"Hey did you get the files?" Fred asked as she poked her head into Wesley's office.
"Yes," he said as he glanced up at her. But when he looked at her he frowned. "Is everything alright?" he questioned softly.
She gingerly walked into the room with dark circles around her eyes that screamed lack of sleep.
"Last night was the most the annoying night of my life," she breathed as she collapsed her on to the couch. "It was filled with a drunken Spike, a box full of kittens, and poker playing vampires."
His inquisitive look made her tell the whole story of her not so quiet night.
"So Spike comes into my house with a box full of kittens and shouting that he has to stay here since they aren't invited."
"They?"
"The crazy poker playing for kitten vampires. Apparently Spike had played poker before with for kittens and since is he is all soul having now, he feels guilty. So I dealt with a night of a half a dozen kittens and a drunken vampire who kept shouting 'I had to liberate the kittens!' and 'This kitten looks a bit like a poof, let's name him Angel'," she said as she tried to keep her eyes opened.
Wesley burst into laughter at her story. She was shocked at the sound; she hadn't heard him laugh in so long, she wondered why he was laughing now. But then she reviewed the facts of her story and joined him in laughing.
And as she watched his bright blue eyes twinkle she realized that she would deal with a hundred nights of drunken vampires and accident-prone kittens just to hear him laugh again.
