Sha Gojyo was a womanizer to the largest degree. Or rather, since he did his fair share of loving and leaving with both sexes, he could definitely be called promiscuous.
He made whatever promises and assurances the other party wanted to hear in order to worm himself into their good graces and into (or onto) their beds, kitchen counters, showers, couches, as well any other surface or lack thereof.
So when he took in the beautiful green-eyed stranger he found laying on the road, guts dangerously close to leaving the confines of his abdomen, he surprised himself by announcing to no one in particular that this would be the last man he let into his bed.
Gojyo had never felt any particular inclination before to dedicate himself to one person. Doing that usually meant you were left hurt and alone, or worse, dead. So he had flitted from relationship to relationship, occasionally engaged in several at the same time, never feeling the urge for anything more meaningful.
All that had changed after meeting the man he now called Cho Hakkai.
Of course, this is not to say that Gojyo was immediately reformed and because a man solely devoted to one person. Mostly because up until Sanzo came to arrest Hakkai, Gojyo never gave the other man any inclination of the fact that the redhead was interested in jumping his bones. This may have been because Hakkai had just returned from the brink of death and wasn't in any condition to participate in bone-jumping of any variety.
As a naturally sensual person, he often found his mind, and other parts of him, honing in on someone other than the object of his affections.
It was only after that he was scared senseless by the news that Cho Gonou was dead did he stop going out all together except to buy food. Sulking alone in his apartment he realized he had missed the one chance at starting a relationship that lasted more than the five or six hours it took for him to get sick of someone.
So of course when Hakkai returned healthy and whole, with a new eye, Gojyo immediately… did nothing. He was still mad at Sanzo for lying to him, even if it had been more omission than actual lie.
In fact he proceeded to do nothing with great vigor for several weeks. He did nothing for so long, and with such great enthusiasm, that eventually, it was Hakkai who decided to do something.
Something that involved a lot of pouncing, groping, licking, biting, moaning, screaming, and penetration.
He then proceeded to repeat that something again for the next few hours. And days. And weeks. And months. And years.
Until Gojyo realized that he had been in a monogamous relationship for three years and even worse… that he had enjoyed it.
