"Your happy ending may not be what you expect. That is what will make it so special."

~Snow White~

Killian and Emma held hands as they walked toward the coffee shop. She furrowed her eyebrows.

"I thought you were closed today."

"We are," he began as he unlocked the door, "But Matt left his script here, and he needs it for rehearsal. I told him we'd drop it off for him."

Emma hummed as he held the door open. She walked in before she teased, "Aren't you just an amazing boss?"

He rolled his eyes and shook his head while she laughed. She then pecked his cheek.

"So, where did Matt leave the script?"

"Somewhere under the counter," Killian began as he gestured toward it. He couldn't help but chuckle.

"The lad doesn't quite remember where."

Emma chuckled as well. "Poor kid. He must feel so bad about it."

"Aye, he rather does. He even offered to work extra shifts because he thought it would help. I assured him it wasn't necessary."

Emma wrapped her arms around his neck. "You really are an amazing boss, Killian - among other things."

He smiled at her before he pressed his lips to hers. She smiled into the kiss before she returned it.

When they pulled away, he told her, "Alright, Swan, no more distractions – we must find the script."

"I guess it was my fault," she offered with a grin. He only shook his head before she placed her hands on his chest.

"Come on, let's find this script so Matt won't be freaking out."

Killian nodded before they headed over to the counter. They both bent down and started to search.

As they rummaged through the mugs, to-go cups, napkins, and other items, Killian hummed. Emma couldn't help but smile.

As she began humming along, he found his eyes drawn to her. With a smile, he commented, "I do rather enjoy your humming, Swan."

She smiled once more. "I know you're just flattering me, but I can't say I mind."

With a chuckle, she then added, "Although, I really like hearing you sing. I miss it when you guys are swamped."

Killian leaned over and kissed her cheek. "And I like how you've become quite the romantic."

A light blush stained her cheeks. She then smiled and told him, "You've always brought it out in me – even more so because of how much I love you."

He returned her smile before he placed a soft kiss against her lips. She threaded her fingers through his hair.

When they pulled away, her green eyes landed on some papers shoved under a to-go carton. She pulled it free and offered her boyfriend another smile.

"Found it."

Killian hummed before they rose to their feet. He pulled his phone from his pocket and fired off a text message. It soon beeped with a response.

"Alright, Swan. He'll be waiting outside the Performing Arts Center."

"And you know where that is?"

He scratched behind his ear. "Not…exactly." She couldn't help but roll her eyes before he shook his phone.

"But that's why we have GPS."

He tapped in the address before the pair headed outside. As they walked along, Killian fumbled with the ring around his neck.

Emma squeezed his hand. "Still haven't gotten used to wearing it again?"

A small smile played across his lips. He continued to run his fingers around the band as he said, "Aye, love, it still feels a little unfamiliar – but I am rather happy to have it back."

Killian pressed a kiss in her hair. She let go of his hand and looped her arm through his.

Her green eyes then wandered to the script in her hand. "Hmm, Romeo and Juliet." With a tilt of her head, she mused, "Isn't this play pretty…emotionally daunting?"

"It is Shakespeare's most famous tragedy – and the namesakes do lose their lives at the end of the play."

Emma hummed before Killian questioned, "Why do you ask, love?"

She gestured with the script. "Because Matt is so…Matt. I don't know if he can even be subdued."

Killian couldn't help the laugh that escaped. He then offered, "But I do believe he's a rather talented actor. He'll fare alright."

Emma rested her chin on his shoulder before she hummed. With a smile, she then suggested, "We should check out the play when they're ready."

He tilted his head before a smile made its way across his face. "I should rather like to see it, love – but perhaps we shouldn't let Matt know."

Emma chuckled and shook her head. "I think he's just freaked out because you're his boss, and he hasn't worked at the shop for that long. I think he'll come around."

He hummed before he checked the GPS. They turned to the left and walked a few blocks before they came upon a crosswalk.

Emma then squinted her eyes and motioned with the script. "Isn't that the Performing Arts building?"

Killian furrowed his eyebrows as he followed her hand. "Ah, so it is. I knew we were rather close."

He placed the phone in his pocket before the "walk" symbol flashed. As they neared the building, they saw Matt wave at them and shout their names.

He rushed over to them and exclaimed, "Thank you so much for dropping this off!"

Emma and Killian couldn't help but smile. He then spoke, "It's quite alright. We're happy to help."

Matt beamed as he took the offered script. He flipped through it as he told them, "Still, thanks." When he looked back up, he motioned behind him, bouncing on his heels.

"I should get back to rehearsal. I'll see you guys later."

Before either Emma or Killian replied, he ran back to the building, tripping over his feet in the process. As he bounded through the door, they smiled and shook their heads.

They then walked back over to the crosswalk. As they crossed the street, she tilted her head and furrowed her eyebrows.

"Was Brennan meeting us at the game or at the apartment?"

"At the apartment – he hasn't seen it yet."

Emma opened her mouth in question when realization dawned on her. "That's right –

he had a late shift the night of the housewarming and couldn't get off."

Killian hummed. He then let out a chuckle, earning a raised eyebrow from his girlfriend.

"It is maddening how many books Belle and August have between them. I'm fairly certain at least half of my sister's moving boxes were books."

Emma laughed, and he soon joined her. When they sobered, she offered, "You do have to appreciate the fact that they wanted an extra room just for a library."

Killian chuckled once more. He then began scratching behind his ear.

Emma furrowed her eyebrows. Before she could ask, David and Mary Margaret approached them. Leo squealed and reached for his aunt.

She smiled before she took the little boy in her arms. She tickled his stomach as she greeted, "Hey, kid."

He wrapped his arms around her neck as his parents looked on with a smile. David then surmised, "I thought you were going to the game?"

"We're meeting at Belle and August's place – we're headed there now," Killian explained. He then chuckled as he noticed Leo grab Emma's necklace.

He carefully unwrapped the little fingers before Emma placed her necklace inside her shirt. Leo whined before Mary Margaret offered him a toy.

She ran her fingers through his hair before she asked, "How are they liking their new place? Are they settling in okay?"

Emma couldn't help but smile. "They're doing really great actually. They're more than happy – ecstatic even – about moving in together."

Mary Margaret hummed as a smile settled across her features. David then offered, "We're happy for them."

He then took a deep breath and spoke, "And we're glad things worked out with Brennan – I, uh, wasn't sure about saying anything sooner."

He glanced away when Killian reassured him, "I understand, mate. But things are really good with us – we've become good friends."

Emma smiled up at him before she adjusted Leo in her arms – only for him to toss his toy on the ground. Mary Margaret picked it up and offered it to her son.

Emma played with him while Killian slipped an arm around her waist. Leo tossed the toy once more.

With a chuckle, David reached for it. He held it in his hand and said, "I think someone is excited for their playdate."

As David reached for Leo, he dropped his voice so only Emma could hear: "And I'm happy for you – I know just what it took to let Killian into your heart, and I can see just how happy he makes you."

When he stepped back, he flashed her a smile. Her cheeks reddened as she smiled back at him.

She tickled Leo's stomach once more before she - and Killian - bid their goodbyes to their friends. They then continued onto the apartment.

As they walked, Killian kissed her head. "I saw that blush, love – but you don't have to tell me if you don't wish."

She snuggled into his side. "No, it's okay. He's just happy for us - for me. He's been there for me almost as much as Belle, and he's glad I could open up to someone again."

He kissed her head once more. "Well, Swan, I will never tire of - or take for granted - what we have."

"I know," she began as she snuggled even closer to him. She then smiled up at him and spoke, "I'm in this, Killian. And I'm with you."

He returned her smile. He then stopped in front of her and tilted her head up to his. He pressed a soft kiss against her lips. She draped her arms around his neck as she returned it.

Even after they pulled away, the kiss lingered as they rested their foreheads against each other's. Emma then reached down and squeezed his hands.

When she brought her eyes back to his, she asked, "Will it always be this way?"

Killian furrowed his eyebrows. "I'm not…quite sure I follow, love."

She took a deep breath and ran her fingers through her hair. "When things…change – will we still be this crazy about each other?"

She then shook her head and sighed. "Of course we will. Why would I even ask?"

Killian wrapped her in his arms. While still embraced, he told her, "Because you were left heartbroken by men who didn't deserve you – they didn't know what they had in you. I sometimes still can't believe you chose me – and I'll make sure you never regret it."

She buried her face into the crook of his neck and wrapped her arms around his waist. She then exhaled deeply.

"And that's why I know we're ready - I'm ready - for this."

Killian raised his eyebrow and tilted his head. Emma then pulled a key from her pocket.

"I want you to have a key to my apartment."

He couldn't help the chuckle that escaped. She dropped her eyes before he reassured her, "I'm so, so sorry, love – it's just that I planned on giving you a key as well."

She giggled. She then released a breath and smiled at him.

"We really are in sync, aren't we?" "I'd say so, darling."

He then pressed a sweet kiss against her lips. She threaded her fingers through his hair.

As they pulled away, she hummed. She took a deep breath before she brought her eyes to his.

"I know I don't need to say it – but I really want to. Seeing Belle and August move in together got me thinking about us. Not that I'm quite ready for that - or even staying the night together - but I do love you, and I want to share this with you."

Killian pressed his forehead against hers. "And I you, Swan." Both of them smiled.

He then pulled back to look at her. "Shall we?" She nodded.

He dug in his pocket and grabbed his keys. He took one off of the key ring and presented it to her.

Her eyes widened. "You had my name put on it?"

"It is your key, love."

She couldn't help but blush as she took it from him. She ran her fingers over her name. "Thank you, Killian."

He hummed and kissed her forehead. She then took a breath and held up his key.

"It, uh, doesn't say "Killian", but it's still your key. And… I'm happy for you to have it."

He kissed her forehead once more. He then placed her key on his before she grabbed hers from her cross-body purse and did the same.

They exchanged a smile before their lips met in a sweet kiss. When they pulled away, they rested their foreheads together and savored the moment.

When they pulled back, Emma couldn't help the giggle that escaped. At Killian's quizzical expression, she told him, "You know, I thought you were just going to give me the spare key since I use it anyway."

He chuckled. "Well, darling, that key is for emergencies should I lock myself out – or someone needs to get into the apartment. I wanted you to have your own key."

A smirk then played across his features. "And I know for a fact the key you gave me isn't the spare."

She blushed once more. With a deep breath, she then ran her hand along his jaw. "I think maybe we both knew we deserve more than just the spare."

He smiled at her. "Indeed we did, love. Indeed we did." She leaned up and placed a kiss on his forehead.

She then suggested, "Let's head over to the apartment before we risk being late."

Killian chuckled. "I don't think we're in danger of that. But if we were, I'm fairly certain my sister would call both of us."

She laughed. She then entwined her fingers with his before they continued walking.
