"Ananias!" Xander cried, briskly making his way towards the messenger as said messenger was noticeably trying to avoid him. Xander scowled at this. "Halt, Ananias! That's an order!"

Ananias let out an exasperated sigh before slowly and sheepishly turning to face him. "Oh boy...," he muttered.

"'Oh boy'?" Xander repeated incredulously, folding his arms sternly as he did. "Is that all you have to say for yourself after your terrible showing on the battlefield today? Hmm?"

"It wasn't that terrible," Ananias defensively retorted.

"'Wasn't that terrible'?!" Xander exclaimed. "Ananias, if you had had the gall to display such a showing to us on the day we first met, you would not have been allowed into this army at all, let alone be appointed as Elise's retainer!"

Ananias hung his head and fidgeted impatiently. "Alright, fine, you've made your point. I'll make sure not to fight like that again, just... lay off, will you?"

Xander's eyes widened incredulously. "'Lay off'? 'Lay off'?!" His eyes narrowed angrily. "How dare you! Not only am I the crown prince of Nohr, but I am also Elise's older brother, and as her elder brother, I cannot, in good faith, just let you off after the terrible performance you had today! And if you were honest with yourself, neither would you!"

"I am, alright?!" Ananias frustratedly growled. "I am!"

"Then fix it," Xander firmly ordered.

Ananias hit himself on the head a couple of times in frustration. "I can't! It's not that easy, alright?!"

"Why, of course it won't!" Xander scoffed. "Not with that attitude!"

Ananias let out a small, frustrated, and maniacal laugh. "You're not helping!" he chided.

"Well, you can't say that I haven't tried," Xander said.

"Telling me things people say behind my back isn't going to help me!" Ananias hopelessly cried. "It only makes things worse!"

"Worse how?"

"I...," Ananias flung his arms up in frustration, "I can't look at everyone the same way again! Do you know how awkward it is, to know every embarrassing thing people are saying about you and not knowing how to change it?!"

"Then you should simply ignore it!"

"I can't ignore knowing every female in the army thinking that I'm some kind of stud! How am I supposed to talk or look at them in the eye knowing that? How am I supposed to fight alongside all of the other guys if they think I'm some sort of woman-magnet?!"

Xander's eyes narrowed disapprovingly. "Is it truly that difficult for you to simply put such grievances aside during battle?"

"Not if you being a terrible fighter makes people think you're some hopeless romantic!" Ananias countered.

Xander eyed him suspiciously for a moment before asking, "Is that why you were fighting so recklessly today? You were preoccupied in trying to dispel the rumors about you?"

Ananias let out a frustrated sigh and hung his head. "Yeah, I did. And it was stupid. It won't ever happen again, alright?"

Xander stared long and hard at him for a moment before letting out an amused, "Humph."

Ananias groaned. "What now?"

"Forgive me, but... after hearing all of that, well, you reminded me a little bit of myself."

Ananias eyes widened as he let out a tiny gasp of surprise. "Wait, what?"

Xander nodded and reassuringly smiled at him. "Yes, believe it or not, I was once in a position quite similar to that of yours. I was young, and quite untalented at that. I had so little confidence in myself back then, quite possibly because my father was a king who I looked up to and admired, probably too much now that I think of it. He just seemed so perfect and unreachable in my eyes, and yet I felt the immense pressure of having to follow in his footsteps regardless. But my own feelings of inadequacy and the doubt of those whispering around me, it made me impatient and reckless. I wanted so much to prove to everyone, and to myself, that I wasn't what they feared I was, a future weak king to a kingdom already with its own fair share of problems. But in the end, all I did was make rash mistakes that did more harm than good." He chuckled at himself. "I can still remember the fear I felt when my father chastised me the same exact way I was chastising you now. It really is uncanny how similar these two instances are."

"I...," Ananias averted his eyes to the side, "I didn't know. I just thought that... -"

"That I meant well, but didn't truly understand what you were going through?" Xander finished.

Ananias hung his head. "Y-Yeah."

Xander placed a comforting hand onto one of Ananias' shoulders. "That is quite alright. I am used to such things."

"Doesn't make it right."

"Neither is not realizing how telling you a bunch of rumors about yourself would do more harm than good," Xander gently argued. "I hate to admit it, but my role as the aloof big brother in my family may have made me a bit rusty in my people skills. I should have realized the similarities between us sooner."

"Yeah, well, it wasn't like I was making it any easier for you," Ananias admitted.

Xander chuckled. "And now here we are, blaming ourselves for the mess we've put ourselves in. Why don't we simply agree to forgive and forget and call it a day then?"

Ananias nodded. "Yeah, that might be for the best. But before we do..."

Xander frowned curiously. "Yes?"

Ananias hesitated for a moment before reluctantly asking, "That confidence of yours... how did you improve it?"

"Well, I didn't happen overnight," Xander admitted. "I had to keep working at it until I became someone I could genuinely be proud of. Nothing more, nothing less."

"So... it just sort of happened for you, huh?"

Xander nodded. "Yes, and in time, I have no doubt that you will find your confidence as well."

"Yeah," Ananias said, giving him a small and appreciative smile. "Knowing someone as great as you was once just like me, that's got to mean something, right?"

Xander chuckled. "Exactly! Now, no more funny business out of you, understand? I have enough to worry about without having to worry about Elise's safety. And yours."

"Understood."

Author's Note #1: And therein ends the supports with Xander. I hope you liked them. The next supports after Xander, will be Azura, followed by Flora, Odin, Laslow, Rinkah, Arthur, Silas, Leo, Keaton, and Subaki. Kanna's supports will be like Ophelia's and Soleil's, with Kanna being Odin, Laslow, or Selena's kid and Ananias being an honorary uncle to them. Remember, all Nohr first generation characters, Soliel, Ophelia, Anna, Kanna, Rinkah, Subaki, and Setsuna are allowed to support with him as well and it is a first come, first serve system.
