Jaune was understandably nervous, whatever this initiation was the results of it would no doubt dictate his future.

"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."

Hearing this Jaune felt a bit of guilt creep into him, he hadn't trained, he hadn't spent his childhood studying for this. But he shoved that guilt away, if he could make it here at Beacon, be as strong as the other students, be as smart as his brother and as brave as his father, then how he got here didn't matter! All that mattered was the results!

"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumours about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today."

With this statement Jaune's nervousness grew, he didn't really know who would be in his team despite his efforts nobody seemed too interested. Granted he only really asked Weiss but that still meant zero, at least Yoshi would join him, after all why wouldn't his brother want to be on his team?

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well."

Jaune at least got a small boost of confidence upon hearing this, he was sure that he would work well with Yoshi, that would no doubt but them at an advantage compared To the rest of the students.

"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

And just like that, any confidence he had was shattered, any hopes he had being partners with his brother were gone.

"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die"

Now Jaune was staring to get scared, why did Ozpin have word it like that? How many initiates had died before? Surely none had, this was just a school, they wouldn't actually be fighting live Grimm yet? But the headmaster had said opposition… Jaune couldn't help but let out a nervous chuckle, everything was going to be fine, he had a sword, a shield and armour, he would probably get a partner too, he should be ok. But even in his mind Jaune couldn't really convince himself.

"You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

Uh, yeah, a large number of questions were currently whirring about in Jaune's mind.

So he put his hand up "Yeah, um, sir?"

"Good! Now, take your positions." Jaune swore he could see the phantom of a smile form on Ozpin's lips as he said this.

"Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question. So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha-what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?" Jaune asked becoming more than a little angry at being ignored.

"No. You will be falling." Ok now Jaune was sure he was smiling, but that wasn't important, what did he mean to by falling?

Then it's all suddenly clavicles in Jaune's mind "Oh, uh, I see... So, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?" He felt proud of himself for being able to catch on.

"No. You will be using your own 'landing strategy.' " Ozpin replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Now Jaune was panicking how was he supposed to survive a fall like that? Was this something they were taught at combat schools?

His attention was caught by Kira putting a hand on his shoulder "just use your aura Jaune, you should be fine". Jaune looked up to see Kira's reassuring eyes, but they did very little to reassure him because there was one small problem.

Jaune knew what aura was, he just didn't see how it was relevant, it was just some thing dad had given Yoshi to help him heal, at least that's what he had been told…"Is aura really necessary for this?" Jaune asked in a subdued voice looking at Kira with an almost fearful look.

Kira was now giving him him one of the most intense stares he had seen from him, his hand no longer on his shoulder, he could almost feel the raging emotions oozing out of Kira despite his face only showing a slither of it. Jaune had seen this face before, only at times when he had really fucked up.

"Jaune! how th-" fortunately for Jaune the verbal lashing Kira was about to give him was cut short as Kira was launched into the forest below. Unfortunately for him that meant it was his turn.

As Kira flew through the air panic rippled through him. As he angled himself in Doves direction he still couldn't believe what he had heard. Jaune had decided to go to a hunter school without aura. It really was something only he was capable of, Kira was thankful that it had been revealed there, the headmaster had no doubt heard their conversation and hadn't activated Jaune's launch pad he should be fine. At least Kira hoped he would, after all it would be rather inconvenient if he died.

Kira materialised Killer Queens arms and had them support him as he grabbed onto a large branch, it buckling under his weight allowing him to slide down it and drop to the ground.

Dusting himself off Kira looked around trying to orient himself among the trees, he knew he had landed near Dove he had made sure of it.

He had decided to hide the 'material' part of Killer Queen, the stands physical manifestation, not only would it give him a possible advantage if others didn't know about it. Just having Killer Queen out would no doubt draw far too much attention onto him, he would just have to rely on his aura to block his attacks he hadn't used it much but he is sure it should protect him well enough.

As he looked about he saw a singular, large,, slash down an ancient looking tree. He walked over to investigate it, it was circular, curving around and down the tree it was also seemed fresh as he put to fingers on the gash and traced up it his fingers became sticky with sap leaking out it. Kira had no doubt that this was where Dove had landed, the only thing left to do now was to actually figure out where he went.

As Kira let his thoughts over take him, trying to figure out the most logical place for Dove to go he was slashed at in the arm by a prowling Beowolf, his light pink aura flaring up in protection, Kira was knocked back landing against the tree. His mind racing, he searched for his assailant locking eyes with the beowolf, it's profile low and teeth bared. Kira straightened himself out and settled into a lower posture, arms spread ready to dodge. He had already underestimated the Grimm by being careless, he wasn't going to do it again.

The beowolf tightened its muscles and raised its hind, lowering its front, with a snarl it leapt right for Kira.

"I still don't see why you went through all the effort just for that boy Ozpin." Glynda just couldn't understand why Ozpin had went through all the hoops and hurdles he had just so that Yoshikage boy to attend the school, even letting him through on an academic scholarship after much negotiating, apparently the boy had been a pain when they tried to iron out the finer details. Did Beacon even do academic scholarship's? She hadn't heard about one before, it was a combat school after all.

"It was a tough decision, I was hoping he would have been happy to come here."Ozpin said with a hint of regret.

"Ozpin that still doesn't tell me why you did it!" Glynda replied, her words sounding sharp like a stinger.

Flinching from the bite in Glynda's voice Ozpin gave in "truthfully I did it out of fear, fear of what would have happened if someone else got to him first.."

"And just what would they want from him? He's just some boy! How do you even know they would!" Glynda's patience, like usual was one thread away from snapping.

"Yes he is just a boy, but even without any real training that semblance of his has truly terrifying potential, truthfully I took him here for his own protection."

"Ozpin… are you going to tell me just what it is?" Glynda said with a resigned sigh, haven given up trying to get a straight answer out is Ozpin.

"Why don't you see for yourself? It looks like he's encountered a bit of opposition."

As the beowolf launched its attack, Kira moved to the right, but kept his hand out high up in line with the beowolf. As the beowolf past near his hand he clamped it down on the beowolf's bone mask and a click resounded through the beowolf seemed to pause for a split second. Then it's flesh began to contort and move as the energy from within traveled outwards. The beowolf's skin broke and it's mask split apart as the explosion enveloped it before dissipating, leaving no trace that it was there.

Kira let a small smile grace his lips blowing up anything like that with Killer Queen always brought him a bit of joy and it had been far to long since he had done it to something living, even if the Grimm weren't truly alive.

"Holy shit man!" Turing his head Kira spotted Dove standing up the hill, away from him "was that your semblance or something?" He asked with a hint of amazement.

"Yes, yes it is I can tell you all about it later if you would like" Kira told him. He had decided he would let his team in on some of the finer details of his stands power, it would no doubt help him in the future if they knew the extent of its capabilities.

Dove ran down to Kira and forced him into a handshake "so it looks like we are partners after all some luck isn't it?"

Kira let out a small chuckle "I suppose so, after all luck is always on the side of Yoshikage Arc"

"Right… anyway I've already been greeted by a few of the locals as well so we should probably get moving" Dove told him.

Kira nodded to him "I saw a glimpse of the temple while I was falling, I believe I know it's general location."

"Well it better than anything I've got, lead the way" Dove said with a shrug of his shoulders

This chapter took so long for a few reasons one of which was that I didn't really want to do it the initiation in RWBY was ok, in my opinion it wasn't anything special but it wasn't bad by any means. But I do feel that most fanfic's don't write it very well, I doubt I have. So I didn't really want to do it and that lack of motivation translated to about a paragraph a week. In fact I had intended to have the initiation all in one chapter and even further back I had intended to have the Initiation in the last chapter.

I'm not sure what possessed me to put the Jaune section of this chapter I guess I wanted to expand on his relationship with Kira before the story takes more on a focus onto Kira and his team.

And as for the section with Ozpin and Glynda the first chapter left a bad taste in my mouth of how I portrayed Ozpin, I didn't really give him much of a motive for pretty much forcing Kira to attend, mostly because I didn't intend to make a story out of it. So I decided I to try and remedy it a little although I still haven't decided on how I will expand on what was said.
