Rodney remembers life in his eyes, dancing like a flame in the early morning light as they sat up, watching the fire burn out.
Rodney remembers life's flame fading in and out till it was gone completely, a empty vessel left behind and nothing more.
Rodney remembers the last moments of peace. Sitting beside him just a little to close watching the flames of the fire dance across his face as the sun rose. A companionable silence over them as the fire crackled.
Rodney remembers nothing but the life gone, hallow eyes staring at him as blood seeped through fingers.
