(A/N: I do not own Spiderman. That right belongs to Sony).
Peter could hardly blinked after what he had just heard. Liz Allan, his girlfriend Liz Allan, the adorable, sweet, kind hearted and feisty cheerleader...wanted to join him and Cat in their hero work?
"Uh...I...I don't...what?" Peter managed to sputter out, practically shivering at the thought.
"Just hear me out. My brother was forced to do pretty bad things and I want to atone for his mistakes. I feel that if I have these...abilities, I should use them for the better of society. I...I want to help people. Like you do, Petey" Liz said, stepping towards him and grasping his hand with both of hers.
Peter looked into her eyes and saw she was being sincere in this. Peter held in and let out a deep breath as he continued looking at her eyes.
"Listen...Liz...It's noble you want to do this but...I...I have to say no" Peter let out, knowing full well she wasn't going to take kindly to the answer.
Liz then raised an eye and gave him her version of Gwen's look. It didn't have the same effect but it was still pretty chilling.
"Uh...excuse me? 'You have to say no'? Who said I was asking permission to begin with?" Liz asked, taking her hands off Peter's and placing them on her waist.
"Look, Liz...it's just dangerous. I...I don't want you getting hurt out there" Peter explained, rationalizing his answer to her.
"How exactly do you think I feel? I worry about you every time you go out on patrol ever since I found out you were Spiderman" Liz countered.
"Well...It's different! I mean...I've been doing this for over a year. I've had practice and I've had lots of experience stopping some major bad guys since then" Peter countered back, trying to stay as calm as possible on this.
"Well I've been practicing too. Look at this!" Liz exclaimed. She then stepped back and took a deep breath.
She then raised her hand and look intensely at it. For the first few moments, both Peter and Felicia just raised their eyebrows, not knowing what was going on until something quite peculiar happened.
A small flame appeared right on her hand. It then quickly grew into a much larger flame that overtook her entire hand. However, despite all of this, Liz held a smile on her face.
"What do you say? Neat, isn't it?" Liz asked, almost excitedly.
"Liz! Hold on, I'll get some water. Wait, maybe some of my webs could help here instead. Gah! I don't know which one to get now!" Peter said, hyperventilating.
Liz placed her other arm gently on Peter's shoulder. "Petey! Calm down! It doesn't hurt and my hand's fine. See?"
The Latina girl then took a breath and relaxed her body, the flame in her hand dispersed, leaving an unmarked hand in its place.
"Like it wasn't even there" Liz said with a big grin on her face.
"I...what...please don't do that. Jeez" Peter said, holding onto his heart. Liz just giggled before she got serious again. She grabbed his hands again and looked into his eyes.
"Sorry, Petey, but I feel like I can really do this. Sure, I may not have the experience you and Felicia have but I can get good at this and it's something I really want to do so please...let me help!" Liz explained to her boyfriend.
Peter just looked at Liz, not knowing what to say. On the one hand, he didn't want to upset his girlfriend but on the other, he didn't want her to get hurt. He went up against some pretty dangerous baddies that were intent on stopping anyone that got in their way using any means necessary to make sure they didn't. He was in between a rock and a hard place.
Several moments later, after his mind had conjured up what he believed was a rational response to what his girlfriend had said to him, his phone went off, letting out that fast tempoed 'Itsy Bitsy Spider' tune.
He unhooked his hands from Liz's, got his phone out and answered it.
Liz just looked at him with a dry stare and she placed her hands on her hip as Peter got on the phone with supposedly someone from the Bugle.
"Hey, Robbie...Sandman? At the Midtown Bank? Seriously? It's been months" Peter said over the phone with a surprised and disappointed look. Considering the last time he saw Marko, he was saving people from a sinking oil tanker, he was pretty sad to hear that he had gone back to crime. He then looked to Liz who he saw was slowly tapping her foot. He started sweating at the prospect of dealing with an angry girlfriend.
"O...Ok, yeah. I'll...I'll get on it" Peter said then hung up the phone.
Liz continued staring at him dryly as Peter continued to not have a single clue how to handle this.
"Liz, I'm...I'm sorry, it's just I have to-" Peter tried to explain before being interrupted.
"I know you have to! That's not what I'm upset about. I'm upset that you think so little of me that you think I can't handle this" Liz exclaimed, huffing and turning around, folding her arms in the process.
Peter stepped towards her. "Liz...I don't think little of you. It's just...this is all too soon and we don't really know the full extent of your powers. Plus, this is a dangerous business. These criminals I fight only care about getting what they want and they'll do anything they do to get it...and I mean anything…"
Liz just stood there motionless. Peter couldn't exactly tell what she was thinking as her back was faced towards him but he could tell it probably wasn't exactly a look of understanding. He wanted to continue to reason with her but it seemed pointless. Sandman was causing danger to the public and he had to do something about it.
"Look...Liz...we'll talk about it later. I promise. Just...just stay here and let me and Felicia deal with it...please?" Peter practically begged with her.
The brunette could see Liz breathe in and out from behind before she turned around. She gave him a bit of a dry look.
"Alright...go save the world. I'll be here" Liz said with a bit of a grudge in her voice before she gave Peter a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
Peter softly smiled. He then proceeded to take off his blue shirt and brown pants to reveal that he had worn his Spider-Man suit underneath like he always did. He pulled his mask from the bottom half of his suit from the side and placed it on.
"What about you, Cat? You ready?" Spider-Man asked as he turned around. He turned and saw that Felicia had already changed into her Black Cat costume.
"You know it, babe. Changed while you and Liz were chatting. Also, try not to…'fire up' too much there, Lizzie. There are sprinklers on the ceiling and the couches are leather. Don't want to mess that up" Black Cat lightly scolded but with a smile on her face.
Liz just rolled her eyes, still pouting a bit. Peter could tell she still wasn't particularly happy about essentially being told no to being a Superhero right now. However, he didn't have any regrets.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Go out and do your guys' thing" Liz said as she sat back down on the couch and held up the remote to exit out of the movie.
"Please don't be mad, Liz" Spider-Man said.
"I'm not mad. Just a bit irritated...but I'll get over it. Now go on. Get out of here" Liz said, waving it off.
"Alright...if you say so" Spider-Man said, turning towards Black Cat who nodded at him.
They both went outside to the balcony of the penthouse. Spider-Man allowed Black Cat to hold onto him from behind as he jumped off the balcony and swung out into the city with the reformed (Or at least in progress of being reformed) Cat based hero hanging onto him from behind, her arms caressing his chest tenderly as she held on.
Liz just watched them as they swung through the city, off to save the day. The Latina teen then stood up from the couch and went to the middle of the penthouse. She then started pacing back and forth, deep in thought.
If she was being perfectly honest, she could see why he was worried and she didn't feel 100% good about this either. She didn't like the idea of going out and putting herself at risk against the likes of people like Sandman, Rhino and others. Hell, she still had nightmares about Doc Ock and Electro.
However, this was not going to be something she was going to let go. Her brother was in prison right now and it was all because he had been turned into a monster for the sole purpose of doing harm to the city. She needed to do something to help by helping the city fight against these monsters so this wouldn't happen to anyone else.
Whether Peter liked it or not, Liz's mind was already made up on this and she decided she was going to help Peter and Felicia fight their fight. With a smirk on her face, she walked towards a bag she had brought along. She had told Peter that it was workout clothes because she hit the gym before coming to keep her cheerleader physique and all. However, that wasn't 100% true…
The teenage girl unzipped the bag and smiled as she pulled out the contents. A red mask and a yellow jumpsuit that she had custom made from a fashion designer. For a Halloween costume, she had insisted. However, there was another reason for it.
Liz put on the mask and said "Well Petey, Felicia, whether you want me to help or not, say hello...to Firestar"
For a split second, if one were watching, they could swear they saw a hint of fire form within her hair.
