Epilogue - The Empire of House
10,000 years later...
The Empire was all the Milky Way had ever known.
The Immortal Emperor House ruled over all. And truthfully, his was a benevolent rule: he did not interfere in their personal lives and demanded only that they pay taxes and follow the law. All species were equal - humans had had it drilled into them that they were NOT superiors. The Planet of the Brotherhood was the crown jewel of the Empire's religious institutions.
And soon, they would head to Andromeda.
House reflected on the past 10,000 years as the engineers made the final adjustments to the Generation Ships. All of this was possible because of the First Emperor. Because of that lone, insignificant courier who had walked into the Lucky 38 so very long ago. Even after all this time, had had not forgotten her.
Nor had the Empire forgotten her, either. He had seen to that personally. There were statues of her in every city and thousands of planets named after her. An astonishing 21% of women in the empire were named Gabriela. And her name was drilled into the minds of children from the moment that they entered school.
It was all thanks to her, and he would NEVER forget that.
"I miss you, Gabriela."
