chief of Police Toph Beifong)

Khari couldn't believe it. They were trying to pressure her by giving her this letter. Her Grandma Toph's name had to be stamped on the piece of paper. They couldn't even help her sign it. They knew what they were doing when they wrote this. They knew making Aang proud was what Khari strived for. She didn't even bother to look up at any of them because they knew that she would agree after reading the letter. Korra walked over to Khari and placed her hand on her arm. Khari reached around, grabbing her staff from her back. She extended it before she showed it to Korra. Katara smiled as Khari shrunk the staff enough for Korra to try and use it.

"Why don't we celebrate the fact you've come to stay here and that you will be training Korra. Korra's never really been to a party with other people. She is usually in the compound. I mean you guys do know people. One party can't hurt," Senna finally spoke.

"I don't know if that's such a good idea. You know why things are the way they are," Sokka said.

"Please Chief Sokka, just one party. Plus, if your niece is as good as you all say she is then we don't have a thing to worry about," Korra grinned.

"Oh, she's good. I would like to state that even with my true hatred for parties it would be the perfect opportunity to finally make Hikkari jealous. Maybe demonstrate for Korra a bit. I mean I'm finally skilled enough to do it and not get blood on a dress," Khari said enthusiastically as Izumi stared at her over her glasses. "Fine I'll behave. I guess a girl could dream about how she would torture her childhood bully."

Zuko chuckled a bit as Khari gave them a grin. He knew better than that. Khari and Hikkari would fight by the end of the night at any party. Everyone watched as Korra and Khari gave them the most innocent looks as Korra asked for a party again. Khari bent down and told Korra she had a plan. Khari strolled over to the member White Lotus that spoke to her about training Korra and whispered in his ear. She watched as he instantly paled. He turned to Khari before she told him to look at Korra and answer her about the party. He started to frantically nod, making Korra jump up and down. Korra grabbed Khari's hand, telling her she wanted to show her the hut that she would be living in. Khari laughed as she followed Korra. She looked back, smiling and waved to everyone. Khari noticed that they were going in the direction of her Gran Gran and Aunt Kya's huts. When the two girls got there Khari went to open the door but it was already opening before she could touch the handle. The two girls looked at each other before they walked in. They noticed that everyone waited for them in Khari's hut. Khari walked over to the royal siblings and pulled her Aunt Kya and Uncle Bumi with her. Suyin followed suite as Khari pushed the group in her room. She told them everything that happened during the meeting. She told them how she felt completely thrown off guard once they gave her the letter from her Grandpa Aang. She didn't understand how he could do that to her. Khari turned to stare at her closed bedroom door. She soon felt a hand on her back, making her turn around to see her Aunt Kya. They all informed her they would see her later that night at dinner. Khari started to unpack her bag. The first thing she did was put the picture of her with Aang and Katara on the nightstand next to her bed.

Three nights Later

It was now the night of the party. Khari overheard one of the White Lotus members mention earlier in the day how she would have to prove herself in the next few days. She didn't understand what she had to prove. She glanced up when she heard a knock at the door but turned her attention back to what she was doing. Her door opened and the women entered with stuff for Khari. Kimiko sat Khari down and put her hair in a bun, pulling down two small parts in the front. Khari was given a sleeveless blue dress. Khari gave them a confused look. They didn't expect her to wear a sleeveless dress here, did they? Kimiko held out skin tone leotard. Khari quickly put both the leotard and dress on. Korra giggled as Khari made a face at Kimiko as she applied her makeup. Kimiko sprayed a bit of perfume on Khari, making her sigh. The women stared at Khari for a bit, making her look around. She stared back at them a bit confused.

"What's everyone staring at?"

"You. You're really pretty," Korra said as she continued to stare at her.

Khari walked to the closest mirror and stared at herself. She never recognized herself when she was in a dress and makeup. She smiled at the reflection before she turned to everyone. When the women met up with the men Khari ran into the same issue. They all stared at her. It was starting to become a little weird with everyone staring at her every time they saw her. Khari felt for her staff and made sure her cables were tucked where no one could see them. When they got to the party Khari felt like she was at one of the social events from her childhood. She scanned the area to make sure it was safe but her eyes stopped. She grabbed onto Kimiko and Iroh, making them give her a concerned look. They saw that Khari was staring at the group of girls that had always picked on Khari. Only Hikkari's father and one of the girl's father sat on the council still. Mala had taken one of the seats and a man named Tarrlok had taken the other from what Khari was told.

"She's engaged now. Her father is in the Southern Water Tribe council seat. He moved here because he thought he was going to lose his seat to Tarrlok. He kept a seat on the council but Tarrlok got his old seat. Mala has had the Fire Nation seat for years and won again. She is a huge hit. Everyone loves her. Don't let her get under your skin," Kimiko whispered.

Khari gave Hikkari a weird look. Who would want to marry a spoiled brat like her? She rolled her eyes as she thought about the poor soul that could be stuck with her. She sighed as Hikkari and her friends made their way towards her. She pulled Iroh and Kimiko with her to try and get away from them. She groaned when she heard her name. She told Iroh and Kimiko to go stand with everyone. She didn't want them to get in trouble if anything got started. She turned around to see the smirk on Hikkari's face. Behave she told herself. Everyone at the party turned their attention to the group when Hikkari grabbed Khari's face and examined her like a prize. Khari clenched her fist before she unclenched them. Hikkari laughed a bit as Khari stared at her. Khari told them she would try her best but Hikkari always knew how to get under skin. Hikkari took a step closer to Khari but Khari stood taller. She wasn't about to let Hikkari intimate her like they were children again.

"Look, the freak finally came out of hiding. Where are your parent? Didn't they show up? What a shame? I mean you know the only reason we are here is to celebrate the fact you're going to be the avatar's new body guard. We all know the only reason you did get that spot is because your dead grandfather probably pulled some strings for you before he died. Your own parents don't want you so we know the White Lotus and avatar sure don't. Wake up and smell the flowers freak. No one wants you and the only reason things ever went your way was because of a man that has been dead for years," Hikkari tormented Khari.

Khari turned around so Hikkari wouldn't see the tears in her eyes. "That's not true. I'm not going to be some glorified body guard. I'm talented and that's why I'm going to train the avatar. Now leave me alone." Khari started to walk away but Hikkari grabbed her arm.

"What are you going to run away? Did Daddy teach you that trick? Or was that the last thing Avatar Aang showed you before he died?"

Khari bawled her fist before she turned, punching Hikkari in the face. Kimiko laughed as she gave her brother a slight shove. The two siblings laughed when Hikkari looked up. Hikkari swung at Khari but she slid to the side and grabbed her arm, pushing it behind her back. Khari slammed her to the ground, pushing Hikkari's arm up further. She soon felt a pop and Hikkari screamed. Hikkari managed to reach Khari's face with her good hand, scratching her. Khari grabbed her face, giving Hikkari the chance to shove her off. Hikkari started to shove Khari's face in the ground, so Khari couldn't see. Khari managed to grab her hand, bending it back. She took the opportunity to get up and turn around. She hit Hikkari in the face twice before she heard a crack. She soon saw the blood run from Hikkari's nose. She smiled down at Hikkari before she let go of her hand but when she turned her back, she sensed something. She shifted slightly, letting Hikkari fall on her face. As she walked towards her friends and family, she fixed her hair. She could see the displeased look on some of their faces.

"Oh, that was totally worth it. I would do it all over again. She deserved it for all the things she has ever put me through. She deserved it for what she just said. I'm not even close to sorry. In fact, I'm not sorry at all. This. This is why I hate parties. People like her who point out the fact I'm the freak of the family. The only earthbender out of all my siblings. The child to be rumored to be from an affair. Well, I'm not taking it anymore. Not from her and not from anyone else," Khari told them.

Izumi walked over to her, giving her a soft smile. She gently touched the scratches Khari's face before she hugged her. Khari placed her head on Izumi's shoulder before she started to cry. She felt Izumi rub her back and it made her think back to the last time Khari cried on her shoulder. She pulled away and Izumi wiped the tears out of her eyes. The two smiled at each other one more time before Izumi told her to go enjoy the party. She gave Izumi a weird look before she was turned around. It seemed that the party had continued after the fight. No one cared about what Hikkari had to say. It seems that Hikkari had been taken away to get treatment. Iroh held a hand towards her, making her smile a bit. She placed her hand in his and he guided her around the party. Their friends and family watched the two interact for a bit. Kya tormented Izumi about how she sees wedding plans in the near future. Izumi told her to zip it and let them be. Khari looked back at the group and waved. They smiled and waved at her. She looked up at Iroh as he told her stories about his training. She laughed a bit when he corrected one of her Uncle Bumi's stories. He started to take her around to meet some of the people at the party. She didn't realize how much she had missed since she had attended one of these. She felt someone staring at her so she started to look around. She saw Shen Tao staring at her and Iroh, making her smile and wave. They were soon approached by two familiar faces. She smiled at both as they came over to Iroh and Khari.

"So, I hear we have a hero here," Mala said.

"Noatak, are you telling stories too? Who is the hero here?" Iroh asked.

"You're girlfriend? She saved me, remember? Without her bringing me to Zaofu I'd be a dead man," Noatak informed them.

"Girlfriend? Woah, I'm not his girlfriend and I'm no hero. I just brought you back to Zaofu. Jia actually did the saving."

Noatak went on about how Khari should take a bit more credit than she was giving herself. She rolled her eyes before she looked at Iroh. Kimiko soon approached and joined the conversation. Khari began to tell them of her adventures since she left Kyoshi Island. She told them how weird Ba Sing Se could be. Then they joked about how they really weren't surprised considering who the ruler was. Khari laughed with her friends as they joked about everything. Khari missed these times with Iroh and Kimiko. They were both right maybe this party is what she needed. Khari could tell this was definitely something Korra needed. She still couldn't understand how they could keep her isolated in a compound. Khari soon started to get a strange feeling something was wrong. She started to scan the area, slowly watching each person. She slowly made her way to her Uncle Sokka and Lord Zuko. She gave them a look, letting them know she needed to speak with them privately. When the three were out of earshot Khari looked around one more time. The two men gave her a concerned look.

"We have to get Korra out of here. Something is wrong. I don't know what but something is wrong and I don't like it. I don't think it is safe for her to be here," Khari whispered.

The two men looked over Khari, staring at the young avatar. The three nodded in agreement before they made their way back to the party. The three informed Tonraq and Senna of what Khari felt was best for Korra. She promised she would take Korra and keep her safe without drawing any attention, then they could meet could meet up with her. Everyone nodded before Khari slowly made her way towards Korra. When she reached the avatar, she whispered in her ear that they had to leave and that she would explain later. Korra pouted a bit but followed Khari. Khari had her hand on Korra's back guiding her away from the party, occasionally glancing over her shoulder.

"Miss. Beifong, you wouldn't want the avatar to miss all the fun, would you? Plus, I really am gonna need her," Yun grinned,

Khari froze, grabbing Korra's shoulder. It couldn't be, she told herself. He had been locked up and couldn't get out. When she turned around, she saw both Yun and Zhen standing there. Everyone stepped aside as Khari stared the two down. She thanked the spirits she had hidden her weapons and cables in case anything happened. Others were about to step in but stepped down when they heard Suyin and Izumi mentioned that Khari could handle the situation. Zhen sent metal strips in Khari and Korra's direction, making Khari grab Korra before she spun around. She felt a small pain in her face from one of the strips cutting her. Korra ran to her parents as Khari pulled her shortened staff out from a section of her dress. Iroh laughed a bit as Khari made her staff its usual length. Yun ran towards Khari but she didn't move until he got closer to her. She spun behind him and slammed her staff into his side. He soon fell to the ground, holding his side. She saw that Zhen was sending his cables in her direction. She tried to avoid it but he managed to grab her ankle, pulling her back. He threw her back a few feet but she wasn't going to let that stop her. She used her staff to stand again, only to see that Yun was now standing. She waited until they moved but the two stared at her. She sent her cables for Zhen and slammed him into Yun. She sprinted towards the two before they could get up. Before she could reach them, Yun stood. Khari tried to stop but slid on the snow, giving Yun the perfect chance to grab her. He laughed as he grabbed Khari's throat and lifted her. Suyin grabbed onto Kya's arm and watched. Khari didn't show Yun any fear. She knew that was exactly what he wanted. She bit her lip, making it bleed before she spit in his face. He laughed before he slammed her on the ground. She groaned a bit but she still refused to show any fear. He moved close to her face, giving Khari the chance to try and defend herself. She raised her hand and scratched his face. Yun pulled away and screamed as he covered his face. Khari kicked him in the chest as she tried to get away from him. She grabbed her staff but Yun kicked her legs from under her. He took a foot and started to step on one side of Khari's ribs. It started to hurt more and more as he applied more pressure.

"Zhen, you know what to do. Let me finish playing with my favorite toy and I'll catch up."

Khari turned her head, staring at Korra. She sent her cables towards Zhen as Yun pushed against her ribs harder. She wrapped her cable around his wrist but she soon felt her ribs crack making her pull her arms back in pain. Zhen flew back with her cables, slamming into Yun. Khari pushed herself off the ground, grabbing her staff again. When she was close enough, she swung her staff, hitting Zhen. She moved her staff quickly, hitting Yun in the back as he tried to get up. She split her staff in two, hitting the brothers in the head. Khari saw Yun pull a small knife out of his jacket. He swung it at her but she put her staff up. He tried to cut her again but Khari hit the knife with her staff again. He lunged at her, making the two fall to the ground. When the two didn't move from the ground Iroh, Bumi, Sokka, and Tonraq ran over to see if Khari was okay. When they moved Yun, they saw he had been stabbed by his own knife and Khari simply stayed where she was. Zhen looked up to see Yun on the ground. He crawled over to him with tears in his eyes. Iroh held Khari but she looked over at Jia. She could never imagine what Jia was going through. Watching her brothers do this not once but twice. Now she watched her own bother die. Khari didn't know why but something still felt off. Like Yun and Zhen weren't really the issue. Khari got up and started to walk amongst the guest. She knew they were all staring at her but she didn't care. She felt someone grab her arm, making her turn around.

"I guess if you want something done the right way you have to do it yourself. Well almost yourself. Someone is quiet interested in you Miss. Beifong. Enough to hire people to get you. My fiancée was too stupid to distract you long enough for someone to grab you. Those two idiots tried to kill you. Looks like you and I will be leaving this party together," a man whispered in her ear.

She knew she didn't have the strength to fight someone else. She started to look around until she found the perfect person. She gave her the same look she gave her grandfather whenever she was scared. Korra started to tug on everyone's outfits to get their attention and pointed at Khari. Khari looked over at Iroh as she was pulled by what she now knew was Hikkari's fiancé. Iroh, Shen Tao, Tonraq, and Sokka got into their fighting positions before the man could get Khari any further. He pulled Khari close to his body and pulled a syringe out. Kya, Izumi, and Suyin joined the men but Hikkari's fiancé didn't budge.

"Ah ah, let's not do anything stupid here. If you stay where you are she leaves unharmed, but if you take a step towards us this will be the last time you see those beautiful green eyes of hers. Now come Miss. Beifong, we must be going."

He kept the needle near Khari as he pulled her with him. Khari stared at everyone before she looked back Hikkari's fiancé. She stomped on his foot and elbowed him in the ribs. She felt a sharp pain in her side. She saw Shen Tao and her Aunt Suyin pull Hikkari's fiancé but not before he injected her with whatever was in the syringe. Khari grabbed her side as she took a few steps forward. She pulled the syringe out of her side and stared at it. She looked up for a minute to see the look on everyone's faces. When she took her next step, she started to fall to the ground but Iroh rush over to catch her. She smiled at him as they stayed on the ground. She saw the tears running down his cheeks. She wiped them away and moved her head tighter against his body.

"I'm not dying. Stop acting like I'm going to die. I didn't wait all this time to see you just to die. I promise I'll be fine, I'm just a little sleepy."

"Khari! Khari, don't close your eyes! Open your eyes!"

Katara, Kya, and Jia ran over to Khari as Iroh continued to yell at her. Jia took the syringe to see if she could tell what was in it. Katara and Kya started to see if they could figure out what was wrong. The two looked at each other after a few minutes of working on Khari. They started to laugh a bit, making everyone give them a concerned look. Jia started to sniff the needle but she soon started to laugh. Everyone stared at the three women as they laughed.

"He was just trying to scare us. She is going to be fine. The reason she is tired is he mixed some stuff around to knock her out for a bit. He probably would have given it to her even if we let them go. She's just got a couple scratches and a few cracked ribs. She has seen worse." Katara informed them.

Iroh lifted Khari from the ground and had Kimiko follow him. Korra started to follow but Iroh asked her to stay. Kimiko gave Iroh a look as they entered Khari's hut. Iroh laid Khari on her bed and covered her before he turned to Kimiko. He covered his mouth and punched the wall next to the two. Kimiko smiled briefly before she glanced over at Khari. Her expression soon changed, making Iroh turn around. They both watched as the blood ran from Khari's nose and a bit from her mouth.

"Get Katara and Kya. Now, Kimiko!"
