After traveling for a good while, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles had arrived in Chun-nan to try and investigate Dr. Eggman's next move. They arrived in the village that was situated somewhere within the nation, which was populated by humans, just like Station Square.
Tails landed the Tornado and him and Knuckles got out while Sonic skid to a stop next to the Tornado. "Alright, we made it to Chun-nan. Now let's go and try to figure out Eggman's next move." Sonic remarked as Tails and Knuckles walked up to him.
Tails nodded. "Yeah. Perhaps the townsfolk know something that could help us in our investigation." He said.
"Let's go." Knuckles said as the boys walked off into the village. They then walked to one of the townspeople.
"Excuse us, can you help us?" Tails asked the townsperson.
"Certainly. What can I do for you?" The townsperson asked Tails. The townsperson appeared to be an Asian young man wearing a light blue button up shirt with blue trousers and black shoes.
"We're trying to find Dr. Eggman. Have you seen or noticed anything that could possibly be linked to him?" Tails asked him again.
The young man thought about it. "Well, the village elder has closed off all exits of the village because there have been reports of Dr. Eggman's evil robots in the area. Perhaps if you follow the trail of robots, you will find what you're looking for." He replied.
Tails nodded. "Alright, thank you for your time." He replied back.
"Anytime." The young man said before going on his way again.
"Guess we gotta head out of the village to find Eggman then." Sonic remarked.
"Guess so. Let's go." Knuckles replied as him, Sonic and Tails began to make their way towards the village exit and were allowed to go through once they informed the gatekeeper that they were going to rid the area of Eggman's robots.
Soon after, Sonic was running through the area with Tails and Knuckles in tow. "Alright, let's go and trash Eggman's robots and restore peace to this land!" Sonic said as he began boosting through Eggman's robots, destroying them.
"You got it, Sonic! We might find Eggman while we're at it!" Tails replied as he began blasting Eggman's robots to pieces with his blaster.
"Leave some room for my fists, guys!" Knuckles exclaimed as he began beating the robots into scrap metal with his fists. Eventually, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles made it to the end of the trail and arrived at an outlook point that showed a view of a gigantic Eggman base down in the valley.
"Oh, man...Looks like Eggman's built a whole new base out here in Chun-nan..." Tails remarked with a frown.
"Looks like we'll have to kick Eggman's ass out of Chun-nan!" Knuckles remarked.
"Damn right, Knux. Come on, guys. Let's go." Sonic said as him, Tails and Knuckles jumped off the outlook point and began skydiving down towards the base.
Meanwhile, the Chaotix had brought the mobster they found to the closest police station. The mobster had gained consciousness by this point, and he was being interrogated by the Chaotix. "So, do you mind telling us why you were following us to that jazz club?" Vector asked the mobster kindly but firmly.
"A guy at Shinji's Japanese Grill gave me a sawbuck to follow you guys." The mobster told him.
"And you're sure you're not bullshitting us?" Espio questioned as he raised an eyebrow in suspicion.
"No, I'm not bullshittin' ya! I'm tellin' the truth!" The mobster replied.
Vector and Espio looked at each other before looking back at the mobster and nodded. "Alright, we believe you." Vector told the mobster before turning to the policeman who was standing at the door of the interrogation room. "Alright, we're done here. Take him to his cell." He told the policeman, who nodded and proceeded to take the mobster to his cell.
Soon after, Vector and the gang were back outside and were strolling through the streets of Station Square. "We have to find Shinji's Japanese Grill. There might be more evidence we need in there." Vector told the others.
"I know where Shinji's Japanese Grill is. I ate there once, so I'll guide you guys there." Mighty replied before he ran off. Vector, Espio and Charmy looked at each other and nodded before running after Mighty, following him to Shinji's Japanese Grill.
A little while of running later, the Chaotix arrived at Shinji's Japanese Grill, and fortunately for them, it appeared that Shinji was inside preparing the restaurant for opening hours. Mighty proceeded to knock on the door. "Hey, Shinji! Can we come in for a minute?! It's for an investigation!" He called inside.
"Sure thing, Mighty. Give me a moment to unlock the door." Shinji replied as he proceeded to open the door and allowed the Chaotix to come inside. Shinji was a Japanese human man in his mid 30s and had spiky black hair and was wearing a short sleeved white dress shirt, black trousers, black dress shoes as well as a white apron.
"What are you guys investigating?" Shinji questioned.
"We're investigating the theft of a sapphire from the Station Square Museum, and a suspect in the case sent us in the direction of this place, claiming that someone here gave him a sawbuck to follow us." Mighty explained to Shinji.
Shinji nodded at that. "Now that you mention it, I do recall a customer doing some business with a shady person here last night. In fact, I found this discarded note on one of the tables while cleaning the place last night." He said as he showed the Chaotix the note as Charmy swiped it out of his hands.
"Mascalzone, bring 50.000 Rings to the Station Square Docks or the Chaotix Detective Agency gets proof you did it." Charmy read the note out loud.
"Mascalzone? Who could that be...?" Espio sighed.
"It sounds like the name of a mobster to me." Vector replied, scratching his chin.
"Well, we better get down to the Station Square Docks to check for more evidence." Mighty remarked. "Thanks for your time, Shinji." He then told Shinji.
"Anytime, Mighty. Make sure you come by and eat sometime." Shinji replied.
"I will, Shinji. Take care." Mighty replied as him and the Chaotix left the Japanese Grill again.
"Well, off to the Station Square Docks we go!" Charmy buzzed as he flew off towards the docks and Vector, Espio and Mighty began to follow him.
Meanwhile, Amy was running through a forest with Buck in her arms. As she was doing so, she continued to destroy Eggman's robots, freeing the Animal Buddies inside in the process. "Alright, we're doing great, Buck! We're freeing all your Animal Buddy friends from their Badnik prisons! Before you know it, all of your Animal Buddy friends will be free!" Amy happily told Buck, who smiled and nodded, barking happily as he did so.
As Amy and Buck continued to run through the forest, they were suddenly ambushed by Metal Sonic, who came flying towards Amy at full speed with his left hand stretched out. Amy wasn't quick enough to react to this sudden ambush, and she was promptly grabbed by her throat and held on to Buck tightly in order not to drop him.
"Urgh! Let me go! This is NOT how you treat a lady!" Amy gasped for air as she struggled to get Metal Sonic to let go of her while simultaneously preventing Buck from falling to his death. Metal Sonic then squeezed Amy's neck further.
"Silence! You're interfering with the Doctor's plans, and therefore you must be imprisoned!" Metal Sonic firmly told her as he puffed a sleeping gas out of his arm cannon to make Amy and Buck fall unconscious and prevent them from being able to escape.
"Urgh...Sonic...will...rescue...me..." Amy muttered drowsily before she and Buck dozed off, allowing Metal Sonic to take the two of them to one of Eggman's bases without any trouble.
And with that, Episode 2 of this story has come to a start! In the next part, Team Sonic will go through Eggman's base in Chun-nan to put a stop to the Doctor's next step in his evil plan, Team Chaotix will continue their investigation in the Station Square Museum theft, and we will figure out what will become of Amy!
