A/N: Hello I'm back with an update I'm glad that this story is getting a lot of attention (at least compared to my other stories) even if we're still just beginning. Thank you for your time let's continue.

Mortified couldn't begin to describe what Kihimoto is feeling right now like yes, he was receiving a homestay that's not a human but a girl. Even if she's of a different species she's still a girl, nonetheless. Like didn't the higher ups take into account that the very idea of a man and a woman living by themselves under one roof could lead to certain things "um is something wrong dear sir?" the question of the mermaid had snapped him out of his thoughts, he looks towards her she has a worried expression on her face, he was enchanted by her even when she's worried she looked so beautiful he wanted to go over to her and reassure her.

'No bad don't think like that she's a homestay she definitely has a noble reason to be here and your having lewd thoughts' after the mental scolding he looks towards the mermaid with a friendly expression "Yes of course I'm sorry I didn't expect that my homestay will be of the other sex is all" the mermaid let out a gasp of worry seeing this Kihimoto immediately come to correct himself "Not that's a bad thing it's just I'm kind of worried about you know a man and a woman by themselves."

"Yeah I get it" Meroune agrees.

Kihimoto lets out a sigh of relief "Good thanks for understanding MS. Lorelei."

"Your welcome dear sir and please just call me Mero that's what most of those close to me call me" she said while blushing.

"Okay thanks Mero and you don't need to call me dear sir just Kihimoto is enough" he replies scratching the back of his head nervously.

'Well this is a good season for romance' Smith thinks to herself witnessing the interaction between the two youths staying as a bystander through out the conservation between them now decides to talk "Well it's nice seeing you two are getting along already" this snapped the two and reminded them of the agent's presence she gestures to them to lean in and they do she whispers "Just keep it in your pants so you two aren't separated."

The two bolted back blushing "We weren't thinking about any of that lady coordinator."

"What she said."

"Yeah okay it's just a warning if you want to do it just wait until it's legal alright" Smith can't help but to try to muffle her laughter at them despite being adults they act like hormonal driven teens "Anyways I'll leave you two to your devices since during your conversation the team already got Mero's luggage inside" the two look around and don't see Mero's luggage around they thank the coordinator as she takes her leave Kihimoto pushes Mero's wheelchair inside the house to the living room and sits on the chair next to her.

"So, I'm Kurusu Kihimoto I'll be your host, if there's anything you need me for I'm all ears just ask and I'll do but I don't guarantee it will be the best however it doesn't mean I won't push myself to the limits" Kihimoto looks towards the mermaid whom gives him a wide smile she kneels to the human and presents herself.

"I'm Meroune Lorelei but call me Mero" she opens her eyes and looks towards the human's brown eyes and continues "I appreciate your offer, but I don't want to be much of a hassle myself."

They hear a loud grumble Kihimoto curios decides to trace it and finds himself next to a black cloth he uses his hand to discover the object of the black cloth and gets a hold of a large round object he hears a shriek "Stop touching it" causing him to look up and sees Mero's embarrassed face he speeds away from her.

"Sorry I didn't mean to offend" he keeps prostrating "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry."

Mero looks away embarrassed "No it's okay I'm sorry I should have eaten something before coming here."

Kihimoto gets up and pushes her wheelchair causing her to look up and sees an amusing smile on his face causing to blush "Well it's lunch time so I'll make us something. Do you have any preferences?"

"um I'm not really a picky eater so surprise me dear sir, after all I'm sure whatever you'll make will taste delicious as long as you put your heart in it" Mero says smiling towards her host whom have sworn he saw a kind peaceful yet powerful aura surrounding her as well as a golden Armor being worn by her and he stops readjusting his eyes "um something's wrong?"

"No nothing's at all sorry" he resumes walking and reaches the kitchen and stops the wheelchair next to the dining table he starts cooking one of the best lunch meals he knows which is rice salad and burger stakes after finishing he presents the food towards his homestay "Here you go Kurusu special lunch dig in."

Mero grabs the spoon which was made specifically for her due to her mucus and starts eating as she took her first bite her mouth exploded with the different flavours that are occupying her mouth causing to tear up a bit from the delicious taste "mmm this's incredibly tasty your really skilled at this."

Kihimoto smiles cooking is basically his pride and joy so even if it sounds a bit arrogant, he doubts anyone would hate his cooking and it proves itself now as a mermaid whom he believes her diet consists of fish and kelp likes his cooking. After lunch the two returned to the living room allowing their stomachs to digest the food and have small talks "So Mero why did you join the exchange program?"

"My family and hopes to build bridges between Liminals and humans."

"These are noble goals indeed I hope I'll be a reliable helper in your goal" Kihimoto praises Mero's goals 'Which makes it even worse about having lewd thoughts in the door' he scolds himself mentally.

"What about you dear sir? Why did you join the program?" Mero asks back to her host as he shakes his head.

"I told you Kihimoto is fine I'm already calling you Mero unless you want me to call you Ms. Lorelei?"

"No, I'm sorry I mean Kihimoto."

"Well actually my parents signed me up and I'm glad to have someone now since well it's me all the time right now with family away and friends too busy" Kihimoto says looking towards the space. Mero puts her hands in her mouth seemingly struggling with something this gets Kihimoto's attention "Did I say something's wrong?"

"No, it's just I have a question" she admits as her blue ocean eyes meets his brown eyes they stay like that for a while until Mero breaks it off remembering what she wanted to say "Kihimoto do you have a girlfriend?"

Kihimoto is taken back and starts shaking his head and waves his hand "No, I don't have one never had one."

Mero seems happy as she breathes a sigh of relief, this causes Kihimoto to think as he lays his head on right arm and his left scratches his chin 'Does she want to date me? I mean were basically crushing on our each other's but aren't we skipping a few or actually a lot of steps?'

"Kihimoto hello" Mero speaks causing him to snap out of his thoughts and starts apologizing.

"No everything's fine sorry this doesn't happen often I swear" Kihimoto says laughing nervously whilst scratching the back of his head. "So, do you want me to show you around the house?"

Mero closes her eyes and smiles then nods her head "Yes absolutely."

Kihimoto starts showing her around the house and Mero learns how to use the chair on the stairs they make it to Mero's room, the room is large with a pool in the middle and make shift beach bed on the side Mero has stars in her eyes as she gazes at the room and removes her goth maid outfit leaving her in mermaid 'undergarments' which are a black top and frilled skirt bottom this causes her host to blush and look away embarrassed Mero goes in the pool and starts swimming and gets out feeling refreshed "uhh it's so refreshing to dip in the water again" she looks around and sees her host looking away embarrassed "Something wrong Kihimoto?"

"Yes, I'm sorry you need privacy so tell me when you're done."

Mero puts her hand in her mouth as she laughs "No it's okay this's the normal attire of a mermaid we just cover ourselves more in the land, so the sun's heat doesn't dry us, so you don't have to be embarrassed this's normal for us."

"I don't know if I can completely get used to it, you are being barely naked."

"So pure Kihimoto" Mero says then she makes her way towards the ladder but has trouble as her mucus makes her grip slips from the iron bar "um Kihimoto do you mind helping me out?"

Kihimoto shakes his head "No it's completely fine here give me your hand" she grabs his hand as he helps her out but keeps slipping until a powerful pull by Kihimoto gets Mero out and falls on his arms bridal style "I'm sorry I didn't mean that" he tries to get her down only for the mucus to make his hand slip and grab her bosom causing her to shriek "ehh sorry I will get it off now" he manages to het hand off only to feel a cloth on it he looks and sees Mero's top on his hand doing a double take he looks at Mero who's chest is now exposed he starts freaking out "I'm sorry I didn't mean to do that I swear."

Mero looks away embarrassed "It's okay it's my fault for generating lots of mucus so don't blame yourself okay."

Kihimoto nods and they fix their situation Mero wears back her top and goth maid outfit and they watch some tv and then have dinner being a hamburger stake which Mero once again prizes after that Kihimoto takes Mero to her room so she can sleep "Today was wonderful thanks so much Kihimoto."

"It's alright I'm the host it's my job to make the guest feel comfortable" he says smiling causing Mero to blush, then his eyes widens as if he remembered something "Mero can you wait for me a little before you sleep?"

Mero nods "Yes of course while I'm a guest it's still my duty not to be a hassle to my host" this being her answer Kihimoto goes out and then comes back with his hand behind his back looking shy "Is something's the matter Kihimoto?"

Finding his voice Kihimoto asks "Mero can you close your eyes just a little bit?"

"Of course" she closes her eyes and feels somethings on her neck.

"Open them up" Mero does that and sees a necklace of seashells around her neck causing her to blush "So do you like it?"

Mero nods with a lot of red on her face "Yes it's really beautiful thank you so much."

"Well I'm glad you like it goodnight."

"Goodnight" Kihimoto leaves the room Mero looks at her necklace 'My tragic love story officially starts today'
