Now that's out of the way, which games did I mention in this chapter?
Playing more games with my family, it is a lot of fun playing with my family. I play this game where I have to pop all the balloons. You get a gun that shoot a rope upward to the top. You can pop the balloons with the rope with the pointed top bit. There are power-ups that help you. There're the stop time one where it stops all the balloons for a while, a blue shield that protect you from the balloons once, a powerful power-up that get rid of all the balloons, a special gun that shoot in big area really quickly (best power-up) and a special rope that stick to the top. Me and my family laugh when we see my 1-up guy falls down backward when I get hit by the balloon.
Me and my sister are playing two players on this very hard game. This game is so hard that we can't beat it. There are two modes for two players; one where we don't hit each other and the other one where we can hit each other. We don't pick the one where we can hit each other because we can easily lose all our lives and continues that way. We work together to beat the pig bad guys. We make it to the end of the first level where we face with a boss. We laugh when we see the funny faces the frogs make when they see the big boss. They are both scared of him. The boss is a big rock pig that can flatten us by walking over us. We laugh when we see how flat and funny the frogs look when they get squished. My sister wants to know how I am able to do those special attacks. Huh? I thought she knew, you just do special attacks every time you hit the boss. The special attacks are when the frogs change their normal attacks into special attacks like a saw or a big boot or a goat horn or lots of other things. We both work together to beat the boss. The next level is where we fly down the tree on the flying platform. You have to beat the bad guys before you can carry on going down. Near the end it gets very hard because the level goes very fast and we have to avoid the wooden spikes. Next it's the bonus level where we collect these bowling things to get enough points to get 1-ups. The next level is the one we both can't do. We ride the very fast flying cars across the level. We have to avoid the stone walls by moving to the right side or by jumping over them. We laugh when we hit the stone walls. It's very funny how sometime they fly across or turn into a small round things when they crashed. Whenever one of us loses a life, we both have to start back at the start or at the checkpoints we passed. We give up because we keep losing all our lives and continues on this level. Even if I play it on one player, I still can't beat that stage. One great thing is that you can pick which frog you want to play just by using control 1 or 2.
My family brought me this game. The hero on the cover of the game reminds me of Mario with that hat. I play it but couldn't get past the first level. My mum helps me and shows me how to play it. You have to keep going and collect lots of fruits. You can also get weapons by collecting them. There are two different weapons; a boomerang and a small hammer. I prefer the boomerang because it throws straight ahead instead of over and down like the small hammer. You can only throw them one at a time but when you collect another weapon, you get to throw two of them at the same time. The third time you get a powerful weapon and it looks cool. I think you need to collect the same weapon in order to get this powerful weapon. There's also a skateboard power-up where he rides on the skateboard across the level. You have to be careful because you can't go backward and you can't stop. When you get hit, you lose the power-up. I always try my best to finish the level with the skateboard. I find it funny how the hero trips over the rock. The only problem is that he loses a yellow square when you do that. You can get rid of this rock with the powerful weapons. Oh yeah, you keep losing yellow squares throughout the level. There are 16 of them and you can get some back by getting the fruits. I think the yellow squares show how hungry he is. You'll lose a life if all the yellow squares are gone or you get hit once by the bad guys. There's a secret thing in the second level where it takes you to a special stage. You need to jump in the right place to find this thing. I use the big jump to find it (to get the big jump, you need to press down and then the jump button. He does a cool jump). The special stage is the night sky full of stars and the stage is full of bouncing things. You have to follow each of the bouncing things by jumping onto them. If you collect all the foods, you'll get a 1-up. The last food is always the milk bottle, the same milk bottle I saw the hero holding on the cover of the game.
I'm in a place at night. The moon and stars are out and I see a boy and girl on top of the small mountain (which I thought was a tree). The girl loves the boy and the boy loves the girl. The girl is hugging onto the boy while the boy is scratching his head. A purple clothes bad guy on a flying broomstick flies to them. I can't see his face properly, only his eyes and mouth. He cast magic at the girl, turning her to stone. I am scared, the girl who was living turned into an empty stone. Is she even okay?! The boy looks and sees his girl turned to stone. He sees the bad guy who laughs and flies away. The boy is not happy about it. A big bird flies in and grabs the boy. The big bird then flies toward me and grabs me too. We fly over to what looks like a beach. The big bird drops us. We fall down onto the beach. I land on the boy. We both get up and the boy waves hello to me. I follow him across the beach. This reminds me of the game I played, even the boy and girl look like the ones on the cover of that game. The boy picks up the small hammer and uses it to beat the bad guys. I don't see the bad guys as they look like rocks. They are actually shell bad guys. We pick up fruits and I ride the skateboard with the boy. We jump over the rocks and shell bad guys, and beat up the flying dinosaur-like bad guys on balloons using the boomerang that we just collected. We make it to the end where we trip and fall while getting the red round thing with a yellow star. I wonder what that's for.
We go through the jungle where we fight more bad guys. We fight scary mask bad guys with spears, flying bugs with spears, little bugs that flying around and are hard to hit, and the shell bad guys. We jump across the water and use flying rock platforms to get across the big holes. We find a secret thing that takes us to a different place. It's like that special stage from the game. We bounce across the bouncing things, collecting the foods. Coming back down, we carry on through this place until we find the red round thing with the yellow star (which is at the end).
We go into the mountain where there're lavas and falling big rocks that roll down the hills. There're candle bad guys with eyes that make a scary face when the fire on their heads go big, and little black ball bad guys that have eyes and jump across the floor. They are very hard to hit because they're small and won't stop moving. We jump over rocks, jump across the moving platforms and floating rocks, and climb up the mountain to reach the end. I keep hearing a fun music when I go through these places.
We run through the blue room where we meet with the boss of this place. It's a scary statue with a hand with a face on it. The hand spits out two ghosts that try to hit us by flying at us. They always stay at the top of us. The head spits out fire that spread across the floor. I stay far away and watch the boy fights the boss. I make sure to move away from the fire. The boy waits for the boss to spit out fire. When the boss does that, the boy jumps over the fire and throws his weapon at the boss' head. The boy duck down to avoid the ghosts flying down at him. The boy keeps fighting the boss until the boss changes colour. That must means that we nearly beaten the boss. The hand spits out another ghost. This looks really dangerous now. The boy keeps doing the same thing until he beaten the boss. The boss' head and hand fall down onto the floor. They move their lips as if saying 'We lost and we fell to pieces.' I laugh at that.
The big bird takes us to a different place. This time the big bird drops us onto the ground and not in the sky. This place looks like a holiday place that I saw in cartoons. There the water over there and plants and trees over here. I can hear nice music that makes me want to lie down on the sand. I follow the boy through this place. We have to be careful of the bad guys. There're the blue penguins that fly right at us, flying flat brown things that spin around through the air and a bad guy hiding behind a shield. We use the skateboard to quickly get to the end but we lose it when we trip over the bad guy with the shield. We quickly run to the end to collect the star ball. I wonder…is all those star ball things needed to help free the girl? Will it change her back to normal?
I carry on following the boy. We are on the grass and there are funny shaped trees. We use the small platforms to get across the water. There is a lot of water here and we don't want to fall in. We fight more penguins and shell bad guys. There are big round flying brown animals that slowly fly in the air. I think they can fly because they are flapping their arms like birds. We carefully jump across the small platforms over the water while beating the bad guys in our way. Getting to the end is hard as a lot of penguins show up and fly at us to knock us out. Luckily, the boy beats them before they can hit us.
After getting the star ball, we take the boat out onto the water. A big whale jumps out and eats us up. I couldn't swim and I can't see where I am going. I feel someone grabbing me. I look and see the boy. I know it's him as I can see the colour of his hat. I see dangerous fishes that shoot electricity in all directions and round brown things. The boy beats them with his weapons. We have to beat the dangerous fishes or else they will follow us and try to shoot us.
We swim around the dangerous black exploding balls. There is a big blue fish-like bad guy with a big head and big arm. We move out of the way to avoid his big arm. The boy throws his hammers at the bad guy's head. The big fish-like bad guy spits out little fishes at us. We dodge them and keep hitting him in the head. We keep doing this until we beat him.
The big bird drops us in front of a very big tree with a face on him. It looks like there is nowhere to go but up. I try to climb up but I keep falling down. I can't climb up tree. The boy helps me and carries me up the tree by jump up the tree's branches. We find hidden fruits in the tree. We can find them by throwing our weapons at them to make them appear. This is very useful as we need the fruits to keep going. There are little bug bad guys, flying bugs with spears and shell bad guys in the tree. We beat them as we make our way to the top of the tree.
We are now in a scary looking woods. How did we get from the top of the tree to here? I can't see properly because of the smokes. We quickly make our way across as the flying dinosaur bad guys come down with their balloons. There are scary dragon looking ghosts that chase after us. I don't think normal weapons would beat those ghosts. We quickly get on the skateboard and skate away from the bad guys. We get away from the bad guys but then crash into the bad guys wearing masks. We beat the mask bad guys and quickly run across to avoid the flying bad guys. We beat another mask bad guy and quickly grab the star ball.
We go inside the cave where we beat the small round jumping bad guys. We jump in the car and ride it down. The boy helps me to jump out of the car as it falls down the hole. We climb up the hill, being carefully as the small round bad guys and a candle bad guy jump down toward us. The boy does a big jump and throws his weapons at the bad guys to beat them. We go into another car which takes us across. We jump out and climb another hill while beating the candle bad guys that are jumping down at us. We jump into another car that takes us to the end of the cave.
We fall down onto the floor. The floor then turns into a dragon. The dragon moves upward and then across. We move toward the dragon's head and hit the dragon's head which makes him go faster. We make sure to stay on the dragon as we don't want to fall off into the lava at the bottom. We follow the dragon's head while avoiding the lava that comes out of the wall. I nearly burn myself. We keep hitting him until he turns to stone.
We are drop off into the desert. We run across, beating the dinosaur bad guys and the flying bugs. There are shield bad guys which are very dangerous. To beat them we need to wait for them to throw their spears and hit them while their shields are out of the way. We can avoid their spears by ducking down. We find another skateboard and skate across to the end. We trip and lose our skateboard when we jumped over the shield bad guy and into the wall. We carry on walking and find the star ball.
Next we are climbing up the mountain. This is easy than the tree. But this mountain is very dangerous as there are lots of bad guys on it. These scary bone guys are very hard. I think it would take two normal weapons to beat them. Luckily, the boy has the powerful weapon so he can beat them with one hit. We climb up the mountain, beating bug bad guys and dinosaur bad guys. We quickly make our way to the top. I look down and see the bone bad guys jumping up the mountain after us. They can jump really high. I do not like it when they are chasing us, they are scary. The boy grabs me and we jump over to the star ball and grab it.
We fall down into the water. The boy helps me to swim across. This is just like the time when we got eaten by the whale. We swim across while beating the bad guys. We make it to a scary place where we fight a big bone boss with a pink sword. To beat him we need to get him to hit us with his sword. Once his sword is down, we need to jump high and throw the weapon at his head. This will cause him to fall to piece on the floor. He puts himself back together and carries on fighting us. We also need to dodge his sword when he tries to hit us. This boss keeps moving toward us, never walking backward. He forces us to go back every time he goes forward. We beat him just in time as we were nearly pushed back into the water that we came out of. We were nearly blocked between the boss and the water.
The next place is very cold and full of snows. It's hard to move as we keep sliding across the floor. There are a lot of penguins here. We dodge the penguins and walk across the hills. We beat a mask bad guy and get the skateboard. We don't go far as we crash right onto the penguin. We carefully make our way across, beating the mask bad guys, penguins and a shield bad guy. We make it to the castle.
It is very dark in here. We throw our weapons everywhere, hitting any bad guys hiding in the dark. We have to be careful as there are spikes on the floor. I keep crashing into walls and tripping over the floor. We get the star ball and go into a room that isn't dark. Now I can move without any accidents. There are lots and lots of bad guys in here. We follow the path over the hill and then straight up. We use the flying platforms to get to the top. Dragon ghosts and candle bad guys try to stop us as we make our way to the top. At the beginning of this room we were attacked by small round bad guys. We make it to the top where we grab the star ball and go into the door.
It's that bad guy, the one who turned the girl to stone! We dodge him as he runs around. He stops and throws spells from his big head. One of the spells hits the boy and slowly turns him to stone. Oh no! What should we do?! The boy breaks free from the stone and fights the bad guy. Phew, I'm glad he is okay. I don't want him to turn to stone. After several hits, the bad guy disappears leaving his clothes on the floor. He flies up from his clothes. I think he turned into an angel with that wings and ring on his head. He then flies toward us.
Next thing we knew, he flies back but is now a big flying pink monster with a big nose and small wings. We try to hit him with our weapons but the weapons are doing nothing to him. How are we going to beat him?! We move out of the way as he jumps down on us. He misses us and hits the floor. We keep running away as he tries to squash us. The boy tries again to hit the bad guy with his weapons, it is still no good. He dodges the bad guy as the bad guy tries to squash him. As the bad guy flies back up, I see the floor falling down. I think he broke the floor. I look down through the hole and see fire. I then know how we can beat him. I go over to boy and quickly tell him to get the bad guy to break the floor. The boy does as I said and gets the bad guy to break the floor. The bad guy keeps attacking the boy until he breaks through the floor and into the fire.
We get out and make our way back. The girl is back to normal and she takes the boy to the beach where they are hugging each other. I smile and make my way back home. While in the big hall of my school, I imagine hearing that music and seeing that boy skateboarding across the back of the hall.
So the games I had been playing are Super Pang, Battletoads and Super Adventure Island on the Super Nintendo. I thought Super Pang would have been fun if it was 2 players but it was only 1 player. I thought it was 2 players because of the cover on the game but we can't get 2 players on it (or was it we can't play 2 players together?).
I was able to get far in Battletoads. I made it past the air car stage and went on to the snakes stage... Then I lost on that stage. After several weeks, I tried again and made it past the air car stage again and then completed the snakes stage after memorised the snakes' patterns. Then I lost the next stage because I had no idea how to do it! It was the moving vehicle one where you must escape the blade saw that is chasing you. I kept getting slice in half at the very beginning! I did not like that, especially the gruesome slice in half part, that scared me!
The world I found myself in is Super Adventure Island. Took me a lot of practises but I was able to beat the game.
