An unusual Inuyasha cross in which Fem Harry is an ADOPTED Potter and all sorts of headaches ensue for everyone involved.

"Rose...there's something you should know. You're not a Potter by blood."

Rose stared at her godfather, shocked.

"What?"

"James had a potion accident our sixth year. It prevented him from ever having kids. When he told Lily, they agreed to adopt a magical child into the Potter family and raise it as their own," continued Sirius.

Rose was numb. She wasn't a Potter? Then what was she?

"I don't know much... I know they went to Japan, and that you had some connection to a shrine run by the Higurashi family, but that was as much as they told me. After they adopted you, your features changed to hide the truth, but never doubt this pup... James and Lily loved you as if you were their own flesh and blood, even to the last."

That had been two weeks ago, and Rose was still reeling from the information. Petunia hadn't needed much convincing to help her get a passport or make sure she made it directly to the closest airport to the shrine. Thanks to a few language lozenges, she was more or less fluent in Japanese, and it would only get more proficient the more she used it around native speakers.

She dumped most of her trunk into her vaults save for the essentials, to cut down on what she had to carry. It had been a bigger pain convincing the muggles to ignore Hedwig and she had to lie through her teeth and used a charmed parchment to make them believe Hedwig was a support animal just to get her through security.

As the cab dropped her off outside the shrine steps, she took a deep breath.

This was it. The one key piece of information she had about her origins.

The family at the top of the shrine was a little cagey until she explained the situation. About fifteen to sixteen years ago, someone from that shrine had left an infant in the care of a reputable orphanage.

They had kept tabs on who she was adopted out to should she show up and they explained the...unusual...way they had found her.

The deceased husband of the daughter had heard an infant crying in a well that had been abandoned for well over a century. The most baffling thing was that the well in question was firmly sealed off to prevent accidents and for liability reasons. It wasn't like the thing had ever held water after all. So you could imagine his confusion hearing a baby crying inside the thing.

It had taken him thirty minutes to get a ladder long enough and to carefully bring her out. Since they had just had their own child, they couldn't afford a second one so soon...hence why they took it to the orphanage.

"So... you're the child that appeared in the Bone Eater's well," said the priest.

"I suppose. I only found out I was adopted recently, after my godfather was killed. He said that if I wanted answers, then to go to Japan and look up the Higurashi Shrine," she said calmly.

Apparently the oldest grandchild of the priest had begun traveling to and from the past, after being dragged into the well. The mother would feel a lot better if Kagome (the grandchild) had someone else to back her up.

She was desperate to find out who she really was and why she was in that well, so the arrangement worked out perfectly. Especially considering she had ditched England without telling anyone. Hedwig, for reasons known only to her, clung closely to her shirt to the point it drew a little blood on her claws.

Without much thought, she jumped into the well. There was a strange sensation of magical travel and falling...and a sense of 'coming home' in a way.

It took every instinct she had to avoid being crashed into by a girl her own age.

The two of them stared at each other.

"...Who are you?" asked the girl.

"Are you Kagome?" she asked. The girl nodded. "Ask your mother and grandfather about the other girl in the well...they should explain a few things."

Very confused, Kagome waited until the other girl was up a bit further before trying again, this time getting through. She came back a few hours later with a fully packed backpack and a very confused look on her face.

By that time, the other girl had had a chat with the local Miko regarding the well...and what she had to say about the matter was about as enlightening as her chat with the Higurashi family.

"Wait...so a pair of demon slayers came by the village about a decade and a half ago, dumped an infant down the well and had to vacate the area very quickly afterwards?" said Kagome.

"Indeed. There was suspicions about the child's nature, and it was deemed that the well was a good way to test it. I'm guessing something happened, because they fled rather quickly in short order," said Kaede.

Kagome was appalled. The other girl was indifferent...she had always been the unwanted child, so why should now be any different.

"That reminds me, I never got your name," said Kagome.

"I haven't given it. Call me Rose," she replied. "And this is my familiar Hedwig."

"Familiar?" said Kagome.

"I'm a witch," explained Rose.

Kagome had an expression of relief on her face.

"Oh thank kami... You have no idea what a pain it's been trying to keep the fact I can use magic secret...then again, I completely forgot my wand the first time I had come here because it was so sudden."

"If it helps I can be your study partner. I just ended my fifth year at Hogwarts," said Rose. Kagome perked up that.

Kagome went to find Inuyasha, because he had been hurt by that demon with the hair fetish a few days ago. She found him having a weird staring contest with the owl.

"Dammit!" he swore, finally blinking.

"Prek," said Hedwig smugly. Kagome was highly amused, as was Rose.

"So what's with the other woman?" demanded Inuyasha.

"My name is Rose and I'll be joining you," she said simply. She had taken the time to get the full story from Kaede, since Kagome had been gone a few hours.

"It seems Rose has a connection to this time period," said Kagome.

Inuyasha eyed Rose dubiously. He couldn't figure out why, but there was something ridiculously familiar about her. Which was weird, he would have remembered with someone who had eyes like that. Besides, her scent reeked of an Alpha, and he was barely maintaining his dominance over Kagome who had a much weaker Alpha scent. He was acutely aware he was a beta, and he didn't want to appear weak by answering to a female...and a human at that.

Elsewhere...

Sesshomaru was in a foul mood. He still hadn't found his father's tomb and he was becoming impatient.

He could care less about inheriting Tensaiga...he just didn't want to deal with some random demon stealing his father's greatest legacy. Never mind the sheer mess that was his half-brother, or the miko he had gotten involved with.

Sesshomaru had visited the tree briefly and confirmed he had merely been sealed, not killed. Inuyasha was an utter fool and an embarrassment.

So much so Sesshomaru didn't hesitate to reprimand Jaken for bringing his idiot brother up.

He really did not want to visit Inuyasha if he could absolutely avoid it. It had been bad enough losing... no. He refused to remember it, even if he still carried the sword with him. He refused to use it, as it was not his to bear.

Still, perhaps father left a clue with his idiot brother. It would bear looking into.

There was something about Sesshomaru that prevented Rose from hexing him like she would have anyone else. A sense of familiarity, home and belonging she couldn't quite explain. Sesshomaru had caught the scent of someone nearby, but Rose had been so freaked out over the overwhelming scent in the air she had pulled out her cloak an disappeared under it. Hedwig stayed firmly away from the demon, as she wasn't stupid enough to attack him or his minion.

Sesshomaru kept trying to track the odd scent, but was unable to locate it as Rose stayed behind a tree.

When he took the pearl from Inuyasha's eye, Rose almost broke from her hiding spot. When he clambered into the swirling vortex of energy, Rose was the first one to follow him. She needed to follow him.

Something in her blood was singing, calling to her. Urging her to follow the older youkai. She knew instinctively she would regret it if she ignored this feeling.

"Woman, what the hell were you thinking?" demanded Inuyasha, as they managed to catch up to her. He saw the expression in her eyes and shut up. He knew this was important to her, but she couldn't explain why.

At least she had her enchanted sword. It had been such a pain hiding it from customs too...

Sesshomaru's eyes were narrowed on her, barely paying any attention to Inuyasha or his current lover. This was the mystery scent that was driving him crazy earlier.

Unlike the other female, he did not entirely dismiss this woman as 'weak'. There was an inner strength in her that she could not quite hide. And why should she?

Sesshomaru put his hand on the hilt of his father's sword. He must judge if Inuyasha was worthy of his father's most powerful fang. The moment he touched Tessaiga, it rejected him immediately...he couldn't even remove it from it's resting place.

How...irritating.

Inuyasha, being the brash idiot that he was, charged as his older brother with intent to cause damage. Sesshomaru paid more attention to the strange woman with the white bird flying overhead. The fledgling priestess went to shoot more of her arrows at him, and he tossed his idiot brother at her.

It took him less than half a second to register the green-eyed woman attacking him with a clearly enchanted sword. It was old, powerful, but hadn't seen much use.

Honestly he had a harder time fighting her off than he had his brother. A single punch (which she barely blocked with her sword) caused her to crash into the shrine. The punch was strong enough to force her to drop the sword. A foolish mistake.

Sesshomaru went to attack her again...and her hand somehow came to rest on the hilt of Tessaiga.

To his utter disbelief, she managed to pull it out.

With Rose...

She should have known the moment her hand touched the hilt it wasn't her sword. The bindings were too frayed, the hilt too different. But the same urge that had told her to jump into the vortex urged her to grab it.

The moment she did, her hand seemed fused to the blade.

While she did manage to pull the thing out, the reaction she had to it was not what she expected.

It felt like her blood was boiling from inside her body. Her teeth clenched, mostly because if they didn't she would be screaming her lungs out.

She was burning, burning so intensely she didn't know if she would ever recover from this. Her magic was in flux as well, as something else pushed to the forefront.

Teeth elongated, and there was a strange hum that went down to her very bones... a hum that also seemed to be coming from the skeleton around them as well.

She could barely notice anything, but she did take in the shocked expression of the demon and the confused/bewildered expression of Kagome and Inuyasha respectively.

The sword in her hand transformed into it's true nature, that of a massive fang. It seemed to welcome her, calling out to something she couldn't explain.

She was losing control, and she didn't know what was up or down anymore.

"Focus!" shouted Sesshomaru suddenly, breaking the intense silence. "If you lose control now, you'll have no end of trouble with it!"

Instinct told her to follow his instruction. She focused on retaining her mind and just letting whatever this was follow the course it wanted to take.

The energy rose in proportion to this, overflowing and almost overwhelming her mind. She was not about to let whatever the hell this is take control!

Some internal howl rang in her mind, and she wanted to glare back. She was not some weak willed bitch (and why did that comparison come to mind first?)...she was an alpha. A true leader of the pack...and she'd be damned if she let her inner dog take control of her!

Black hair began to crackle with magical energy, as the blood adoption began to submit to her true nature. The shade went from raven black to a very familiar shade of silver. Green eyes swiftly changed to yellow, then began to turn blood red with blue irises. Red markings formed on her forehead (causing something to shriek in anger/pain, before black ichor bleed from her curse scar only to disappear as quickly as it appeared), and her cheeks.

Her canines sharpened, as did her nails. The hair on her body began to cover it entirely until her entire form was covered in silvery fur tougher than steel. She grew in size until she was bigger than Fluffy had ever been, as a long fluffy tail flowed from her backside. Her hands and feet became sturdy paws, powerful enough to rend any man into shreds.

Once the transformation had mostly run it's course, she couldn't resist the instinctive urge. She let out a long, triumphant howl of her true inner nature being set free.

For several long moments, no one could speak. But it was Inuyasha who broke the silence first.

"What... the actual hell."
